Improvement of dimensional accuracy of blu-ray disc cover layer

In order to obtain uniform thickness of a blu-ray disc cover layer, a CFD analysis and an experimental comparison of the cover layer thickness distribution during the spin-coating process were conducted. The blu-ray disc, a nextgeneration optical disc format having 25GB capacity over, consists of a thermoplastic polymer substrate layer which has a thickness of 1.1㎜, a sputtered reflective metal layer and UV polymer cover layer which has a thickness of 100㎛. Especially, the cover layer, which primarily governs the optical quality of the disc, is made by a precise spin coating process. However, it is still hard to get a satisfactory coating uniformity, typically, the thickness variation of the cover layer should be maintained under ±3㎛, because of the unavoidable bump formed around the rim of the disc. In order to improve the dimensional accuracy of the cover layer, first, through the CFD analyses of spin coating process, the optimal spin coating conditions were obtained; and second, the edge of the disc substrate was modified into various shapes, such as chamfer, round, step, the height of the bump can be kept under the desired accuracy.
An Efficient Data Transfer Control Algorithm of Environment Sensor on Zigbee

In this paper, we proposes an efficient data transfer control algorithm of environment sensor on zigbee. The proposed data transfer control algorithm was an efficient algorithm that simultaneously enables the transfer control of data by comparing the tolerance range of the sensing data on multiple sensor nodes, as the data processing method for the transfer control of sensor data. In this paper, the proposed an efficient multi sensor data transfer control algorithm could alleviate the bottleneck that is concentrated on the sink node by apply the gateway based WLAN, and it could reduce the power consumption of the terminal node. In addition, it provides improved system performance due to the use of an efficient multi sensor data transfer control algorithm that ensures independence by delegation to each task module.

The sensitivity of molecular diagnostics could be affected by nucleotide variants in pathogen genes, and the sites affected by such variants should be monitored. We report a single-nucleotide variant (SNV) in the nucleocapsid (N) gene of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), i.e., G29179T, which impairs the diagnostic sensitivity of the Xpert Xpress SARS-CoV-2 assay (Cepheid, Sunnyvale, CA, USA). We observed significant differences between the threshold cycle (Ct) values for envelope (E) and N genes and confirmed the SNV as the cause of the differences using Sanger sequencing. This SNV, G29179T, is the most prevalent in Korea and is associated with the B.1.497 virus lineage, which is dominant in Korea. Clinical laboratories should be aware of the various SNVs in the SARS-CoV-2 genome and consider their potential effects on the diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Polyurethane (PU) foam was utilized as an efficient and durable template to immobilize surface-functionalized nanocellulose, carboxymethylated cellulose nanofibrils (CMCNFs), to address some of the challenges for the application of nanocellulose to industrial water purification, such as its agglomeration, difficulties in separation from effluent, and regeneration. The composite foams exhibited well dispersed CMCNFs in PU matrices with open pore structure; the hydrogen bonds result in the enhancement of mechanical strength, which is another requirement of ideal adsorbents for wastewater treatment. The composite foams show high adsorption capacity and the potential for recyclability. The combination of optimal surface modification of nanocellulose with isolation and immobilization in durable PU foam achieved an efficient and cost-competitive bio-sorbent for heavy metal ions.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Carboxymethylated cellulose nanofibrils(CMCNFs) is promising metal bio-sorbent. </LI> <LI> Polyurethane(PU) is an appropriate support for sorbent due to macroporous structure. </LI> <LI> 3D network of CMCNFs via PU scaffold is prepared by an in-situ attachment process. </LI> <LI> CMCNFs/PU foam exhibits highly porous structure with improved mechanical property. </LI> <LI> CMCNFs/PU foam shows excellent heavy metal adsorption capacity and recyclability. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P>Chemical studies of gut bacteria of the carpenter ant <I>Camponotus kiusiuensis</I> led to the discovery of two new alkaloids, camporidines A and B (<B>1</B> and <B>2</B>), from <I>Streptomyces</I> sp. STA1. The structures of <B>1</B> and <B>2</B> were established as new polyketide alkaloids bearing a piperidine-cyclopentene-epoxide 6/5/3 tricyclic system based on NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometric analysis. The relative configurations of the camporidines were determined by their <SUP>1</SUP>H-<SUP>1</SUP>H NOESY/ROESY and 1D NOE NMR correlations. The experimental ECD spectra of <B>1</B> and <B>2</B> were compared with their calculated ECD spectra to assign their absolute configurations. Camporidine A (<B>1</B>) displayed antimetastatic activity by suppression of cell invasion against the metastatic breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 and showed an anti-inflammatory effect by suppressing nitric oxide production induced by lipopolysaccharide. In addition, the putative biosynthetic gene cluster of the camporidines was identified, and the biosynthetic pathway of the camporidines was proposed based on bioinformatic analysis of the full genome of <I>Streptomyces</I> sp. STA1. Camporidines A and B (<B>1</B> and <B>2</B>) could be biosynthesized by a modular type I PKS containing an acyl transferase domain that accepts an unusual extender unit, which becomes the (C1′-C6′) hexyl side chain. The post-PKS modification enzymes were predicted to perform an amination and an oxidation along with spontaneous Schiff base formation and generate the unique piperidine-cyclopentene-epoxide 6/5/3 tricyclic framework.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Evaluating e-government from citizens` clickstream data

In the paper, we aim to (i) empirically analyze the extent to which the egovernment Web site demands are attributable to supply-side informatization evaluation predictors and informatization budgets, and (ii) provide comparative assessments of egovernment investments which intend to meet citizens` needs for e-government services. Based on the Web site usage clickstream data and informatization evaluation scores of the ministries and the sub-ministries of Korea during the years of 2003 to 2005, we conduct panel-data regression analyses. The regression results indicate that the majority of citizens` usage of e-government services is explained by ministry-specific and subministry- specific demand characteristics, and higher Web site service quality induces more usage in the case of sub-ministries. These results together with sub-ministries` poor scores of services to citizens and their insignificant correlation with informatization budgets imply that more informatization budgets should be allocated to sub-ministries for services to citizens.

Axl receptor tyrosine kinase has been implicated in cancer progression, invasion, and metastasis in various cancer types. Axl overexpression has been observed in many cancers, and selective inhibitors of Axl, including R428, may be promising therapeutic agents for several human cancers, such as breast, lung, and pancreatic cancers. Here, we examined the cell growth inhibition mediated by R428 and auranofin individually as well as in combination in the human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDAMB- 231 to identify new advanced combination treatments for human breast cancer. Our data showed that combination therapy with R428 and auranofin markedly inhibited cancer cell proliferation. Isobologram analyses of these cells indicated a clear synergism between R428 and auranofin with a combination index value of 0.73. The combination treatment promoted apoptosis as indicated by caspase 3 activation and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage. Cancer cell migration was also significantly inhibited by this combination treatment. Moreover, we found that combination therapy significantly increased the expression level of Bax, a mitochondrial proapoptotic factor, but decreased that of the X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein. Furthermore, the suppression of cell viability and induction of Bax expression by the combination treatment were recovered by treatment with N-acetylcysteine. In conclusion, our data demonstrated that combined treatment with R428 and auranofin synergistically induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells and may thus serve as a novel and valuable approach for cancer therapy.
