<P>Conclusion: Our studies indicate that PUL ameliorates atopic dermatitis-like symptoms by suppressing the proinflammatory cytokines and immune stimuli in both in vitro and in vivo animal models. Therefore, these data suggest that PUL might be an effective natural resource for the treatment of AD.</P>
인코넬 718 결정립 크기와 초음파 속도, 감쇄, 비선형 파라메터에 대한 실험적 고찰

초음파를 이용한 비파괴적인 재료의 특성 평가는 파괴적인 평가 방법을 대체하는 것으로 주목을 받고 있다. 금속의 결정립 크기는 피로강도 등의 기계적 특성에 영향을 미치는 중요한 미세구조 특징이며. 결정립의 크기가 균질하지 않은 부품은 항공기용 가스터빈엔진과 같이 고가의 첨단장비를 손상시킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 선형 및 비선형 초음파 특성과 항공기용 가스터빈 엔진에 널리 사용되는 인코넬 718의 결정립 크기의 특성의 상관관계를 실험적으로 탐색한다. 먼저, 실험에 관련된 이론과 실험계획을 서술한다. 이어서, 열처리에 따른 인코넬 718 결정립 크기의 변화, 초음파 속도와 감쇄 측정결과, 비선형 파라메터 측정결과 순으로 실험결과를 설명한다. Nondestructive material evaluation using ultrasonics has received much of attention as an alternative to destructive methods. Grain size is an important microstructural features determining mechanical properties of metals including fatigue strength. A part with uneven grain size can cause severe damage to high-cost meachines like aircraft turbine engines. This study experimetally explores correlation of Inconel 718’s grain sze and linear and nonlinear ultrasonics features. First, it describes theories and experiment plans, followed by their results. The paper will discuss its meaning to nondestructive techniques to aircraft maintenance.

In this study, the survival capacity (acid and bile salt tolerance, and adhesion to gut epithelial cells) and probiotic properties (enzyme activity-inhibition and anti-inflammatory activities, inhibition of adipogenesis, and stress hormone level reduction) of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LRCC5314, isolated from kimchi (Korean traditional fermented cabbage), were investigated. LRCC5314 exhibited very stable survival at ph 2.0 and in 0.2% bile acid with 89.9% adhesion to Caco-2 intestinal epithelial cells after treatment for 2 h. LRCC5314 also inhibited the activities of α-amylase and α-glucosidase, which are involved in elevating postprandial blood glucose levels, by approximately 72.9% and 51.2%, respectively. Treatment of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells with the LRCC5314 lysate decreased the levels of the inflammatory factors nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, and interferon-γ by 88.5%, 49.3%, 97.2%, and 99.8%, respectively, relative to those of the cells treated with LPS alone. LRCC5314 also inhibited adipogenesis in differentiating preadipocytes (3T3-L1 cells), showing a 14.7% decrease in lipid droplet levels and a 74.0% decrease in triglyceride levels, as well as distinct reductions in the mRNA expression levels of adiponectin, FAS, PPAR/γ, C/EBPα, TNF-α, and IL-6. Moreover, LRCC5314 reduced the level of cortisol, a hormone with important effect on stress, by approximately 35.6% in H295R cells. L. plantarum LRCC5314 is identified as a new probiotic with excellent in vitro multifunctional properties. Subsequent in vivo studies may further demonstrate its potential as a functional food or pharmabiotic.

90종의 내생진균(endophytic fungi)은 염습지에 자생하고 있는 염생식물(halophyte)의 뿌리에서 분리하였다. 자생식물 샘플은 해홍나물, 갯질경, 칠면초, 갯잔디, 갈대가 염습지로부터 분리하였다. 그리고 분리된 내생진균들은 ITS1, 5.8S와 ITS2를 포함하는 ITS-rDNA 영역에 의해 분석하였다. 다양한 내생진균은 Capnodiales (4.44%), Cystofilobasidiales (1.11%), Dothideales (3.33%), Eurotiales (53.33%), Glomerellales (3.33%), Hypocreales (8.89%), Mucorales (1.11%), Pleosporales (15.56%), Sordariales (1.11%), Trichosphaeriales (1.11%), unidentified (6.67%) 등 10종류 목에 속하는 것이 확인되었다. 90종의 내생진균은 속(genus)단계에서 Acremonium속, Alternaria 속, Aspergillus 속, Aureobasidium 속, Cephalosporium 속, Chaetomium 속, Cladosporium 속, Colletotrichum 속, Cryptococcus 속, Didymella 속, Dothideomycete 속, Emericellopsis 속, Epicoccum 속, Eupenicillium 속, Fusarium 속, Gibberella 속, Gongronella 속, Macrophoma 속, Microsphaeropsis 속, Nigrospora 속, Paecilomyce 속, Paraconiothyrium 속, Penicillium 속, Phaeomyces 속, Phoma 속, Pleosporales 속, Purpureocillium 속, 그리고 Talaromyces 속으로 모두 28속이 확인되었다. 그리고 동정된 모든 내생진균은 Eurotiales목의 Aspergillus속과 Penicillium속이 가장 많이 분포하고 있는 것이 확인되었다. Native halophytes, such as Suaeda maritima, Limonium tetragonum, S. japonica, Zoysia sinica, and Phragmites australis were collected from the Muan salt marsh. Ninety endophytic fungi were isolated from the roots of the collected halophytes. Molecular insights inferred by internal transcribed spacer containing ITS1, 5.8s, and the ITS2 region showed that all the fungal strains belong to ten orders, i.e., Capnodiales (4.44%), Cystofilobasidiales (1.11%), Dothideales (3.33%), Eurotiales (53.33%), Glomerellales (3.33%), Hypocreales (8.89%), Mucorales (1.11%), Pleosporales (15.56%), Sordariales (1.11%), and Trichosphaeriales (1.11%). The rest (6.67%) of all fungal isolates were not identified. Ninety fungal strains were confirmed at the genus level, containing Acremonium, Alternaria, Aspergillus, Aureobasidium, Cephalosporium, Chaetomium, Cladosporium, Colletotrichum, Cryptococcus, Didymella, Dothideomycete, Emericellopsis, Epicoccum, Eupenicillium, Fusarium, Gibberella, Gongronella, Macrophoma, Microsphaeropsis, Nigrospora, Paecilomyces, Paraconiothyrium, Penicillium, Phaeomyces, Phoma, Pleosporales, Purpureocillium, and Talaromyces. Of all the endophytic fungi identified from the various halophytes, Aspergillus and Penicillium of Eurotiales had the highest abundance.
Roll-to-Roll Laser-Printed Graphene-Graphitic Carbon Electrodes for High-Performance Supercapacitors

<P>Carbon electrodes including graphene and thin graphite films have been utilized for various energy and sensor applications, where the patterning of electrodes is essentially included. Laser scribing in a DVD writer and inkjet printing were used to pattern the graphene-like materials, but the size and speed of fabrication has been limited for practical applications. In this work, we devise a simple strategy to use conventional laser-printer toner materials as precursors for graphitic carbon electrodes. The toner was laser-printed on metal foils, followed by thermal annealing in hydrogen environment, finally resulting in the patterned thin graphitic carbon or graphene electrodes for supercapacitors. The electrochemical cells made of the graphene-graphitic carbon electrodes show remarkably higher energy and power performance compared to conventional supercapacitors. Furthermore, considering the simplicity and scalability of roll-to-roll (R2R) electrode patterning processes, the proposed method would enable cheaper and larger-scale synthesis and patterning of graphene-graphitic carbon electrodes for various energy applications in the future.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
