      • Geotextile Filter의 특수성능 분석

        權武南,李相昊,金勝勳 慶北大學校 1992 論文集 Vol.52 No.-

In order to lock stability of geotextile filer to clogging or blocking, small scale laboratory tests were accomplished, considering to drainage conditions, on domestic and foreign nonwoven geotextile products used for filter, and permeable capacity of the geotextile filter was analyzed. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The permeable flow rate through the geotextile filter appears to be decrease remarkably in the initial stage of duration time but gradually afterward and is stabilized at 300 hours∼400 hours of duration time. 2. The increase ratio of permeable flow rate through the geotextile filter due to rising hydraulic head appears to be higher with protected soil having lower comparative content of fine particles, and the effect of rising hydraulic head finds to be higher with that protected soil. 3. The permeable flow rate through the geotextile filter appears to be higher with protected soil having lower content of fine particles and the increase of it trends to be considerable and to be decrease according to the elapse of time. From the fact, the flow rate finds to be more influenced by clogging or blocking with protected soil layer having lower content of fine particles. 4. It seems generally that the thicker the geotextile filter is, the higher the permeable flow rate is, but the decrease ratio of it in the initial stage finds to be lower in the case of thicker geotextile.

Surface-modified polymer nanofiber membrane for high-efficiency microdust capturing

        Kim, Han-Jung,Park, Seon Joo,Park, Chul Soon,Le, Thanh-Hai,Hun Lee, Sang,Ha, Tai Hwan,Kim, Hyoung-il,Kim, Jinyeong,Lee, Chang-Soo,Yoon, Hyeonseok,Kwon, Oh Seok Elsevier 2018 Chemical Engineering Journal Vol.339 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Particulate matter (PM) pollution is serious human health issue. Various filter technologies have been developed to improve the air filtration efficiency. Recently, nanofibrous membrane filters have received much attention due to its outstanding transparency and high efficiency for PM ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5) capture/removal compared to conventional micro-structured filters. Although these filters provide high-efficiency PM2.5 capture, obtaining strong PM adhesion via surface engineering remains a challenge. In this study, we demonstrate a high efficiency PM2.5 capture air-filter by electrospun polyacrylonitrile nanofibers (EPNFs). The surface of the EPNFs was modified by oxygen plasma treatment for generating functional groups such as CONH2, COOH and COOR. The EPNFs were utilized as air filter in hand-made PM removal system which is consisted of DC power supply, PM source, PM sensor and PM removal test chamber. The test result showed high air flow and effective air filtration (PM2.5 removal efficiency: 94.02%, pressure drop: 18 Pa, Time to reach the PM level recommended by the World Health Organization (TWHO PM2.5): 15 min, quality factor: 0.1564 Pa−1) compared to commercial filters. The intermolecular interaction between the plasma-treated EPNFs (PEPNFs) and PMs was investigated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The PEPNF filter showed high long-term reproducibility in a cycle test with a high PM concentration (over 2,000 μg m−3). The filter was applied as a car interior air purifier using a cigar jack as a power supply, <I>ca.</I> 16 min was required to reach the PM level recommended by the World Health Organization (<25 μg m−3).</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Surface-modified nanofibers were effective for particulate matter (PM) filtration. </LI> <LI> Intermolecular interaction was studied using density functional theory calculation. </LI> <LI> A car interior air purifier was demonstrated using the nanofiber membrane. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • Coaxial Fiber Supercapacitor Using All-Carbon Material Electrodes

        Le, Viet Thong,Kim, Heetae,Ghosh, Arunabha,Kim, Jaesu,Chang, Jian,Vu, Quoc An,Pham, Duy Tho,Lee, Ju-Hyuck,Kim, Sang-Woo,Lee, Young Hee American Chemical Society 2013 ACS NANO Vol.7 No.7

<P>We report a coaxial fiber supercapacitor, which consists of carbon microfiber bundles coated with multiwalled carbon nanotubes as a core electrode and carbon nanofiber paper as an outer electrode. The ratio of electrode volumes was determined by a half-cell test of each electrode. The capacitance reached 6.3 mF cm–1 (86.8 mF cm–2) at a core electrode diameter of 230 μm and the measured energy density was 0.7 μWh cm–1 (9.8 μWh cm–2) at a power density of 13.7 μW cm–1 (189.4 μW cm–2), which were much higher than the previous reports. The change in the cyclic voltammetry characteristics was negligible at 180° bending, with excellent cycling performance. The high capacitance, high energy density, and power density of the coaxial fiber supercapacitor are attributed to not only high effective surface area due to its coaxial structure and bundle of the core electrode, but also all-carbon materials electrodes which have high conductivity. Our coaxial fiber supercapacitor can promote the development of textile electronics in near future.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2013/ancac3.2013.7.issue-7/nn4016345/production/images/medium/nn-2013-016345_0008.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn4016345'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Detection of unusual rotavirus genotypes G8P[8] and G12P[6] in South Korea

        Le, Van Phan,Kim, Ji-Yeon,Cho, Sung-Lim,Nam, Sun-Woo,Lim, Inseok,Lee, Hee-Joong,Kim, Kijeong,Chung, Sang-In,Song, Wonkeun,Lee, Kyu Man,Rhee, Moon-Soo,Lee, Jung-Sook,Kim, Wonyong Wiley Subscription Services, Inc., A Wiley Company 2008 Journal of medical virology Vol.80 No.1

<P>Five hundred four fecal specimens, collected between 2004 and 2006 from young children with acute diarrhea, were screened for rotavirus by ELISA with VP6-specific antibody. Of these samples, 394 (78.2%) were confirmed as group A rotavirus and they underwent G- and P typing using a combination of ELISA, RT-PCR, and sequence analysis methods. The dominant circulating G serotype was G1 (35.6%) followed by G3 (26.4%), G4 (14.7%), and G2 (11.9%). There was a low prevalence of G9 (1.0%) and of unusual G type rotavirus, in particular, G12 (0.5%) and G8 (0.3%). Of the P genotype rotavirus in circulation, P[8] (53.0%) was most common followed by P[6] (15.5%), P[4] (15.2%), and P[9] (2.3%). Determination of G- and P type combinations revealed that G1P[8] strains were most prevalent (25.4%), amid G3P[8] (16.8%), G2P[4] (6.3%), and G4P[6] (6.1%) strains. Unusual or rare combinations such as G2P[6], G2P[8], G3P[4], G2P[9], G1P[9], G3P[9], G12P[6], G1P[4], G3P[6], and G8P[8] were also found. Owing to the recent emergence of G8 and G12 rotavirus, the findings from this study are important since they provide new information concerning the local and global spread of rotavirus genotypes. J. Single and 28-day Repeated Dose Toxicity Studies of Coumarin in the Minipig

        Sang-Koo Le,Youn-Sang Kweon,Chester D Solis,Shin-Joung Rho,Tae-Ho Kim 한국실험동물학회 2008 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.24 No.3

The minipig is becoming increasingly used as a test animal both in pharmacological and toxicological studies of new drugs. Coumarin is a natural product which presents in foodstuffs and use in clinical medicine. However, coumarin shows marked toxicity in some species of animals and species differences in toxicity depend on metabolic activation of coumarin. Enzymatic process of coumarin metabolism in minipig is similar to that of human. This study was conducted to compare the toxicity data of coumarin in the minipig with other animal species and to confirm the usefulness of minipig in the regulatory toxicity studies. Single and 28 day repeated-dose toxicity studies of coumarin were conducted using minipigs. In the single dose toxicity study, maximum tolerated dose (MTD) value of coumarin was determined to be a 200 ㎎/㎏/day and liver was decided as a target organ. Based on the single dose toxicity study, twenty-eight day repeated dose study was conducted at dose levels of 0, 50, 100, and 200 ㎎/㎏/day. Middle and high dose minipigs showed clinical signs and pathological lesions in the liver and kidneys. Low dose group minipigs did not display any clinical signs and functional abnormalities considered to have relation with coumarin treatment, but showed significant increase of liver weight. From the above findings, no observable effect level (NOEL) of minipig was determined to be below 50 ㎎/㎏/day.

      • Pharmacokinetic study comparing pure desoxo-narchinol A and nardosinonediol with extracts from <i>Nardostachys jatamansi</i>

Le, Vu Ngoc Han,Zhao, Yan,Cho, Chong Woon,Na, MinKyun,Quan, Khong Trong,Kim, Jang Hoon,Hwang, Sung Yeoun,Kim, Sang Wook,Kim, Kyung Tae,Kang, Jong Seong Elsevier 2018 Journal of chromatography. B, Analytical technolog Vol.1102 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Nardostachyos Radix et Rhizoma (NR) is a valuable medicinal herb widely used in Korea, India, and China for the treatment of many diseases. Desoxo-narchinol A (DA) and nardosinonediol (ND) are the two main bioactive compounds belonging to the sesquiterpene group. Desoxo-narchinol A possesses anti-inflammatory activity while ND exhibits anti-depressant and cardioprotective activities. A pharmacokinetic study is important to decide whether the isolated compounds or the NR extract have better pharmacological activity. Hence, we developed an analytical method for studying the pharmacokinetics of DA and ND after oral administration of the pure compounds and herbal extract. An optimized liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method (LC-MS/MS) with solid-phase extraction (SPE) for sample preparation was developed. A ZORBAX Extend C18 column (2.1 × 50 mm, 3.5 μm) was used under gradient elution with acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid in water as the mobile phase. Validation experiments assessing accuracy, precision, and stability were satisfactory; the lower limit of quantification was 5 ng/mL. For the pharmacokinetic study, three groups of rats were administrated pure DA, pure ND, or NR extract orally. Concentrations of DA and ND in their plasma were determined by the developed method. Pharmacokinetic parameters, including the time to achieve maximum plasma concentration (<I>T</I> <I>max</I> ) and the area under the plasma concentration curve from time zero to infinity (<I>AUC</I> 0–∞), were compared for the herbal extract and pure compounds. The <I>T</I> <I>max</I> of the pure compound and the NR extract for DA was 7.50 and 8.33 min, respectively, compared to 5.00 and 5.83 min for the pure compound and the NR extract for ND, respectively. The <I>AUC</I> 0–∞ of the pure compound and the NR extract for DA was 156.34 and 133.90 μg min/mL, respectively, and that for the NR extract for ND was 6.42 and 4.15 μg min/mL, respectively. LC-MS/MS was used to determine DA and ND in rat plasma. The pharmacokinetic profile of each pure compound and those in the extract were characterized and compared.</P>
