Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules present peptides on the cell surface to CD8+ T cells, which is critical for the killing of virus-infected or transformed cells. Precursors of MHC class I??presented peptides are trimmed to mature epitopes by the aminopeptidase ERAP1. The US2??US11 genomic region of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is dispensable for viral replication and encodes three microRNAs (miRNAs). We show here that HCMV miR-US4-1 specifically downregulated ERAP1 expression during viral infection. Accordingly, the trimming of HCMV-derived peptides was inhibited, which led to less susceptibility of infected cells to HCMV-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). Our findings identify a previously unknown viral miRNA??based CTL-evasion mechanism that targets a key step in the MHC class I antigen-processing pathway.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of one-step automated orthodontic diagnosis of skeletodental discrepancies using a convolutional neural network (CNN) and lateral cephalogram images with different qualities from nationwide multi-hospitals. Methods: Among 2,174 lateral cephalograms, 1,993 cephalograms from two hospitals were used for training and internal test sets and 181 cephalograms from eight other hospitals were used for an external test set. They were divided into three classification groups according to anteroposterior skeletal discrepancies (Class I, II, and III), vertical skeletal discrepancies (normodivergent, hypodivergent, and hyperdivergent patterns), and vertical dental discrepancies (normal overbite, deep bite, and open bite) as a gold standard. Pre-trained DenseNet-169 was used as a CNN classifier model. Diagnostic performance was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, t-stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE), and gradientweighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM). Results: In the ROC analysis, the mean area under the curve and the mean accuracy of all classifications were high with both internal and external test sets (all, > 0.89 and > 0.80). In the t-SNE analysis, our model succeeded in creating good separation between three classification groups. Grad-CAM figures showed differences in the location and size of the focus areas between three classification groups in each diagnosis. Conclusions: Since the accuracy of our model was validated with both internal and external test sets, it shows the possible usefulness of a one-step automated orthodontic diagnosis tool using a CNN model. However, it still needs technical improvement in terms of classifying vertical dental discrepancies.

Deep learning-based applications have great potential to enhance the quality of medical services. The power of deep learning depends on open databases and innovation. Radiologists can act as important mediators between deep learning and medicine by simultaneously playing pioneering and gatekeeping roles. The application of deep learning technology in medicine is sometimes restricted by ethical or legal issues, including patient privacy and confidentiality, data ownership, and limitations in patient agreement. In this paper, we present an open platform, MI2RLNet, for sharing source code and various pre-trained weights for models to use in downstream tasks, including education, application, and transfer learning, to encourage deep learning research in radiology. In addition, we describe how to use this open platform in the GitHub environment. Our source code and models may contribute to further deep learning research in radiology, which may facilitate applications in medicine and healthcare, especially in medical imaging, in the near future. All code is available at https://github.com/mi2rl/MI2RLNet.

<P>The relation between the low-frequency noise (LFN) and subgap density of states (DOS) of amorphous InGaZnO (a-IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) is investigated by changing the postannealing temperature from 150°C to 300°C. It is found that the density of the tail states in the TFT annealed at 300°C (showing the lowest LFN) is prominently lower than those in the TFTs annealed at 250°C and 150°C. The densities of the tail states in the TFTs annealed at 250°C and 150°C (indicating similar LFN) are almost the same. In addition, it is clearly observed that the increased DOS of the a-IGZO TFT subjected to ac gate voltage stress results in a higher LFN compared with one without electrical stress. Hooge's parameters α<I>H</I>'s are extracted to be ~4.5 × 10-3 (for the TFT annealed at 300°C) and ~1 × 10-2 (for the TFTs annealed at 25°C and 150°C as well as for the TFT annealed at 300°C after the application of electrical ac stress). Therefore, the role of an a-IGZO subgap DOS on a LFN characteristic seems to be originated from the generation-recombination noise-induced carrier number fluctuation (via trap centers in the DOS tail states) while its correlation with the carrier mobility fluctuation is not clear except for the slope close to -1 in the logarithmic curve with the normalized power spectral density versus the gate overdrive voltage.</P>

<P>A saturated Doherty amplifier based on class-F amplifiers is analyzed in terms of its load modulation behavior, efficiency, and linearity. Simulations included the amplitude ratio and phase difference between the fundamental and third harmonic voltages, the current/voltage waveforms, load lines, and the third-order intermodulation amplitudes/phases of the carrier and peaking amplifiers. The saturated doherty power amplifier was implemented using two Eudyna EGN010MK GaN HEMTs with a 10-W peak envelope power. For a 2.14-GHz forward-fink wideband code-division multiple-access signal, the doherty amplifier delivers an excellent efficiency of 52.4% with an acceptable linearity of -28.3 dBc at an average output power of 36 dBm. Moreover, the amplifier can provide the high linearity performance of -50 dBc using the digital feedback predistortion technique.</P>

<P>In this letter, we show that the physics-based equation that was derived for amorphous oxide semiconductor (AOS) thin-film transistors (TFTs) in our previous work can be successfully incorporated into the SPICE model via Verilog-A. The proposed model and extracted SPICE parameters successfully reproduce the measured current-voltage characteristics of amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (a-IGZO) TFTs and the load line diagram of a-IGZO TFT inverters. The main advantage of our model is that each parameter has its physical meaning and most of them can be related with the fabrication conditions of AOS TFTs. To show the advantage of the proposed models and extracted SPICE parameters more clearly, we investigate the effect of ionized donor concentration (<I>N</I>D+) on the inverter circuit operation and determine the optimum value of <I>N</I>D+ and device dimensions considering the tradeoff between the power consumption and the output swing in a-IGZO inverters. The proposed physics-based SPICE model via Verilog-A is expected to play a significant role in the process optimization and circuit design with AOS TFTs.</P>

Two consecutive feeding trials investigated the effects of feeding rate and pellet expansion by water-soaking on the growth performance, blood components and histology of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. The first two experiments were carried out to determine the effects of pellet expansion and feeding rate. In the first experiment, growth performance, feed utilization and survival of fish were not significantly affected by pellet expansion for six weeks. There were no significant differences in hematocrit, hemoglobin, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, glucose and total protein of fish fed the expanded pellet. However, whole-body lipid content of fish in the non-expanded group was significantly higher than that in the expanded group. Histological analysis of the anterior intestine revealed that fish in the expanded group had shorter and smaller mucous folds. These results indicate that pellet expansion had no beneficial effect in terms of growth performance, feed utilization and fish health. In the second experiment, weight gain and feed efficiency were significantly increased as feeding rate increased from 0 2.5% body weight per day (BW/d), but there were no significant differences in weight gain or feeding efficiency in fish fed the expanded pellet at ratios of 2.5% BW/d and satiation for three weeks. Plasma aspartate aminotransferase activity of fish fed the expanded pellet at a ratio of 2.5% was significantly lower than that of starved fish. Histological analysis of the anterior intestine revealed that fish in the 0% group had shorter mucous folds. Broken-line regression analysis suggested that the optimum juvenile olive flounder feeding rate was 3.5% BW/d during the low temperature season (16-17˚C).
