Development of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTPIB) Inhibitors from marine sources and other natural products-Future of Antidiabetic Therapy : A Systematic Review

KAUR, Kulvinder Kochar,ALLAHBADIA, Gautam,SINGH, Mandeep Korea FoodHealth Convergence Association 2019 식품보건융합연구 (KJFHC) Vol.5 No.3

The incidence of both obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus( DM) is increasing proportionately so that causes of deaths from these has overtaken from that of malnourishment. Hence it has been recommended to treat the 2 in parallel considering the role of diabesity on health. Important causes of T2DM are insulin resistance (IR) and /or inadequate insulin secretion. Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B(PTPIB) has a negative impact in insulin signaling pathways and hence plays crucial role inT2DM,since its overexpression might induce IR. Thus PTPIB is considered a therapeutic target for both obesity and T2DM, there has been a search for novel ,promising natural inhibitors. We conducted a pubmed search for articles related to PTPIB inhibitors from natural causes be it marine sources or other natural sources. Out of 988 articles we selected 100 articles for review. Thus various bioactive molecules isolated from marine organisms that can acts as PTPIB Inhibitors and thus possess antidiabetic activity both in vitro/ in vivo studies ,besides products from fruits like Chinese raspberry or curcumin used as routine spices are described with their chemical classes, structure-activity relationships and potency as assessed by IC 50 values are discussed. More work is required to make this a reality.

Correlation between Epidurographic Contrast Flow Patterns and Clinical Effectiveness in Chronic Lumbar Discogenic Radicular Pain Treated with Epidural Steroid Injections Via Different Approaches

Gupta, Ruchi,Singh, Saru,Kaur, Sukhdeep,Singh, Kulvinder,Aujla, Kuljeet The Korean Pain Society 2014 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.27 No.4

Background: Epidural steroid injections are an accepted procedure for the conservative management of chronic backache caused by lumbar disc pathology. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the epidurographic findings for the midline, transforaminal and parasagittal approaches in lumbar epidural steroid injections, and correlating them with the clinical improvement. Methods: Sixty chronic lower back pain patients with unilateral radiculitis from a herniated/degenerated disc were enrolled. After screening the patients according to the exclusion criteria and randomly allocating them to 3 groups of 20 patients, fluoroscopic contrast enhanced epidural steroids were injected via midline (group 1), transforaminal (group 2) and parasagittal interlaminar (group 3) approaches at the level of the pathology. The fluoroscopic patterns of the three groups were studied and correlated with the clinical improvement measured by the VAS over the next 3 months; any incidences of complications were recorded. Results: The transforaminal group presented better results in terms of VAS reduction than the midline and parasagittal approach groups (P < 0.05). The epidurography showed a better ventral spread for both the transforaminal (P < 0.001) and the paramedian approaches (P < 0.05), as compared to the midline approach. The nerve root filling was greater in the transforaminal group (P < 0.001) than in the other two groups. The ventral spread of the contrast agent was associated with improvement in the VAS score and this difference was statistically significant in group 1 (P < 0.05), and highly significant in groups 2 and 3 (P < 0.001). In all the groups, any complications observed were transient and minor. Conclusions: The midline and paramedian approaches are technically easier and statistically comparable, but clinically less efficacious than the transforaminal approach. The incidence of ventral spread and nerve root delineation show a definite correlation with clinical improvement. However, an longer follow-up period is advisable for a better evaluation of the actual outcom.

      • Thomson Effect in Magneto-Thermoelastic Material with Hyperbolic two temperature and Modified Couple Stress Theory

Iqbal Kaur,Kulvinder Singh 국제구조공학회 2022 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.45 No.6

This research deals with the study of the Thomson heating effect in magneto-thermoelastic homogeneous isotropic rotating medium, influenced by linearly distributed load and as a result of modified couple stress theory. The charge density is taken as a function of the time of the induced electric current. The heat conduction equation with energy dissipation and with hyperbolic two-temperature (H2T) is used to formulate the model of the problem. Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to solve this mathematical model. Various components of displacement, temperature change, and axial stress as well as couple stress are obtained from the transformed domain. To get the solution in physical domain, numerical inversion techniques have been employed. The Thomson effect with GN (Green-Nagdhi) -III theory and Modified Couple Stress Theory (MCST) is shown graphically on the physical quantities.

      • Effect of nonlocal-nonsingular Fractional Moore-Gibson-Thompson theory in semiconductor cylinder

        Iqbal Kaur,Kulvinder Singh Techno-Press 2023 Advances in nano research Vol.15 No.4

This study is aimed to investigate the electrically conductive properties of epoxy nanocomposites exposed to an acidic environment under various mechanical loads. For simultaneous assessment of the acidic environment and mechanical load on the electrical conductivity of the samples, the samples with and without carbon nanotubes were exposed to the acidic environment under three different loading conditions for 20 days. Then, the aged samples' strength and flexural stiffness degradation under crude oil and bending stress were measured using a three-point flexural test. The aged samples in the acidic environment and under 80 percent of their intact ultimate strength revealed a 9% and 26% reduction of their electrical conductivity for samples with and without CNTs, respectively. The presence of nanoparticles declined flexural stiffness by about 16.39%. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of the specimen were used to evaluate the dispersion quality of CNTs. The results of this study can be exploited in constructing conductive composite electrodes to be used in petroleum environments such as crude oil electrostatic tanks.

      • Thermoelastic damping in generalized simply supported piezo-thermo-elastic nanobeam

Iqbal Kaur,Parveen Lata,Kulvinder Singh 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.81 No.1

The present paper deals with the application of one dimensional piezoelectric materials in particular piezo-thermoelastic nanobeam. The generalized piezo-thermoelastic theory with two temperature and Euler Bernoulli theory with small scale effects using nonlocal Eringen’s theory have been used to form the mathematical model. The ends of nanobeam are considered to be simply supported and at a constant temperature. The mathematical model so formed is solved to obtain the nondimensional expressions for lateral deflection, electric potential, thermal moment, thermoelastic damping and frequency shift. Effect of frequency and nonlocal parameter on the lateral deflection, electric potential, thermal moment with generalized piezothermoelastic theory are represented graphically using the MATLAB software. Comparisons are made with the different theories of thermoelasticity.

      • Effect of thermal laser pulse in transversely isotropic Magneto-thermoelastic solid due to Time-Harmonic sources

        Lata, Parveen,Kaur, Iqbal,Singh, Kulvinder Techno-Press 2020 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.9 No.4

The present research deals with the time-harmonic deformation in transversely isotropic magneto thermoelastic solid with two temperature (2T), rotation due to inclined load and laser pulse. Generalized theory of thermoelasticity has been formulated for this mathematical model. The entire thermo-elastic medium is rotating with uniform angular velocity and subjected to thermally insulated and isothermal boundaries. The inclined load is supposed to be a linear combination of a normal load and a tangential load. The Fourier transform techniques have been used to find the solution to the problem. The displacement components, stress components, and conductive temperature distribution with the horizontal distance are computed in the transformed domain and further calculated in the physical domain using numerical inversion techniques. The effect of angle of inclination of normal and tangential load for Green Lindsay Model and time-harmonic source for Lord Shulman model is depicted graphically on the resulting quantities.

Shape and anatomical relationship of the mental foramen to the mandibular premolars in an Indian sub-population: a retrospective CBCT analysis

        Sheth Komal,Banga Kulvinder Singh,Pawar Ajinkya M.,Gutmann James L.,Kim Hyeon-Cheol 대한치과보존학회 2022 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.47 No.1

Objectives This study assessed the shape and anatomical relationship of the mental foramen (MF) to mandibular posterior teeth in an Indian sub-population. Materials and Methods In total, 475 existing cone-beam computed tomography records exhibiting 950 MFs and including the bilateral presence of mandibular premolars and first molars were assessed. Images were evaluated 3-dimensionally to ascertain the position, shape, and anatomical proximity of MFs to mandibular teeth. The position and shape of MFs were measured and calculated. The Pythagorean theorem was used to calculate the distance between the root apex of the mandibular teeth and the MF. Results MFs exhibited a predominantly round shape (left: 67% and right: 65%) followed by oval (left: 30% and right: 31%) in both males and females and in different age groups. The root apices of mandibular second premolars (left: 71% and right: 62%) were closest to the MF, followed by distal to the first premolars and mesial to the second premolars. The mean vertical distance between the MF and the nearest tooth apex calculated on sagittal sections was 2.20 mm on the right side and 2.32 mm on the left side; no significant difference was found according to sex or age. The distance between the apices of the teeth and the MF was ≥ 4 mm (left; 4.09 ± 1.27 mm and right; 4.01 ± 1.15 mm). Conclusions These findings highlight the need for clinicians to be aware of the location of the MF in treatment planning and while performing non-surgical and surgical endodontic procedures. • Propagation of plane wave in transversely isotropic magneto-thermoelastic material with multi-dual-phase lag and two temperature

        Lata, Parveen,Kaur, Iqbal,Singh, Kulvinder Techno-Press 2020 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.9 No.5

This research is devoted to the study of plane wave propagation in homogeneous transversely isotropic (HTI) magneto-thermoelastic rotating medium with combined effect of Hall current and two temperature due to multi-dual-phase lag heat transfer. It is analysed that, for 2-D assumed model, three types of coupled longitudinal waves (quasi-longitudinal, quasi-transverse and quasi-thermal) are present. The wave characteristics like phase velocity, specific loss, attenuation coefficients, energy ratios, penetration depths and amplitude ratios of transmitted and reflected waves are computed numerically and illustrated graphically and compared for different theories of thermoelasticity. Some particular cases are also derived from this research.
