이논문은 음악의 요소들과 음악외적인 의미들을 이해하기위해 쟈크 데리다의 문자에관한 철학적인 이론을 적용한다. 데리다는 음성언어와 문자언어의 전통적인 이분법적인 대립에 대해 재해석을 한다. 그는 그 이분법적인 대립의 상하구조, 즉 서구의 형이상학 철학 체계 전반에 대해 반대로 생각해보고, 더 나아가서는 현실에서 잘못 인식되고 있는 점들의 변혁을 꽤한다. 이러한 인식론적 변혁을 꾀하는 것을 해체주의라 한다. 이 연구에서는 세 가지의 다른 대립에 대해 살펴본다 - 이항대립, 유표성, 그리고 음양이론. 이는 해체주의의 단계별 과정, 즉 텍스트를 이항대립으로 생각해보고, 이를 전위 시키고, 결국 사고의 변혁을 가져오게 하는 그 과정을 잘 묘사한다. 서양의 사고는 이항대립의 형태에서 심한 상하구조를 가지고있다. 즉, 어떤하나의요소는그반대의것을완전히지배하는구조이다. 이항대립에서는 근본적인 것이라고 여겨지는 요소가 주목을 받는다. 반면에, 유표성 이론에서는 어떠한 특별한 속성의 존재가 주목 받는다. 그래서 유표성 이론은 이항대립의 전위적인 특성을 보인다. 더 나아가 이항 대립의 전위는 음양이론으로 더 넓게 생각되어질 수 있다. 자연의 이치에서 음이 여성적이며, 어두운성격이라면양은남성적이며 밝음을 상징한다. 서로보충적인이러한힘은가까이서 보면 반대인 듯 하나, 크게 보면 유기체적으로 하나를 이룬다. 이는 결국 서로 다른 요소들이 조화를 이루게 됨을 나타낸다. 그러므로 음양의 동양적 사고는 이항대립적인 서양의 형이상학적 사고를 해체시킨다. 이러한 세가지 다른 대립들을 기초하여 Charles Ives’s General William Booth Enters into Heaven의 형식, 주선울, 리듬, 클라이막스 면에서 분석하고 어떤 요소들이 전위되고, 인식론적인 변혁을 가져왔는 지를 연구한다. This paper engages Jacques Derrida’s philosophical theory of writing to interpret compositional musical elements and extra‐musical meaning. Derrida has rethought the traditional binary opposition of speech/writing. He inverts the binary and furthermore points out its misrepresentation of reality. This reinterpretation of the binary is called deconstruction. This study explores three different types of opposition - binary, markedness, and Yin‐ Yang (Um‐Yang), which nicely illustrate the deconstructive process in music of engaging the text, inversion, and deconstruction, respectively. Western thought created a violent hierarchy in the form of the binary opposition whereby one of the two terms dominates the other. The concept of the binary focuses exclusively on the supposition of the norm of the dominating element. Conversely, markedness refers to the specific type of asymmetric relation between two hierarchical elements. One term of an opposition is broader and labeled unmarked. This term is considered to be the normal or dominant one. The secondary (supposed to be the supplement of the binary) one is said to be marked and, therefore, has special meaning. All the attention now goes to a particular feature of this marked element, thus inverting the binary opposition. Thus, the inversion of the binary, that is markedness, expands to the deconstructive concept of Yin‐Yang, which refers to the two complementary creative forces in nature. Yin is feminine, passive, dark; Yang is masculine, active, light. These complementary forces are microscopically considered to be opposites, but macroscopically an organic whole. This view thus allows opposites to be in harmony. Therefore, the Eastern philosophical concept of Yin‐Yang in effect deconstructs the Western concept of binary opposition. I apply these three different oppositions to examine Charles Ives’s General William Booth Enters into Heaven. My analysis exposes Ives’s deconstructive compositional experiment: engaging a text, inverting it and finally deconstructing it.

The result of the interpretation of Isaiah 11:1-9 shows us “a shoot”as a symbolized resistance in the injustice contexts. “A shoot” is more powerful than the violence of the unjust. In addition, Asian resistance narratives are helpful references for deriving contextual meanings of the relationship between violence and resistance in the unjust society. Korean “The Sun-Moon” narrative is a beautiful discourse to announce the violence of the power and show the resistance of the powerless. The Taiwanese “The Sun-Moon Lake” legend encourages us to remember the removal of the violence of dragons for the earth community.I would like to weave the hermeneutical interpretation between “a shoot” narrative and “the sun-moon” narrative, which present the foundations of the natural world for the human and earth community. Even though violence in the unjust society prevails around the world where there are people, “a shoot” and “sun and moon” everywhere tell a hopeful message for us. In doing so, new form criticism will be used my methodology for the hermeneutical interpretation of thebiblical texts and Asian stories.

Sharing Food and Confirming Faith

성만찬은 개신교 전통에서 세례와 더불어 성례전에 속하는 중요한 예식이다. 바울에 의해서, 16세기 개신교 신학자들과 기독교 전통 교리를 통해서 성만찬은 지속적으로 증거되며 해석되었다. 그렇다면, 오늘을 사는 현대인들에게 성만찬은 어떤 의미인가? 미국 장로 교회의 규례서에 의하면 예수의 마지막 사역중의 하나인 성만찬은 예수와 제자들 간의 나눔의 표징이다. 오늘날, 기아와 가난은 나눔이 결핍되어 정당하게 분배하지 못해서 생긴다. 나눔의 성만찬은 이런 문제들을 위해 새로운 의미로 다가온다. 바울은 고린도전서 11:17-34에서 예수의 성찬 의미를 강조하면서 신학적인 파벌의식으로 생겨난 당파 간에 함께하지 못하는 고린도 교회를 비판하였다. 당시의 고린도 교인들은 예수 성만찬의 연속성을 간파하지 못했다. 성만찬은 예수의 일회 사건이 아니다. 오늘의 기독교인들은 2000년 전에 예수가 기념한 성만찬을 현실 속에서 이어가게 된다. 그 과정 중에 예수가 행한 나눔의 에너지를 전달받게 된다. 성만찬에 사용되는 빵과 잔은 예수의 에너지를 전달하는 매체이다. 이 매체가 전달될 때 기적이 일어난다. 한 소년의 음식을 나눠 먹고 싶은 마음과 오병이어의 전달로 기적은 시작되었다. 음식을 나누며 전달하는 과정 중에 기적을 경험한다. 음식의 나눔은 하늘을 나누는 것과 마찬가지이다. 누구도 하늘을 소유할 수 없다. 밥도 마찬가지이다. 이런 사상은 김지하의 “밥은 하늘이다”라는 시에 잘 나타나 있다. 예수는 마지막 만찬에서 빵과 잔을 축복하고 서로에게 나누었다. 오늘의 성만찬도 음식을 나누는 상징으로 해석할 때 믿음을 확인하는 장이 되어 예수를 기념하게 된다.

The Hsp90 family proteins Hsp90, Grp94, and TRAP1 are present in the cell cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, respectively; all play important roles in tumorigenesis by regulating protein homeostasis in response to stress. Thus, simultaneous inhibition of all Hsp90 paralogs is a reasonable strategy for cancer therapy. However, since the existing pan-Hsp90 inhibitor does not accumulate in mitochondria, the potential anticancer activity of pan-Hsp90 inhibition has not yet been fully examined in vivo. Analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas database revealed that all Hsp90 paralogs were upregulated in prostate cancer. Inactivation of all Hsp90 paralogs induced mitochondrial dysfunction, increased cytosolic calcium, and activated calcineurin. Active calcineurin blocked prosurvival heat shock responses upon Hsp90 inhibition by preventing nuclear translocation of HSF1. The purine scaffold derivative DN401 inhibited all Hsp90 paralogs simultaneously and showed stronger anticancer activity than other Hsp90 inhibitors. PanHsp90 inhibition increased cytotoxicity and suppressed mechanisms that protect cancer cells, suggesting that it is a feasible strategy for the development of potent anticancer drugs. The mitochondria-permeable drug DN401 is a newly identified in vivo pan-Hsp90 inhibitor with potent anticancer activity.

The Korean Peninsula-US Relations from the Perspective of Isaiah’s Peace Discourse

New geopolitical order in East Asia challenges the relations between the Korean Peninsula and the U.S.A. After testing the nuclear and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM), North Korea Chairman Kim Jong-un could meet U.S. President Donald Trump three times up until October 3, 2019 in Singapore, Vietnam, and at the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Meanwhile, South Korea President Moon Jae-in made three Inter-Korea Summits with Kim in 2018. President Trump even visited the Korean Demilitarized Zone on June 30, 2019, and met Kim along with South Korea President Moon Jae-In. One can recognize the diplomatic thaw between the U.S. and North Korea. Christians should seriously interpret the politics and diplomatic new order in the Korean Peninsula. This paper analyzes the dynamic characteristics around the Korean Peninsula regarding denuclearization and deimperialization. I suggest that Isaiah’s historical situation under the empires was not different from the diplomatic dynamics of the Korean Peninsula. This study urges Christians’ transformation in current geopolitical phenomena in East-Asia from the perspective of Isaiah’s peace discourse. I will bring up the issues of denuclearization for world peace and imperialist metanarrative in the world. This paper will interpret Isaiah’s ultimate peace, justice, independent discourse by reading Isaiah 2, 5- 12, and 36-39. In addition, it invites Christian’s transformation throughout Isaiah’s prophecy.

The Tekoite Wise Woman and Her Prophecy

In the Wisdom Literature of the Hebrew Bible, wisdom is personalized as a woman. According to Claudia Camp, one can directly assume that “the picture of a woman calling out in the public places of the city” in the book of Proverbs 1.20, this is a female metaphor for wisdom. Why does the author of the Wisdom Literature want to give us a sense of the femaleness of wisdom? This metaphor is related to women’s specialized gifts and is depicted by the wise woman who has been known “for astute counselor, persuasiveness, and tact.”We have images of female wisdom not only in the Wisdom Literature but also in the monarchic stories. They are the unnamed wise women in Tekoa (2 Sam 14) and in Abel (2 Sam 20). These two women appear with the stories of Joab. The wise woman in Abel is clearly declared “wise” in the text so she definitely brings the genuine character of wisdom. However, the scholars argue about whether or not the woman in Tekoa represents genuine wisdom.
