      • Modelling of flange-stud-slab interactions and numerical study on bottom-flange-bolted composite-beam connections

        Xiaoxiang Wang,Yu-jie Yu,Lizhong Jiang,Zhi-wu Yu 국제구조공학회 2023 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.47 No.2

The composite beam connections often encountered fracture failure in the welded bottom flange joint, and a bottom flange bolted connection has been proposed to increase the deformation ability of the bottom flange joint. The seismic performance of the bottom flange bolted composite beam connection was suffered from both the composite action of concrete slab and the asymmetric load transfer mechanisms between top and bottom beam flange joints. Thus, this paper presents a comprehensive numerical study on the working mechanism of the bottom flange bolted composite beam connections. Three available modelling methods and a new modelling method on the flange-stud-slab interactions were compared. The efficient numerical modeling method was selected and then applied to the parametric study. The influence of the composite slab, the bottom flange bolts, the shear composite ratio and the web hole shape on the seismic performance of the bottom flange bolted composite beam connections were investigated. A hogging strength calculation method was then proposed based on numerical results.

Joint Relay-and-Antenna Selection and Power Allocation for AF MIMO Two-way Relay Networks

( Wang Xiaoxiang ),( Zhou Jia ),( Wang Dongyu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.3

In this paper, we present a joint relay-and-antenna selection and power allocation strategy for multiple-input multi-output (MIMO) amplify-and-forward (AF) two-way relay networks (TWRNs). In our approach, we select the best transmit and receive antennas at the two sources, a best relay and a best transmit and receive antenna at the selected relay based on maximizing the minimum of the end-to-end received signal-to-noise-ratios (SNRs) under a total transmit power constraints. We obtained the closed-form solution for the optimal power allocation firstly. Then with the optimal allocation solution we found, we can reduce the joint relay-and-antenna selection to a simpler problem. Besides, the overall outage probability is investigated and a tight closed-form approximation is derived, which provides a method to evaluate the outage performance easily and fast. Simulation results are presented to verify the analysis.

Microsatellite Markers Linked to Quantitative Trait Loci Affecting Fatness in Divergently Selected Chicken Lines for Abdominal Fat

        Zhang, Hui,Wang, Shouzhi,Li, Hui,Yu, Xijiang,Li, Ning,Zhang, Qin,Liu, Xiaofeng,Wang, Qigui,Hu, Xiaoxiang,Wang, Yuxiang,Tang, Zhiquan Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.10

Abdominal fat characters are complex and economically important in the poultry industry. Their selection may benefit from the implementation of marker-assisted selection (MAS). The objective of this study was to identify the markers linked to QTL responsible for fatness traits. The Northeast Agricultural University broiler lines divergently selected for abdominal fat content (NEAUHLF) were used in the study. A total of 596 individuals from the divergent tails from the 6th to the 10th generations were genotyped at 23 microsatellite markers on chromosome 1. The differences of allele frequencies of all marker alleles between the divergent tails across the five generations were recorded. The allele frequencies of five markers, including LEI0209, LEI0146, MCW0036, ADL328 and MCW0115, had significant differences between the two tails in all five generations. The resulting p-values using Fisher's exact test on eleven markers, containing MCW248, MCW0010, MCW0106, LEI0252, LEI0068, MCW0018, MCW0061, LEI0088, MCW200, MCW283 and ROS0025, had a decreasing tendency from the 6th to the 10th generation. Statistical analysis showed that polymorphisms of the eight markers, including LEI0209, LEI0146, ROS0025, MCW0115, MCW0010, MCW0036, MCW283, ADL328, were significantly (p<0.0011) or suggestively (p<0.05) associated with abdominal fat content (AFW and AFP) across generations. It is concluded that the eight markers could be associated with the QTL affecting the deposition of abdominal fat in broiler chickens.

        A Tower-Shaped Three-Dimensional Piezoelectric Energy Harvester for Low-Level and Low-Frequency Vibration

        Xiaoxiang Wei,Haibo Zhao,Junjie Yu,Yiming Zhong,Yanlin Liao,Shiwei Shi,Peihong Wang 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.8 No.5

The multiple forms of vibration exist in an ambient environment diffusely and already become a considerable object for energy harvesting. However, how to effectively extract low-level, low-frequency, and multi-directional vibration from the ambient environment is becoming a key issue in the field of energy harvesting. To solve this issue, a tower-shaped piezoelectric vibration energy harvester (TS-PVEH) is reported. Finite element simulation indicates that TS-PVEH works in two fundamental modes, i.e., its in-plane and out-of-plane vibration modes. Meanwhile, simulation results show that the natural frequency of TS-PVEH is 3.39 Hz, 3.40 Hz, and 11.50 Hz, respectively; and the experiments also verified that. By virtue of the tower structure of TS-PVEH, the device is pretty sensitive to three-dimensional vibration. At a low level of acceleration 1 m/s 2 , the maximum load power of TS-PVEH is 65.8 μW in out-of-plane mode and 17.2 μW in in-plane mode, respectively. Furthermore, the effects of the PVDF connection mode on the output performance of TS-PVEH were studied in detail, and comparative experimental results show that a reasonable connection of PVDF can improve energy harvesting efficiency. The proposed TS-PVEH is expected to be used to scavenge energy from multi-dimensional, low-level, and low-frequency vibrations that present in an ambient environment.

Polymorphism of Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-4 Gene in 17 Pig Breeds and Its Relationship with Growth Traits

        Wang, Wenjun,Hu, Xiaoxiang,Fei, Jin,Meng, Qinyong,Li, Ning Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.10

Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-4 (IGFBP-4) is a member of the IGF super family, and regulates the action of IGFs. The polymorphism of porcine IGFBP-4 gene in 17 pig breeds (total n = 570) was detected by PCR-SSCP, and alleles A and B were detected. In these pig breeds, it was found that exotic pig breeds carried high frequencies of allele A, while Chinese native pig breeds carried high frequencies of allele B. The role of porcine IGFBP-4 was investigated in 172 F2 offspring of a $Lantang{\times}Lantang $ population. Forty eight growth traits were recorded for analyzing the association between IGFBP-4 gene polymorphism and quantitative performance traits. In this resource family, pigs with AA genotype had higher fore-body weight, bone weight of mid-body, bone weight of rear-body, fore-leg weight and rear-leg weight than those pigs with BB genotype (p<0.05); while pigs which carried BB genotype had higher back-fat thickness at C point and lard weight than those pigs with AA genotype (p<0.05); pigs with AA genotype had higher body weight than those with BB genotype; for meat quality traits, pigs with AA genotype had higher meat color than those of BB genotype (p<0.01), and pigs with BB genotype had higher marbling than those of AA and AB genotypes (p<0.01 and p<0.05, respectively).Based on these results, it is necessary to do more studies on IGFBP-4 before using the IGFBP-4 locus for the application of marker-assisted selection programs.

Performance Optimization of Two-Way AF Relaying in Asymmetric Fading Channels

( Qi Yanyan ),( Wang Xiaoxiang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2014 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.8 No.12

It is widely observed that in practical wireless cooperative communication systems, different links may experience different fading characteristics. In this paper, we investigate into the outage probability and channel capacity of two-way amplify-and-forward (TWAF) relaying systems operating over a mixed asymmetric Rician and Rayleigh fading scenario, with different amplification policies (AP) adopted at the relay, respectively. As TWAF relay network carries concurrent traffics towards two opposite directions, both end-to-end and overall performance metrics were considered. In detail, both uniform exact expressions and simplified asymptotic expressions for the end-to-end outage probability (OP) were presented, based on which the system overall OP was studied under the condition of the two source nodes having non-identical traffic requirements. Furthermore, exact expressions for tight lower bounds as well as high SNR approximations of channel capacity of the considered scenario were presented. For both OP and channel capacity, with different APs, effective power allocation (PA) schemes under different constraints were given to optimize the system performance. Extensive simulations were carried out to verify the analytical results and to demonstrate the impact of channel asymmetry on the system performance.

Joint User Association and Resource Allocation of Device-to-Device Communication in Small Cell Networks

( Wenrong Gong ),( Xiaoxiang Wang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.1

With the recent popularity of smart terminals, the demand for high-data-rate transmission is growing rapidly, which brings a new challenge for the traditional cellular networks. Both device-to-device (D2D) communication and small cells are effective to improve the transmission efficiency of local communication. In this paper, we apply D2D communication into a small cell network system (SNets) and study about the optimization problem of resource allocation for D2D communication. The optimization problem includes system scheduling and resource allocation, which is exponentially complex and the optimal solution is infeasible to achieve. Therefore, in this paper, the optimization problem is decomposed into several smaller problems and a hierarchical scheme is proposed to obtain the solution. The proposed hierarchical scheme consists of three steps: D2D communication groups formation, the estimation of sub-channels needed by each D2D communication group and specific resource allocation. From numerical simulation results, we find that the proposed resource allocation scheme is effective in improving the spectral efficiency and reducing the outage probability of D2D communication.

Physiological and omics analysis of maize inbred lines during late grain development

        Jin Xining,Zhai Huijie,Wang Pingxi,Zhang Xiaoxiang,Wu Xiangyuan,Zhang Huaisheng,Chen Shilin,Huang Zhongwen 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.8

Background: There were significant differences in the change of moisture content and grain composition at the late stage of grain development among different maize varieties, but the regulation mechanism is not clear. Objective: To explore the key genes causing the variation in physiological traits of two typical maize inbred lines in late grain development. Methods: The grains at different development stages were selected as materials to determine the content of water, sucrose, starch and ABA. Transcriptomic and proteomic analysis of the materials were performed to screen relevant genes. Results: The grain dehydration rate and the content of sucrose, starch and ABA were showed significant differences between two varieties in the late stage of grain development. The enrichment analysis of common differentially expressed genes (proteins) showed that most of the genes (proteins) were enriched in the extracellular region. The downregulated genes were mainly concentrated in carbohydrate metabolism and lipid metabolism, while the upregulated genes were mainly in response to stress. Furthermore, this study also identified many key candidate genes (dehydrin genes, pathogenesis-related genes, sucrose synthase and secondary metabolites related genes) related to late grain development of maize. Conclusions: The suggested genes related to late grain development of maize can be candidates for further functional study.

TAp73 and ΔNp73 Have Opposing Roles in 5-aza-2'-Deoxycytidine-Induced Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells

        Lai, Jing,Yang, Fang,Zhang, Wenwen,Wang, Yanru,Xu, Jing,Song, Wei,Huang, Guichun,Gu, Jun,Guan, Xiaoxiang Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2014 Molecules and cells Vol.37 No.8

The p73 gene contains an extrinsic P1 promoter and an intrinsic P2 promoter, controlling the transcription of the pro-apoptotic TAp73 isoform and the anti-apoptotic ${\Delta}Np73$ isoform, respectively. The DNA methylation status of both promoters act equally in the epigenetic transcriptional regulation of their relevant isoforms. The aim of this study was to analyze the different effects of these p73 isoforms in 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC)-induced apoptosis in breast cancer cells. We investigated the effects of the DNA demethylation agent, 5-aza-dC, on the T-47D breast cancer cell line, and evaluated the methylation status of the p73 promoters and expression of TAp73 and ${\Delta}Np73$. Furthermore, we assessed the expression of p53 and p73 isoforms in 5-aza-dC-treated T-47D cells and p53 knockout cells. 5-aza-dC induced significant anti-tumor effects in T-47D cells, including inhibition of cell viability, G1 phase arrest and apoptosis. This was associated with p73 promoter demethylation and a concomitant increase in TAp73 mRNA and protein expression. In contrast, the methylation status of promoter P2 was not associated with ${\Delta}Np73$ mRNA or protein levels. Furthermore, demethylation of P2 failed to inhibit the expression of ${\Delta}Np73$ with 5-aza-dC in the p53 knockdown cell model. Our study suggests that demethylation of the P1 and P2 promoters has opposite effects on the expression of p73 isoforms, namely up-regulation of TAp73 and down-regulation of ${\Delta}Np73$. We also demonstrate that p53 likely contributes to 5-aza-dC-induced ${\Delta}Np73$ transcriptional inactivation in breast cancer cells.
