Diabetic wound healing, including diabetic foot ulcer (DFU), is a serious complication of diabetes. Considering the complexity of DFU development, the identification of a factor that mediates multiple pathogeneses is important for treatment. In this study, we found that CXXC-type zinc finger protein 5 (CXXC5), a negative regulator of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, was overexpressed with suppression of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and its target genes involved in wound healing and angiogenesis in the wound tissues of DFU patients and diabetes-induced model mice. KY19334, a small molecule that activates the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by inhibiting the CXXC5-Dvl interaction, accelerated wound healing in diabetic mice. The enhancement of diabetic wound healing could be achieved by restoring the suppressed Wnt/β-catenin signaling and subsequently inducing its target genes. Moreover, KY19334 induced angiogenesis in hindlimb ischemia model mice. Overall, these findings revealed that restorative activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling by inhibiting the function of cytosolic CXXC5 could be a therapeutic approach for treating DFUs.
A Single-ring-oscillator based True-random-number-generator with 3-edges Collapse

This paper presents an all-digital ring oscillator (RO) based true random number generator (TRNG) that harvests entropy as a jitter. The proposed TRNG constructs upon the collapsing RO-based structure and exhibits high immunity against external power attacks. This approach senses the 3-edge collapse point using a single RO without a reference RO, reducing both area and energy consumption. A prototype chip fabricated using 65 nm technology operates between 1.08 V and 1.44 V, occupying an area of 702 m2. The randomness of the TRNG passed the NIST randomness test up to 2 LSB when the external power attack was below 300 mVPP. This work demonstrates a throughput of 7.1 Mbits/s at 1.2 V and provides an efficiency of 40.93 Mbit/mJ at 1.08 V.

A methodology of design performance estimation for the supersonic impulse turbine was investigated. Relations of similarity condition and test nozzle area ratio were derived. Comparison of efficiencies between the turbines with real nozzle and test nozzle are made numerically and experimentally. The CFD results and test result confirmed that the turbine with test nozzle was able to predict real turbine performance. In addition, design performance of the supersonic impulse turbine also could be estimated using real nozzle in air-medium test. In this case, design efficiency was found at the pressure-ratio and velocity-ratio of similarity condition of test nozzle.
19세기 콜롬비아 보고타의 수도 위상에 대한 도전과 대응

본 연구의 목적은 독립 이후 보고타의 수도 위상에 대한 논쟁과 대립이 19세기 각기 다른 정치 엘리트 그룹 간의 경쟁 구조와 어떤 상관성을 가지고 있는지에 관해 분석하는 것이다. 콜롬비아의 경우, 독립 이후 지역을 기반으로 각기 다른 엘리트 그룹의 정치·경제적 이해관계가 형성되는 독특한 정치 구조를 구축하였다. 이러한 엘리트 그룹 간의 정치 경쟁 구조는 19세기 동안 아홉 차례의 무력 갈등을 발생시켰고, 이 과정에서 수도 보고타의 위상에 대한 논쟁을 유발하였다. 보고타를 중심으로 한 전통적인 엘리트 세력이 보고타의 수도 위상을 유지하게 되면서 이를 공고히 하기 위한 전략으로 철도 건설 프로젝트를 통해 근대화 발전을 시도했다. 본 연구는 수도 이전을 둘러싼 정치적 경쟁 구조 논의를 보고타의 사례로 분석했다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. The purpose of this study is to analyse how the structure of political competition between different political elite groups correlates with the debates and issues over Bogotá's capital status in the nineteenth century. Colombia has developed a unique political structure, with different political and economic interests of elite groups being developed based on regions. This structure of political competition between elite groups led to nine armed conflicts during the 19th century. In this process, this region-based political rivalry triggered debates over the status of the capital city of Bogotá. After all, the traditional elite group, centered in Bogotá, succeeded in maintaining the Bogota’s capital status. In order to consolidate this position, this traditional elite group attempted to modernise the city through railroad construction projects. This study is significant in that it analyses the case of Bogotá when discussing the correlation between the structure of political rivalry and capital city’s status.

Performance tests of a 75-tonf liquid rocket engine turbopump were conducted. The performance of sub-components - two pumps and a turbine - and their power matching were measured and examined firstly near the design speed under the LN2 and kerosene environment. In the real propellant - LOX and kerosene - environment tests, design and off-design performance of turbopump were fully verified in regime of the rocket engine operation. During the off-design performance tests, turbopump running time was set longer than the engine operating time to verify the pump operability and set the pump inlet pressure close to design NPSHr to investigate pump suction capability in parallel. It has been found that developed-turbopump satisfied all of the engine required performances.
복개하천 주차장의 피복 및 식재 변화를 통한 열환경 및 열쾌적성 개선 방안 - 인천광역시 남동구 만수복개천 공영주차장을 중심으로

본 연구는 사업비용, 대체부지 및 도로의 확보, 자연수원 확보 등의 문제로 복원되지 못한 채남아있는 다수 복개하천의 개선방안을 마련하기 위하여 복개천 주차장의 피복과 식재 계획에 따른 열환경 및 열쾌적성 수준을 평가하였다. 인천광역시에 위치한 만수복개천 공영주차장을 대상으로 피복의 종류와 식재 배치의 유·무에 따른 6가지 계획안을 구상하고 ENVI-met을 이용하여 도시 열환경 및 열쾌적성의 변화를 비교·분석하였다. 연구 결과 피복의 종류를 아스팔트로 구성하고 수목의 식재를 한 계획안이 열쾌적성 향상에 가장 효과적인 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 점토바닥벽돌이 온도 저감에는 효과적이었으나, 열쾌적성 향상에는 효과적이지 못한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이는 온도 및 풍속에 의존하는 결과와 열쾌적성 지표에 의한 평가 결과가 다를 수 있다는 것을 나타내며 도시 열환경 개선을 위한 계획기법을 마련하고자 할 때 열쾌적성에 대한 고려도 함께 이루어져야 한다는 점을 시사한다. 본 연구는 복개하천의 복원을 대체할 새로운 대안적 개선 기법을 제시했으며, 인공 피복으로 구성된 대표적인 공간인 공영주차장을 중심으로 연구가 미흡한 도시 공간에 대한 분석을 진행하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. This study assessed the thermal environment and comfort according to change in paving and planting conditions of a covered parking lot to discuss improvement of many of culverted streams. Six alternative plans with differing paving and planting conditions for Mansu public parking lot located in Incheon were analyzed by using ENVI-met. Results show that the plan with asphalt and trees was the most effective in improving thermal comfort. Brick road was effective in reducing temperature but not in improving thermal comfort. These indicates that the results depending on the temperature and wind speed may differ from the results by the thermal comfort index, and when planning a method for improving the urban thermal environment, It suggests that consideration for thermal comfort should be given. The significance of this study is found in presenting a new alternative method for culverted streams, and conducted an analysis of urban spaces that were poorly studied centering on parking lot, which is a typical space composed of artificial paving.
Multi RF 통신을 이용한 안전한 NFC 신용카드 결제 프로토콜 설계

NFC는 135.56MHz 주파수 대역의 비접촉 근거리 무선통신 기술로서 다양한 모드에서의 자료교환, 스마트포스터, 결제 등 다양한 서비스를 지원한다. 특히 NFC 기술의 결제 환경은 이전의 RFID 환경이 가지는 보안 위협이 그대로 존재한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 NFC 결제 환경에 대한 보안 기법으로 두 가지 방식의 RF통신을 함께 이용하고 보안성을 강화한 프로토콜을 제안한다.

모바일 장치의 성능 향상과 네트워크 인프라의 확산 그리고 개방형 어플리케이션의 등장으로 스마트폰이 빠르게 보급되고 있다. 이러한 모바일 환경의 변화는 다양한 선 작용과 동시에 보안 문제를 야기하고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위한 다양한 방법 중 하나로 가상화를 이용한 보안 기술이 주목받고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 가상화를 이용한 모바일 플랫폼 보안성 향상 기술을 제안한다. 제안하는 Secure execution 기술과 프로세스 은닉 기술을 통하여 가상 머신 보호 및 프로세스 보호가 가능함으로써 보다 더 안전한 모바일 환경을 제공한다. Smartphone devices are widely used because of recent improvements in hardware device, network infrastructure, and emergences in open mobile platforms. These changes provide various advantages and cause security problems. One of the solutions to prevent these problems is that applying of the virtualization technology to mobile environment has attracted attention. In this paper, we proposed the vinualization technology which is based on security-enhanced mobile platform scheme, for secure mobile environment based on the secure execution and process concealing technology.

Wnt/β-catenin signaling activator restores hair regeneration suppressed by diabetes mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most prevalent diseases in modern society. Many complicationssuch as hepatic cirrhosis, neuropathy, cardiac infarction, and so on are associated with diabetes. Although a relationship between diabetes and hair loss has been recently reported, the treatment of diabetic hair loss by Wnt/β-catenin activators has not been achieved yet. In this study, we found that the depilation-induced anagen phase was delayed in both db/db mice and high-fat diet (HFD) and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mice. In diabetic mice, both hair regrowth and wound-induced hair follicle neogenesis (WIHN) were reduced because of suppression of Wnt/β- catenin signaling and decreased proliferation of hair follicle cells. We identified that KY19382, a small molecule that activates Wnt/β-catenin signaling, restored the capabilities of regrowth and WIHN in diabetic mice. The Wnt/β-catenin signaling activator also increased the length of the human hair follicle which was decreased under high glucose culture conditions. Overall, the diabetic condition reduced both hair regrowth and regeneration with suppression of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Consequently, the usage of Wnt/β-catenin signaling activators could be a potential strategy to treat diabetes-induced alopecia patients. [BMB Reports 2022; 55(11): 559-564]
