Electrical conduction in BaZr_0.95Y_0.05O_2.975. was invesigated. Aging effect was observed in total conductivity. Partial conductivities, contributed, by protons, oxygen ions and electron holes, were determined from the relationship of total conductivity vs. partial pressures of water vapor and oxygen. Protons were minority defects, which had been observed in other zirconate HTPCs. As a result, proton conductivity and total conductivity increased with P_w^1/2

When hydrogen is dissolved in an oxide, protons and electrons make diffusion pair and thus lead to the transport of H_(2) under its chemical potential gradient. The present manuscript develops relationships between the chemical diffusion coefficient of H_(2) and the diffusion coefficient of protons and electrons by determining thermodynamic factor of H_(2), W_(H)_(2). When thermodynamic ideal behavior is assumed for protons and electrons, W_(H)_(2) turns out to be 4. If hydrogen solubility in the oxide follows Henrian ideal behavior, W_(H)_(2)= 1. In case hydrogen solubility obeys Sivert's law, we obtain W_(H)_(2)= 2.

This work demonstrates a method for modeling of electrical conductivity in high-temperature proton-conduction oxides. Total conductivity was calculated assuming that it comprises partial conductivities contributed by proton. oxygen ion and electron hole. From the plot σ_tot vs po_2^1/4 in wet atmosphere, thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were obtained representing transport properties such as concentration and mobility of the charge-carrying defects. The formulae for the calculation of partial conductivities were derived based on the defect structure of HTPCs. Illustrative calculations were made for SrCe_0.95Yb_0.05O_2.976.

The evaluation of patients with microscopic hematuria after blunt abdominal trauma has become controversial. We tested the hypothesis that renal contusion can be diagnosed clinically and that these patients do not require radiographic evaluation. To evaluate the association of microscopic hematuria without shock and with renal injury, we reviewed the medical records of 252 patients following blunt abdominal trauma. Microscopic hematuria without shock was noted in 58 of 252 patients. Of the 58 patients 52 had renal contusion, 4 had renal laceration, 1 had a renal rupture and 1 had renal pedicle injury. All of the patients with renal contusions experienced no complications from nonoperative management. But, avoiding a radiopraphic evaluation in patients with blunt renal trauma plus microscopic hematuria and no shock would miss a few cases of severe renal injury.

Well-ordered nanocolumnar indium oxide (In<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>) thin films have been successfully fabricated by glancing angle deposition (GAD) using an e-beam evaporator. Nanocolumnar structures have a porous and large surface area with a narrow neck between nanocolumns, which allows them to detect minute amounts of gases. The nanocolumnar In<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> thin films were fabricated by the GAD process at five different positions, viz. top, bottom, center, left, and right in a four inch substrate holder. There was a divergence in the thickness and the base resistance of each sensor. However, all the sensors exhibited extremely high sensitivity that was greater than 10<sup>3</sup> times the change in electrical resistance after being exposed to 50 ppm of acetone gas at 300℃. Furthermore, the nanocolumnar In<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> sensors displayed an extremely low detection limit (1.2 ppb) in dry atmosphere as well as in high humidity (80%). We demonstrated that the GAD nanocolumnar In<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> sensors have an enormous potential for many applications owing to their particularly simple and reliable fab-rication process.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, we demonstrate tuning of electrical properties and sensing responses of In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanocolumnar structure via varying glancing angle (GLAD) deposition conditions by e-beam evaporator. The varied deposition conditions include glancing angle, vacuum level and deposition rate. The electrical property of In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanostructured thin films, demonstrated by the base resistance, change up to 3 orders of magnitude from 110Ω to 103104Ω depending on the porosity of nanocolumnar structure and oxygen vacancy concentration. This variation in electrical property transfers to the tuning of gas sensing response, and we achieve tuning the same material (In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>) based gas sensors to better perform for specific type of gases (either oxidizing or reducing). The highest responses achieved in this work reached up to 176 for oxidizing gases (5ppm NO<SUB>2</SUB>, R<SUB>gas</SUB>/R<SUB>air</SUB>) and 929 for reducing gases (50ppmC<SUB>2</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB>OH, R<SUB>air</SUB>/R<SUB>gas</SUB>). Therefore, we demonstrate that gas sensors can be optimized for specific type of target gases with the same material, via simple control of deposition conditions. Along with the high reproduciblility and sensitivity, this puts the nanocolumnar thin film based gas sensors by GLAD with huge potential for further miniaturization and mass production, suitable for the upcoming IoT era.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Nanocolumnar In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> thin film based gas sensor is fabricated by glancing angle deposition (GLAD). </LI> <LI> Electrical properties of In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> can be optimized for specific target gases, tuning simple deposition conditions of GLAD. </LI> <LI> In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> sensors have excellent performances with high repeatability, recovery, and extremely low detection limit. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P>We carried out the near-field optical imaging of isolated and dimerized gold nanocubes to directly investigate the strong coupling between two adjacent nanoparticles. The high-resolution (approximately 10 nm) local field maps (intensities and phases) of self-assembled nanocube dimers reveal antisymmetric plasmon modes that are starkly different from a simple superposition of two monomeric dipole plasmons, which is fully reproduced by the electrodynamics simulations. The result decisively proves that, for the closely spaced pair of nanoparticles (interparticle distance/particle size approximately 0.04), the strong Coulombic attraction between the charges at the interparticle gap dominates over the intraparticle charge oscillations, resulting in a hybridized dimer plasmon mode that is qualitatively different from those expected from a simple dipole-dipole coupling model.</P>
휴대폰 SMS 를 이용한 블루투스 기기의 연결 설정 절차 개선 방안

본 논문에서는 휴대폰 SMS 를 이용한 블루투스 기기의 연결 설정 절차 개선방안을 제안한다. 블루투스 기기 사용을 위해서는 기기간 연결 설정 절차가 필요하고, 연결 설정을 위해 필요로 하는 기기 탐색 시간과 연결 설정 절차의 복잡성으로 인해 블루투스 기기의 시장확산이 저해되고 있는 상황인 바, 이에 대한 개선 방안이 절실한 상황이다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 블루투스 기기의 연결 절차 개선을 위해 별도의 연결 설정 정보를 제공하는 방안을 제안한다. 연결 설정 정보는 휴대폰 SMS 를 통하여 수신되며, 휴대폰에서는 수신한 파일 정보를 Bluetooth HOST 단에 전달하고, Bluetooth HOST 에서는 이를 이용하여 사용자에게 간단한 원 터치 기능을 통해 블루투스 기기의 연결 설정 및 사용이 가능하도록 한다.
