In this paper, we investigate the constructions of generalized bent Boolean functions defined on with values in Z4. We first present a construction of generalized bent Boolean functions defined on with values in Z4. The main technique is to utilize bent functions to derive generalized bent functions on odd number of variables. In addition, by using Boolean permutations, we provide a specific method to construct generalized bent functions on odd number of variables.
Fast Transient Buck Converter Using a Hysteresis PWM Controller

In this paper, a fast transient buck converter using hysteresis PWM control is presented. The proposed control method is based on hysteresis control of the capacitor C voltage. This offers a faster transient response to meet the challenges of the power supply requirements for fast dynamic input and load changes. It also provides better stability and solves the compensation problem of the error amplifier in conversional voltage PWM control. Finally, the steady-state and dynamic operation of the proposed control method are analyzed and verified by simulation and experimental results.
Study of the Cavitation Phenomenon Inside Roller Vane Pump

The roller vane pumps are widely used in the automobile industry as steering pumps. However, the cavitation damage near the outlet relief groove could directly decrease serve life and efficiency of the roller vane pump. In this paper, the mechanism of the cavitation is discussed, especially the cavitation damage near the tip of the relief groove. The computational fluid dynamics simulation method (CFD) based on dynamic meshing technique and user defined function (UDF) is applied to calculate flow dynamics and multi-phase flow characteristics, especially the flows inside the fluid film between the stator and valve plate. The simulated results show that the cavitation region is the same with the experiment one, and the cavitation inside the fluid film is caused by the shear action of the stator and valve plate. The negative pressure region near the relief groove has an extreme low pressure at 0.08 MPa, and the maximum flow velocity is 99.3 m/s. Besides, the cavitation region near the relief groove has the highest gas volume fraction of 2.23% and the lowest density of 560 kg/m3. Furthermore, the reason why cavitation happened at this position in a roller vane pump is analyzed by theoretical analysis.

Based on the dispersive feature of the dielectric function of noble metals and the wave vector conservation in physics, both the plasma effect and the complex refractive index, which are profoundly correlated to the complex dielectric function and permeability, have been studied and analyzed. The condition to induce a bulk or a surface plasma in the visible region will not be satisfied, and there will be one solution for the real and the imaginary parts of the refractive index, restricting it only to region I of the complex plane. The results given in this work will aid in understanding the properties of light transmission at the metal/dielectric interface as characterized by the law of refraction in nature.

Although many epidemiologic studies investigated the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphisms and their associations with esophageal cancer, definite conclusions could not be drawn. To clarify the effects of MTHFR polymorphisms on the risk of esophageal cancer, a meta-analysis was here performed in Chinese populations. A total of 16 studies including 3,040 cases and 4,127 controls were involved in this metaanalysis. Overall, significant associations were found between the MTHFR C677T polymorphism and esophageal cancer risk when all studies in Chinese populations were pooled into the meta-analysis (T vs. C, OR = 1.19, 95% CI = 1.06-1.34; TT vs. CC, OR = 1.35, 95% CI = 1.07-1.70; TT+ CT vs. CC, OR = 1.29, 95% CI = 1.08-1.54; TT vs. CC + CT, OR = 1.19, 95% CI = 1.03-1.37). In subgroup analyses stratified by ethnicity and source of controls, the same results were found in Kazakh (TT vs. CC, OR = 1.38, 95% CI = 1.02-1.87; TT + CT vs. CC, OR = 1.50, 95% CI = 1.03-2.18), in not stated populations (T vs. C, OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.08-1.42; TT vs. CC, OR = 1.47, 95% CI = 1.10-1.96; TT + CT vs. CC, OR = 1.30, 95% CI = 1.05-1.60; TT vs. CC + CT, OR = 1.32, 95% CI = 1.12-1.56), and in hospital-based studies (T vs. C, OR = 1.34, 95% CI = 1.19-1.51; TT vs. CC, OR = 1.81, 95% CI = 1.37-2.39; TT + CT vs. CC, OR = 1.51, 95% CI = 1.26-1.83; and TT vs. CC + CT, OR = 1.39, 95% CI = 1.13-1.70). In conclusion, this meta-analysis provides evidence that the MTHFR C677T polymorphism contributes to esophageal cancer development in Chinese populations.

제조기업이 생산정보화시스템(MES) 도입 시, 기업별로 생산환경의 특성이 모두 반영된 정보화로 추진되어야 하는 관계로 대기업과는 달리 중소기업에서 도입하는 데에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 일반적으로 국내의 중소형 제조기업에서 MES 를 도입할 때 기업의 생산환경 특성을 반영하는 업종이나 규모, 생산방식 및 주문방식 등 요소를 고려하지 않고 획일적인 전략을 기반으로 도입을 하고 있으며, 이로 인해 도입 후에도 시스템이 제대로 활용되지 못하고 일부의 간단한 기능만을 사용하게 되거나, 이로 인한 사용자의 만족도가 낮아지는 등의 많은 문제점이 발생하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 생산정보화시스템(MES)의 효율적인 도입을 위해 웹 기반의 정보화 수준 진단시스템을 이용한 생산정보화의 보급/확산 전략을 도출한다. 또한 웹 포털 상에서 이해하기 쉽고 간단한 대화형식의 질문을 통해 해당 기업의 수준과 필요를 도출하여 맞춤형 생산정보화시스템(MES) 도입 가이드라인을 제시한다.

Microbial community shifts, associated with performance data, were investigated in an anaerobic batch digester treating high-solid food waste under mesophilic conditions using, a combination of molecular techniques and chemical analysis methods. The batch process was successfully operated with an organic removal efficiency of 44.5% associated with a biogas yield of 0.82 L/g VSremoval. Microbial community structures were examined by denaturing gel gradient electrophoresis. Clostridium and Symbiobacterium organisms were suggested to be mainly responsible for the organic matter catabolism in hydrolysis and acidogenesis reactions. The dynamics of archaeal and methanogenic populations were monitored using real-time PCR targeting 16S rRNA genes. Methanosarcina was the predominant methanogen, suggesting that the methanogenesis took place mainly via an aceticlastic pathway. Hydrogenotrophic methanogens were also supported in high-solid anaerobic digestion of food waste through syntrophism with syntrophic bacterium. Microbial community shifts showed good agreement with the performance parameters in anaerobic digestion, implying the possibility of diagnosing a high-solid anaerobic digestion process by monitoring microbial community shifts. On the other hand, the batch results could be relevant to the start-up period of a continuous system and could also provide useful information to set up a continuous operation.
Biochar-supported nZVI (nZVI/BC) for contaminant removal from soil and water: A critical review

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The promising characteristics of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) have not been fully exploited owing to intrinsic limitations. Carbon-enriched biochar (BC) has been widely used to overcome the limitations of nZVI and improve its reaction with environmental pollutants. This work reviews the preparation of nZVI/BC nanocomposites; the effects of BC as a supporting matrix on the nZVI crystallite size, dispersion, and oxidation and electron transfer capacity; and its interaction mechanisms with contaminants. The literature review suggests that the properties and preparation conditions of BC (e.g., pore structure, functional groups, feedstock composition, and pyrogenic temperature) play important roles in the manipulation of nZVI properties. This review discusses the interactions of nZVI/BC composites with heavy metals, nitrates, and organic compounds in soil and water. Overall, BC contributes to the removal of contaminants because it can attenuate contaminants on the surface of nZVI/BC; it also enhances electron transfer from nZVI to target contaminants owing to its good electrical conductivity and improves the crystallite size and dispersion of nZVI. This review is intended to provide insights into methods of optimizing nZVI/BC synthesis and maximizing the efficiency of nZVI in environmental cleanup.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Aggregation and passivation of nZVI can be alleviated by surfactants and doping methods. </LI> <LI> BC hinders corrosion and improves the dispersion and electron transfer of nZVI. </LI> <LI> Properties of nZVI depend on those of the BC, feedstock and pyrogenic temperature. </LI> <LI> BC enhances electron transfer from nZVI to the contaminants due to the presence of quinone and graphene moieties. </LI> <LI> nZVI/BC shows strong ability to remove HMs, nitrates, and organic contaminants in soil and water. </LI> </UL> </P>
