Surgical correction of cleft lip lower-lip deformity: a report of three cases

Cleft lip lower-lip deformity is a secondary deformity in patients who underwent primary cheiloplasty of the upper lip, characterized by an enlarged and anteriorly rotated lower lip. In these cases, soft-tissue imbalances remain even after skeletal correction with orthognathic surgery, and additional soft tissue treatment is required for lip harmony and esthetic facial balance in CLP (cleft lip palate) patients. This study describes three cases of trans-verse myomucosal excision of the lower lip for correction of cleft lip lower-lip deformity to restore facial esthetic balance. Each patient underwent orthognathic surgery, rhinoplasty, or upper lip revision cheiloplasty according to condition. Postoperatively, volume of the lower lip decreased and lip harmony was improved in all three patients. The surgeon should fully understand the anatomical structure around the lips and be able to evaluate over-all harmony of the soft tissue. When a lower lip deformity is present, careful surgical planning and execution are important for each patient.
Measures to Reduce the Heat Island Phenomenon of Summer Road Pavement and Structures

▪ About Heat island? In the city, there are many concrete and asphalt structures easily heated by solar heat. Also, while the fuel of factories, homes and cars in the city is burned, it generates heat at the same time. Due to these, there is the phenomenon called the heat island effect that the temperature of the city is 2 to 5 ℃ as high as of the suburb. As for widely known isolation-heat technology, there are reflection-paint coating(structure and pavement), heat-reduction pavement(water retention). Applying reflection paint to a building and pavement can reduce the surface temperature of the building up to 30 ℃, and 15 ℃ over the pavement. In summer, heat-reduction pavement(water retention) has the effect of reducing the pavement surface temperature to 10~20 ℃ ▪ Solution We can consider ways about applying heat-reduction pavement(water retention) to main section of expressway, spraying water using dirt wagon and applying reflection paint to office and tollgate.

The government is encouraging the notice of obligatory reclaimed asphalt as a result of the economic and social positioning of green growth to reduce the amount of waste resources and to solve natural resource problems by recycling continuously generated waste resources. However, it is necessary to develop application guideline for each application to apply reclaimed asphalt to the site because quality control of the reclaimed asphalt is difficult and the specifications are ambiguous as well. Therefore, in this study, the mix design, quality test, performance test, and finite element analysis about reclaimed Asphalt Pavement were conducted to develop application guideline for reclaimed hot asphalt. The mix design was carried out for the comparative general hot mix asphalt mixture, the reclaimed hot mix asphalt mixture using the additive, and the reclaimed hot mix asphalt mixture without the additive. Indirect tensile strength and tensile strength ratio tests were used to characterize the reclaimed hot mix asphalt mixture. Using the results of dynamic modulus test and FWD test for KPRP analysis and finite element analysis, the performance life was evaluated for general pavement and pavement using recycled aggregate. Finally, the life cycle cost analysis was used to compare and analyze the economics of reclaimed asphalt concrete pavement.
