      • Measurement of Skin Hydration Using IoT Devices

        ( Jongmi Lim ),( Heyjin Song ),( Changhee Han ),정세규 ( Sekyoo Jeong ) 한국피부장벽학회 2016 한국피부장벽학회지 Vol.18 No.1

Non-invasive measurement of skin functions, such as epidermal permeability barrier function, skin hydration and skin surface pH, generally requires specialized apparatus and controlled environmental conditions (i.e., temperature and relative humidity). While these data can provide invaluable information about the skin functions, they can only represent skin functions under specific experimental conditions. In order to analyze the changes of skin functions according to the practical environmental changes, such as by seasonal change or air pollution status, large number of data sets over a long-term measurement period are required. Considering the price and measurement protocols, classical measurement apparatuses are not practically applicable for these kinds of studies. Recent advances in IoT (internet of things) technology and sensor technology have made it possible for developing various kinds of wearable devices, which can track and record enormous number of data sets from human behaviors. Recently, we developed a portable device that measures the skin hydration and stores the data using IoT technology. Hypothetically, it can provide enough data sets which make it available to analyze the overall tendency of skin functions. While there are clear limits of these approaches, such as uncontrolled measurement conditions and non-standardized measurement protocols, big data analysis may overcome these limitations. In this talk, results of preliminary study will be discussed and further study plans with the device will suggested.

        임종미 ( Lim Jongmi ),서용성,이단비 사법정책연구원 2023 연구보고서 Vol.2023 No.1

The Ministry of Justice introduced the Family Litigation Act Amendment Bill to the National Assembly on November 10, 2022, with the goal of strengthening children's rights in divorce and other family cases. The bill is the result of years of debate and research, which began in 2013 when the Supreme Court of Korea established the Family Litigation Act Amendment Committee and set out to completely amend the Family Litigation Act. The major provisions governing divorce proceedings account for the significant impact of family trial outcomes on minor children by requiring hearings to seek minors' opinions in the event of a trial that directly affects their welfare. The bill also contains the appointment of procedural assistants, whose role is to determine and report to the court minors' intentions in judicial proceedings, thereby aiming to reinforce the rights and welfare of minors. Disappointingly, even if the aforementioned bill is passed by the National Assembly, it does not enhance the rights or welfare of children in uncontested divorce proceedings. This is because an uncontested divorce proceeding is not part of a family case and thus not subject to the Family Litigation Act. Korea’s current uncontested divorce proceeding is the process chosen by most couples seeking a divorce, but it has been overlooked because it does not involve a trial. The Civil Act was amended in 2007 to strengthen the court's guardianship function in order to protect children, but the court almost never intervenes as a guardian in uncontested divorce proceedings for the reasons stated above. Accordingly, this study examines the current operational status of the uncontested divorce proceeding and analyzes the issues associated with uncontested divorce from various perspectives in order to suggest improvements aimed at enhancing the welfare of minor children. It also considers bringing in experts to help with the fulfillment of visitation rights and to address the issue of visitation failures that affect divorced families in our society. To do so, the study examines the visitation expert systems of Germany and Austria. Expecting immediate change may be difficult because improvements to the uncontested divorce process and the introduction of visitation experts will be accompanied by budgetary constraints. However, it is hoped that the recommendations made in this study will be useful in the future when the uncontested divorce process is improved and welfare policies for divorced families are established.

      • Autophagy Stimulation Upregulated Collagen Synthesis in Cultured Human Fibroblast

        ( Kyungsook Yoo ),( Jiyeon Park ),( Sungwoo Kim ),( Jongmi Lim ),( Heijin Song ),( Hyunjung Kim ),( Sekyoo Jeong ) 한국피부장벽학회 2016 한국피부장벽학회지 Vol.18 No.2

Autophagy can be defined as a self-digestive process, targeting internal or damaged organelles and misfolded proteins to lysosomal degradation. While its major role is a survival mechanism under stress conditions, such as nutrient restriction, it can also affect various cellular responses including inflammation, aging, and immune responses. Along with the clinical implications in various human diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases, infection, and cancer, recent reports also suggested the potential involvement of autophagy in skin aging. In order to investigate the roles of autophagy in skin physiology, amino acid based chemical library was established and potential autophagy stimulating compounds were identified by measuring autophagic vacuole formation in cultured human fibroblast. Upregulation of autophgic flux by screened compounds were further investigated by measuring p62 and LC3-II expressions. Electron microscopic observation was also performed for observing the morphologic changes in cells. Among the screened compounds, S8_049, and S9_067 showed significant stimulating activities in cultured human skin fibroblast. In order to investigate the potential anti-aging effects of the selected compounds, expression of collagen and MMPs were also measured in cultured fibroblasts. As results, increased expression of collagen I was observed in S8_049 treated cells. Full thickness 3D culture model experiments also confirmed the increased expression of collagens in dermal layer in S8_049 treated tissue. Microarray experiments showed the increased expression of several sphingolipids synthesis and degrading enzymes, which suggested that the changes of intracellular sphingolipids levels might be, at least in part, underlying mechanism of autophagy stimulation.

ID-GMG001의 숙취 개선 유효성 연구: 무작위, 이중맹검, 위약 대조군, 교차 인체적용시험

        김민철(Min Cheol Kim),박하영(Ha-Young Park),박종미(Jongmi Park),임현정(Hyunjung Lim),박주현(Ju Hyun Park),전걸순(GulSoon Chun),이동한(Dong Han Lee) 대한약학회 2020 약학회지 Vol.64 No.4

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover human study aimed to investigate the efficacy of ID-GMG001 for the alleviation of hangover in men between the ages of 20 and 50 years. The selected subjects were randomized to an ID-GMG001 group and a placebo group. Two overnight assessments were conducted at Kyunghee University Hospital exactly one week apart and at the same time of day. The subjects ingested placebo or ID-GMG001 and then consumed alcohol 30 minutes later to induce hangover. The efficacy of ID-GMG001 for alleviating hangover was determined based on serum acetaldehyde levels over time. After the experiment, the results of 21 subjects who met the assessment criteria (per-protocol set) were analyzed. Comparisons of area under the curve (AUC; p=0.032), dose at 4 and 6 hours after alcohol consumption (p=0.001 and p=0.008, respectively), showed that serum acetaldehyde concentrations were significantly lower in the ID-GMG001 group than in the placebo group. A safety assessment revealed no serious IDGMG001- related adverse events, and no significant changes in vital signs and laboratory parameters occurred that could have affected patient safety. In conclusion, we determined that the use of ID-GMG001 before alcohol consumption effectively alleviates hangover in adults by reducing serum acetaldehyde concentrations.
