갑상선 수질암과 갑상선 유두암의 충돌종양: 5예 증례보고
정호철,김제룡,안병현,이진선,장일성,김진만1,Ho Chul Jeong,Je Ryong Kim,Byong Hyon Ahn,Jin Sun Lee,Eil Sung Chang,Jin Man Kim1 대한갑상선-내분비외과학회 2014 The Koreran journal of Endocrine Surgery Vol.14 No.1
Medullary thyroid carcinoma and papillary thyroid carcinoma are different subtypes of thyroid carcinoma. The concomitant occurrence of medullary thyroid carcinoma and papil-lary thyroid carcinoma as a collision tumor is rare. We describe five cases of medullary and papillary thyroid carcinoma as a collision tumor. Four women and one man underwent thyroidectomy for treatment of thyroid cancer. Collision tumor was then detected by histopathologic finding. Genetic testing, point mutation of the BRAF gene or mutation of the RET gene was performed in three cases. However, only one case had point mutation of the BRAF gene. Exact diagnosis of this uncommon event is important because the strategies for treatment of papillary thyroid carcinoma and medullary thyroid carcinoma are different.

The toxicity of CKD-602 was investigated at doses of 3, 9, and 27 mg/kg in rats, when the same total dose of CKD-602 was administered over 24 hr-continuous infusion or bolus injection. At 3 and 9 mg/kg, the 24-hr infusion group showed a more decreased WBC count on day 3, compared with the bolus group. Administration of CKD-602 caused more toxic effects such as the significant decreases of RBC counts, hematocrit, hemoglobin, and platelet count on day 7 post-administarion in the 24-hr infusion group than in the bolus group. Administration of CKD-602 also caused histopathological changes such as extramedullary hemopoiesis of liver and spleen, hyperplasia of femoral bone marrow, and caecal dilation. These toxic effects were more severe in the 24-hr infusion group than in the bolus injection group, indicating that the toxicity of CKD-602 may be dependant upon the duration of administration.
Dynamic simulation of squeezing flow of ER fluids using parallel processing
Kim, Do-Hoon,Chu, Sang-Hyon,Ahn, Kyung-Hyun,Lee, Seung-Jong The Korean Society of Rheology 1999 Korea-Australia rheology journal Vol.11 No.3
In order to understand the flow behavior of Electrorheological (ER) fluid, dynamic simulation has been intensively performed for the last decade. When the shear flow is applied, it is easy to carry out the simulation with relatively small number of particles because of the periodic boundary condition. For the squeezing flow, however, it is not easy to apply the periodic boundary condition, and the number of particles needs to be increased to simulate the ER system more realistically. For this reason, the simulation of ER fluid under squeezing flow has been mostly performed with some representative chains or with the approximation that severely restricts the flow geometry to reduce the computational load. In this study, Message Passing Interface (MPI), which is one of the most widely-used parallel processing techniques, has been employed in a dynamic simulation of ER fluid under squeezing flow. As the number of particles used in the simulation could be increased significantly, full domain between the electrodes has been covered. The numerical treatment or the approximation used to reduce the computational load has been evaluated for its validity, and was found to be quite effective. As the number of particles is increased, the fluctuation of the normal stress becomes diminished and the prediction in general was found to be qualitatively In good agreement with the experimental results.
Induction of Apoptosis in the Testes of SD Rats After Exposure to 2-Bromopropane
Kim, Young-Hee,Cho, Sung-Whan,Ha, Chang-Su,Kang, Boo-Hyon Korean Society of ToxicologyKorea Environmental Mu 2001 Toxicological Research Vol.17 No.4
Exposure to 2-Bromopropane has been known to cause degeneration of male germ cells. However the mechanism underlying this process is poorly understood. The objective of this study was to determine whether or not the exposure of male Sprague-Dawley rats to 2-BP induces apoptosis in male germ cells. Male rats(N=3 or 4 in each group) were orally administered either with the corn oil vehicle (10 ml/kg body weight) or with 2-BP (3,500 mg/kg) once a day for 3 days. The presence of apoptosis was determined by TUNEL detection in situ and by an increase in DNA fragmentation. A low spontaneous incidence of apoptosis was observed in vehicle control animals, especially in pre-meiotic germ cells of stages I-VI and stages XII-XIV the seminiferous tubules. In 2-BP exposure rats, the incidence of apoptosis markedly increased at 4 h, reached a peak at 8 h (about 7-fold over control), and then decreased rapidly to control level by 48 h after the last administration. Although apoptosis induced by 2-BP occurred in all stages of germ cells, it was most pronounced in spermatogonia and early spermatocytes in stages I-VI and stages XII-XIV. Taken together, our results suggest that apoptosis is involved in the toxicity of testicular germ cells resulting in oligospermia or azoospermia after exposure to 2-BP.
Scalable manufacturing of boron nitride nanotubes and their assemblies: a review
Kim, Keun Su,Kim, Myung Jong,Park, Cheol,Fay, Catharine C,Chu, Sang-Hyon,Kingston, Christopher T,Simard, Benoit Institute of Physics 2017 Semiconductor science and technology Vol.32 No.1

Boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) are wide bandgap semiconducting materials with a quasiparticle energy gap larger than 6.0 eV. Since their first synthesis in 1995, there have been considerable attempts to develop novel BNNT-based applications in semiconductor science and technology. Inspired by carbon nanotube synthesis methods, many BNNT synthesis methods have been developed so far; however, it has been very challenging to produce BNNTs at a large scale with the structural quality high enough for exploring practical applications. Very recently there has been significant progress in the scalable manufacturing of high-quality BNNTs. In this article, we will review those particular breakthroughs and discuss their impact on semiconductor industries. Freestanding BNNT assemblies such as transparent thin films, yarns or buckypapers are highly advantageous in the development of novel BNNT-based semiconductor devices. The latest achievements in their manufacturing processes will be also presented along with their potential applications.

Frontal Face Detection Based on Skin Color Segmentation and Partial Face Classifier
Sung-Hoon Kim,Hyon-Soo Lee 대한전자공학회 2009 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2009 No.7
This paper proposes a frontal face detection system based on skin color segmentation and partial face classifier. Firstly, the non-skin color pixels in the input image are removed by the skin color classifier which uses the mixed color model in RGB and CbCr spaces. Secondly, possible face block positions are detected by using the face detector which consists of the partial face classifier and the facial structure test. The experimental result for the proposed face detection system showed 95.3% detection rate.
