A study on the cross-linking reaction of epoxy resins is very important for the elevation of physical properties and processibility of the epoxy composites materials which is valuable in modern industries. The properties of the composites is depends on that of the epoxy matrix resins. Generally, the cured epoxy resin has low impact strength. For the elevation of impact strength, the reactive diluent added to the epoxy formulations. The reactive diluent also has additional adventage with decreasement of the viscosity of resin mixture before curing, and then better processibility. Equimolar mixtures of diglycidyl ether of Bisphenol-A (DGEBA) as basic epoxy resin and aliphatic diamine as curing agent are formulated with variable amount of lauric glycidyl ether (LGE) as reactive diluent, and cured under controled condition, and measured the impact strength. Accoding to the results, the cured epoxy samples with the optimum amount of reactive diluent show much increased impact strength. The reason of low impact strength of the samples with small amount of the reactive diluent is considered that the flexibility of the chain in small domains is not sufficient. When excess amount of the reactive diluent are formulated, the reason of low impact strength is considered of phase seperation by excess diluent with ow molecular weight.

An improved fungal test method has been developed for the measurement of biodegradability for the polymeric materials. This method is very effective for starch-filled plastics which are now widely used for the biodegradable packaging film. Advantages of this method over conventionally used test method of ASTM include better visualization of fungal growth on polymeric materials shortening of incubation period and enhanced sensitivity.

Nitrile oxide is radical substance having a short life time(5 seconds) in the bodies of living beings, which is interact to an immune reaction and the autocontrol of blood pressure. In this studies, we have carried out the reaction from terephthaldicarboxaldehyde via aldoxim to furoxan. This polymers of oligomers containing this furoxan will be used effective substances to generate much nitrile oxides.

Fiber reinforced composite materials have been used in wide application field ; air and marine craft fabrication, sports googs, and the other industral structures and instruments, because of their excellent mechanical strength with their light weight. The carbon fiber-epoxy composites have been used very widly with their high modulus and their relatively low price of fabrication. Epoxy resin is one of thermosetting plastics, so, the various processes of curing sharply affect the mechanical properties of the result composite materials. In this report, the samples manufactured with various curing processes are analyzed by Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Thermogravimetric Analysis, Izod Impact Strength Test and so on. In the process of curing, because the viscosity of the system is very sharply rise up on the progress of curing, it must not attain completely cured state. In this study, the two step curing process is detected more effective ; first step curing executed at relative low temperature and second step of post-curing at high temperature.

We prepared the biodegradable films of the most widely used polyethylene and its vinyl acetate copolymers blended with starch as a biodegradation accelerating filler. Biodegradability of the prepared films was tested by the standard practice for determining resistance of synthetic polymeric materials to fungi (ASTM G-21) and the newly develloped method in our labolatory.
