<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>An ethyl 4,4,4-trifluorobutyrate (ETFB) additive, with ester and partially fluorinated alkyl moieties, is employed to stabilize the interface structure of Ni-rich layered LiNi0.7Co0.15Mn0.15O2 (NCM) cathodes and graphite anodes. The analysis of the surface chemistry of the electrodes shows that ETFB serves as a bifunctional additive for constructing protective layers on both electrodes in a full cell. Cycling tests reveal that the addition of 1% ETFB leads to excellent capacity retention (84.8%) for the NCM/graphite full cell, which also delivers a superior discharge capacity of 167 mAh g−1 and a high Coulombic efficiency of over 99.8% after 300 cycles at 45 °C. The ETFB-derived protective layer effectively reduces intergranular cracking in secondary NCM cathode particles upon repeated charge-discharge cycling and limits the dissolution of transition metal ions from the cathode at high temperatures. In addition, after ETFB reduction, the graphite anode develops a thermally stable interface structure, which suppresses the self-discharge of graphite coupled with the NCM cathode at 60 °C.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> ETFB modifies the interface structure of NCM cathodes and graphite anodes. </LI> <LI> ETFB-added electrolyte improves cycling performance of NCM/graphite full cells. </LI> <LI> SEI layer formed via ETFB reduces intergranular cracking of NCM cathodes. </LI> <LI> ETFB suppresses self-discharge of charged graphite anodes at 60 °C. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Background: Rosacea with severe neurologic symptoms such as burning and stinging is often not effectively treated with conventional therapies. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of Korean rosacea patients with prominent neurological symptoms. Methods: In the present study, the demographic features, medical history, clinical manifestations, and treatment modalities of 17 neurogenic rosacea patients that had prominent neurologic symptoms and 106 erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR) patients are investigated as a control group. Results: All seventeen neurogenic rosacea patients had severe persistent erythema with burning/stinging sensation limited to both cheeks. Among these patients, 94.1% were female (16/17), 23.6 % had dyslipidemia (4/17), 17.7 % had hypertension (3/17), and 17.7% had psychiatric diseases. Heat stimuli (58.8 %, [10/17]), and stress (52.9 %, [9/17]) were major aggravating factors. Cold stimuli alleviated the symptoms in half of the patients (41.2 %, [7/17]). Fourteen of seventeen patients (82.3 %) improved after receiving anticonvulsants and antidepressants. Conclusion: Rosacea patients with severe neurologic symptoms show distinct clinical manifestations and should be classified separately, and a different therapeutic approach is necessary for them

<P>A paramagnetic cobalt-SiH intermediate possessing the Co-(eta(1)-H-Si) moiety was studied using various spectroscopic techniques. Frozen solution ENDOR experiments show a Co-H distance of similar to 1.53 angstrom and a Si-Co-H angle of similar to 15 degrees, whereas XRD data suggest a TBP geometry about a Co(II) centre. Its stepwise deprotonation with base followed by dehalogenation was identified experimentally and theoretically.</P>
Assessment in Translation and Interpretation : Status and Future Direction

What are the assessment methods in practice for interpreters and translators in Korea and other nations in the Asia pacific region? Each country/market seems to have certain practices or systems in place to evaluate T&I professionals. In some cases, there are national accreditation or certification systems that work as a guarantee of the quality for the users of translation and interpretation, but in many countries, the major assessment seems to take place when students of T&I graduate courses finish their training and enter the market. This paper takes the case of the examination system of Ewha Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation to explore how such systems are being implemented and how this type of assessment method provides criteria of identifying "quality" interpreters and translators for the T&I market. The paper will also seek to provide some recommendations for the future improvement of assessment in translation and interpretation.

This study was performed to investigate whether an intra-articular injection of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) receptor agonist, resiniferatoxin (RTX) would alleviate behavioral signs of arthritic pain in a rat model of osteoarthritis (OA). We also sought to determine the effect of RTX treatment on calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) expression in the spinal cord. Knee joint inflammation was induced by intra-articular injection of monosodium iodoacetate (MIA, $8mg/50{\mu}l$) and weight bearing percentage on right and left hindpaws during walking, paw withdrawal threshold to mechanical stimulation, and paw withdrawal latency to heat were measured to evaluate pain behavior. Intra-articular administration of RTX (0.03, 0.003 and 0.0003%) at 2 weeks after the induction of knee joint inflammation significantly improved reduction of weight bearing on the ipsilateral hindlimb and increased paw withdrawal sensitivity to mechanical and heat stimuli. The reduction of pain behavior persisted for 3~10 days according to each behavioral test. The MIA-induced increase in CGRP immunoreactivity in the spinal cord was decreased by RTX treatment in a dose-dependent manner. The present study demonstrated that a single intra-articular administration of RTX reduced pain behaviors for a relatively long time in an experimental model of OA and could normalize OA-associated changes in peptide expression in the spinal cord.
Capturing the Complexity of Preschool Teachers’ Work: A Discussion of Temporal Dimensions
( Koeun Kim ) 한국유아교육학회 2018 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION Vol.24 No.1
Based on an in-depth, qualitative study of Head Start teachers’ work in the United States, this study examines the distinctive nature and complexity of early childhood teachers’ work from multi-faceted temporal perspectives. This study accounts for the daily struggles and the significant effort required of preschool teachers to negotiate their work in the current regulatory policy environment. Findings highlight the multiple relational demands currently made on teachers to perform caring work in the context of team teaching/working. In the process, this study challenges the current undue emphasis on teachers’ personal (ir)responsibility to manage their time, while making visible how daily teacher practices come into conflict with the dominant clock time assumptions. I suggest that more research is necessary to address teachers’ gendered and embodied temporal experiences, which are inseparable from power relations, in order to advance our knowledge and understanding of teachers’ work experiences and advocate for their well-being.
