Nanoemulsion oil-in-water (O/W) is generally used to deliver oil-based cosmetic in aqueous media. Nevertheless, producing fine nanoemulsion with uniform nano-sized and high stability is quite challenging, especially when deal with natural products. In this study, we report a formation of micellar nanoemulsion to deliver natural oil-based cosmetic meroterpenoid-rich fraction from the ethanolic extract of Sargassum macrocarpum (MES) using amphiphilic block copolymer. The effects of micelles preparation were systematically investigated in order to achieve optimum nanoemulsion size and stability. The results showed that the mixing order and rasio O to W are crucial factors determined the micelles’ size. In addition, we also analyse the amount of MES that loaded into the micelles core under various conditions and compositions using spectroscopic technique.

In the present study, a series of amphiphilic AB2-type miktoarm star block copolymers consisting of hydrophobic poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) as a A arm and hydrophilic poly(N-acryloylmorpholine) (PNAM) as two B arms were synthesized via the combination of ring opening polymerization and xanthate-mediated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. Resultant polymers were analyzed by 1H NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. Aggregation properties of the amphiphilic miktoarm star block copolymers were studied by fluorescence spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering. Doxorubicin (DOX)was successfully loaded into the miktoarm star block copolymer micelles. The result revealed that DOX release was enhanced as the pH reduced from 7.4 to 6.4.
