Hwang, Jinwoong,Kim, Kyoo,Ryu, Hyejin,Kim, Jingul,Lee, Ji-Eun,Kim, Sooran,Kang, Minhee,Park, Byeong-Gyu,Lanzara, Alessandra,Chung, Jinwook,Mo, Sung-Kwan,Denlinger, Jonathan,Min, Byung Il,Hwang, Choong American Chemical Society 2018 NANO LETTERS Vol.18 No.6
<P>The interaction between a magnetic impurity, such as cerium (Ce) atom, and surrounding electrons has been one of the core problems in understanding many-body interaction in solid and its relation to magnetism. Kondo effect, the formation of a new resonant ground state with quenched magnetic moment, provides a general framework to describe many-body interaction in the presence of magnetic impurity. In this Letter, a combined study of angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) and dynamic mean-field theory (DMFT) on Ce-intercalated graphene shows that Ce-induced localized states near Fermi energy, <I>E</I>F, hybridized with the graphene π-band, exhibit gradual increase in spectral weight upon decreasing temperature. The observed temperature dependence follows the expectations from the Kondo picture in the weak coupling limit. Our results provide a novel insight how Kondo physics emerges in the sea of two-dimensional Dirac electrons.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Simple method for high-performance stretchable composite conductors with entrapped air bubbles
Hwang, Hyejin,Kim, Dae-Gon,Jang, Nam-Su,Kong, Jeong-Ho,Kim, Jong-Man Springer US 2016 NANOSCALE RESEARCH LETTERS Vol.11 No.1
<P>We integrate air bubbles into conductive elastic composite-based stretchable conductors to make them mechanically less stiff and electrically more robust against physical deformations. A surfactant facilitates both the formation and maintenance of air bubbles inside the elastic composites, leading to a simple fabrication of bubble-entrapped stretchable conductors. Based on the unique bubble-entrapped architecture, the elastic properties are greatly enhanced and the resistance change in response to tensile strains can clearly be controlled. The bubble-entrapped conductor achieves ~80 % elongation at ~3.4 times lower stress and ~44.8 % smaller change in the electrical resistance at 80 % tensile strain, compared to bare conductor without air bubbles.</P>

Identifying material parameters that affect magnetic properties of ferromagnets is key to optimize materials better suited for spintronics applications. Here, we propose an effective hole doping method to modulate the magnetic anisotropy of a van der Waals ferromagnet, and explore the physical origin of this effect. Experimental measurements of the doping and thickness dependent magnetic properties of thin Fe3-xGeTe2 show a significant suppression of the magnetic anisotropy with hole doping. From the measured and calculated doping dependent electronic structure, we find that the energy gain by the spin-orbit induced band splitting is reduced by the chemical potential shift associated with hole doping, which in turn reduce the magnetic anisotropy energy. The identified mechanism provides an understanding of the doping induced modulation of magnetic properties in Fe3GeTe2 thin films.

<P>Flexible tactile sensors have been intensively studied for healthcare and electronic skin devices. Currently, a sensing material, electrode, and substrate are manufactured as one set by depositing the sensing material on the electrode. For this reason, when another electrode or substrate is used in the sensor or when different sensor characteristics are required, a new sensing material must be developed and the fabrication conditions should be changed. This study proposes a novel method of manufacturing a pressure sensing material like a cartridge film. The cartridge film is made by filling the holes of a stencil film (one MP in each hole) with conductive microparticles (MPs). Using the cartridge film, the sensing material can be cut-and-pasted on electrodes and transferred to other electrodes for reuse. This study analyzes the electrical responses of the sensors made of the cartridge film on the basis of the Hertzian contact theory, and also correlates the sensing performance of the sensors with the conductivity of the MPs and the degree of protrusion of the MPs from the stencil surface.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Endometriosis is one of the most common diseases in reproductive ages, and it affects patients' quality of life and fertility. However, few Korean guidelines are available for the evaluation and management of endometriosis. Korean Society of Endometriosis reviewed various literatures and trials, and to provide seventy-one evidence-based recommendations. This review presents guidelines for the diagnosis and management of endometriosis with emphasis on: it's role in infertility, treatment of recurrence, , asymptomatic women, endometriosis in adolescents and menopausal women, and possible association of endometriosis with cancer.

Objective: Demonstrate a new instrument, technique or procedure Target: Adanced practicioners Methods: 35 year old married women came for heavy menstrual bleeding and subfertility; she failed IVF3 times before. In MRI, multiple myomas including Figo stage type 2 submucosal myoma were noted. For conserving fertility, we decided to robot assisted laparoscopic myomectomy. Real-time hystero-sonography was used to locate the embedded myoma and the exact incision site was determined. The serosa and myometrial layer was cut using the robotic monopolar scissors. To avoid thermal damage to uterus, vasopressin mixed fluid was used instead of coagulation. As the myoma is being removed, endometrial cavity can be visualize. At this point filling up the cavity with carmin fluid can help visualize endometrial cavity well. Furthermore, filling up the cavity with fluid can help detect any endometrial injury. And then, enucleation of myoma is possible. After the myoma is completely distracted, suturing is done with the PDS. Because we can locate the endometrial cavity, layer by layer suturing is possible. Results: Total 20 myomas were removed, and no endometrium injury was detected. Patient was recovered and discharged 2 days after operation. After 3 month, pelvic sonography was done, and distorsion of endometrial cavity was recovered and heavy menstrual bleeding disappeared. Conclusion: Myoma is one of the common gynecology disease. Although most myomas are benign, some kind of submucosal myomas can cause heavy menstrual bleeding and subfertility. In general, hysteroscopic resection is used for myomectomy but it may injure normal endometrium and cause adhesion. Robot asissted laparoscpic myomectomy can be a good option for submucosal myomectomy for the patient who want to conserve fertility.

Objective: Uterine leiomyoma is one of the common gynecologic diseases in reproductive women. Submucosal leiomyoma is related to subfertility, and myomectomy may increase pregnancy outcome. However previous studies about myomectomy surgical options did not consider the location of leiomyoma, especially relation to endometrial cavity. The objective of this study is to compare robot assisted laparoscopic myomectomy to open myomectomy for submucosal leiomyoma with myometrial components, and effect of operation to surgical outcome and pregnancy outcome. Methods: We have conducted a retrospective cohort study for 383 patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy and 226 patients who have got open myomectomy by a single operator from 1st January 2009 to 28th February 2017. Operative variables and pregnancy outcomes were compared. Results: Patients who got open surgery tends to have many, larger diameter, and heavier leiomyoma. Over 38% open myomectomy patients got transfusion during admission, whereas only 13.4% of robot myomectomy patients received. (OR, 4.08; 95% CI 1.98-8.38; p<.001) Patients who got robot surgery stay in hospital shortly postoperatively; 3.5 days in open myomectomy and 2.4 days in robot myomectomy. (95% CI 0.13-0.86; p=.007) Endometrium was injured 40.3% of patients of laparotomic operation, and 36.1% of robot myomectomy cases made endometrium opening during operation. (OR 1.19; 95% CI 0.64-2.20; p = .57) 11(9.24%) patients successfully delivered babies and 4(4.20%) women are in pregnancy after robot myomectomy, and 4(5.97%) patients delivered in open myomectomy cases. Conclusion: Robot assisted laparoscopic myomectomy has both advantage of minimal invasive surgery and exquisite manipulation of laparotomy. Robot assisted laparoscopic myomectomy for submucosal leiomyoma especially type 2, and 2-5 could be a feasible option for women who wish conserve fertility.

This study identified cultural literacy as the ability to understand and participate in culture and to accept and produce culture. For the education of such cultural literacy, through a case study of creatively transforming the transmitted culture, I tried to figure out how and what kinds of cultural literacy were exhibited and to compose them as a step-by-step educational contents. In an era where we have to make, rather than just analyze and appreciate Chunhyangga, the modem < Sukdaemoeri > can be a great educational example. This is because the process of trying modem adaptations based on a sufficient understanding and affection for the tradition serves as an example to guide the activities of learners. Learners can decipher, interpret, and appreciate this work according to the creation process, and express their emotions and interpretations in various cultural styles.
