        THE BEHAVIOR OF INTERFACE COATINGS IN SOME METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES

        The behavior of SiC coating in carbon fiber reinforced aluminum, metal coatings, Ni, Fe in carbon fiber reinforced copper and alumina coated $K_2O{\cdot}6TiO_2$ whisker reinforced aluminum composites were investigated, respectively, by modern devices, like TEM, SEM etc. with the goal of controlling the interfacial interaction and wettability of reinforcement, like carbon fibers, $K_2O{\cdot}6TiO_2$ whiskers with matrices. SiC coating produced by a polycarbosilane solution process improved effectively the strength because it successfully resisted the oxidation of carbon fibers themselves and the harmful reaction between carbon fibers and molten aluminum during fabrication process and heating process of the composites. The metal coating, Fe and Ni by electrical plating, strengthened the bonding of carbon fibers with copper, by changing the bonding state of the interface from mechanical one to partly chemical one. Therefore the strengths of composites were improved obviously. The aluminal coating on $K_2O{\cdot}6TiO_2$ alos controlled the diffusion of K element from whiskers into aluminum matrix and reaction with aluminum and led the optimaization of interfacial bonding between the whiskers and aluminum, so that the properties of the composites reached a higher level.

      • Analysis of Corrosion-induced Expansive Stress and Internal Cracking of Concrete under Considering Cover Thickness

        After considering the actual dimension of reinforced concrete structure, the thickness and geometrical boundary condition of concrete cover, the model of corrosion-induced expansion can be simplified as a plane model of semi-infinite body. Through theoretical analysis, formulas are got to calculate corrosion-induced expansive stress of concrete cover. The results shows that: the corrosion-induced crack originated on the interface between concrete and the corrosion layer, if initial cracking is not in vertical direction to the surface of concrete cover, cracks along the rebar induced by the uplift and horizontal tension stress on the surface of the concrete cover may occur from its outer to inner, it also presents that the anti-rust ability of reinforced concrete structures could be improved by increasing the thickness of concrete cover, raising the grade of concrete, and increasing the diameter of rebar. Compared with the existing literatures, the precision of the theoretical solutions is verified.

        Investigation on the mechanism of ring formation in the process of NaCl recovery by pyrolysis of chemical waste salt using rotary kiln

        Chemical waste salt is a hazardous waste generated during chemical production, and it is crucial to complete the recycling of the waste salt in a practical way. In the case of waste salt recycling by rotary kiln pyrolysis carbonization, ringing affects the pyrolysis efficiency and process running, thus a study on waste salt ringing was conducted. The results showed that the particle size is the key to the ring formation in rotary kiln, and pyrolysis temperature, pyrolysis time and temperature distribution in the rotary kiln also affect the material discharge rate during pyrolysis of waste salt in the rotary kiln. Thermogravimetric analysis and SEM images revealed that the volatilization of organic matter in the material due to pyrolysis caused a decrease in the abrasion resistance of the waste salt particle, which was the factor behind the ringing during pyrolysis in the rotary kiln. This study may provide a reference for the implementation of similar waste salt pyrolysis carbonization processes.

        백제 서예의 대외 교섭

        고구려ㆍ백제ㆍ신라 삼국시대는 한국 서예의 시작점이다. 그 중에서 백제가 중국과 교류하는 과정에서, 전면적인 한문화(漢文化) 학습을 거쳤는데, 문학과 예술의 수준이 세 나라 중에서 가장 뛰어났다. 지리적 원인으로, 백제는 주로 동진ㆍ남조의 서풍을 받아들이고 동시에 백제의 심미적 성향을 융화시켜 점차 연미(妍美)하고 세련되면서도 고박하고 자연스러운 서풍을 형성하였다. 수나라ㆍ당나라는 남조ㆍ북조의 서풍을 융합하였고 이후 백제는 남조의 유창한 아름다움[流美]과 북조의 강경한 풍격[剛勁]을 받아들였으며, 이를 기반으로 한층 더 격조 있는 자신의 서예를 구현하게 되었다. 백제가 멸망한 이후에도, 백제왕실묘지명 서체에는 여전히 우체(虞體)ㆍ저체(褚體) 등 남조서풍을 갖춘 서체를 선호한 것이 명백히 드러난다. 백제는 중국 문화를 흡수하여 배우는 동시에 선진 문명을 일본에 전파했으며, 일본 유교ㆍ불교ㆍ서예의 형성에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 이러한 이유로 백제 서예의 대외 교섭에 관한 연구는 동아시아 삼국 서예의 대외 교류에 관한 일환으로 여겨지며, 또한 한국서예 연구에 토대를 쌓는 작업이라 여길 수 있다. 이를 바탕으로 삼아 학계에 도움이 된다면 보람이 될 것이다. The Three Kingdoms Period of Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla is the starting point of Korean calligraphy. Among them, Baekje went through a full-scale study of Chinese culture during its exchange with China, with the highest level of literature and art among the three countries. Due to geographical reasons, Baekje mainly learned the western style of Dongjin(東晉) and Namjo(南朝), and at the same time assimilated Baekje s aesthetic tendencies, and gradually smooth, sophisticated yet noble and natural western style. The Sui(隋) and Tang(唐) dynasties combined the western customs of the Southern and Northern Dynasties(南北朝), and adopted the fluent beauty of the Southern Dynasties of Baekje and the strong style of the Northern Dynasties, and based on this, they were able to realize their more refined calligraphy. Even after the fall of Baekje, it is evident that the calligraphic style of the Royal Tomb of the Baekje Kingdom was still preferred by the style of the Southern Western style, such as the Yu Shinan style and Chu Sunliang(褚遂良) style. Baekje absorbed and learned Chinese culture and spread advanced civilizations to Japan. It greatly influenced the formation of Japanese Confucianism, Buddhism, and calligraphy. For this reason, the study of external negotiation of Baekje calligraphy is considered to be part of the foreign exchange of East Asian calligraphy, and is also a work to lay the foundation for the study of Korean calligraphy. Based on this, it would be worthwhile to help the academic community.

        The purpose of the study was conducted by dividing literature review and survey research to compare and analyze user behavior in the rest area in the underground space. Using Jan Gehl’s behavior classification method, various behaviors of underground space users were classified into three types, and spatial factors and user usage behaviors at Deokcheon Station in Busan were investigated. The results of the study are as follows. Area A is located in a corner, so spatial territoriality can be formed. There are natural elements such as water and green spaces, which induce a lot of people to sit down and relax. Area B is adjacent to the underground shopping mall, so there are many humans and space mobility is good, so it is necessary to manage the route and secure the width of the space.

        Synthesis and anticonvulsant activity evaluation of 8-alkoxy-5-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)quinoline derivatives

        Two series of 8-alkoxy-5-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)quinolines and 8-alkoxy-5-(2H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one-4-yl)quinolineswere synthesized.The anticonvulsant activity ofthese compounds was evaluated with maximal electroshockseizure test and rotarod test. Among the synthesized compounds,8-octoxy-5-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)quinoline (4g)was the most active compound with ED50 of 8.80 mg/kg,TD50 of 176.03 mg/kg and protective index of 20.0. Itsneurotoxicity was lower than all other synthesized compoundsand also markedly lower than that of the referencedrug carbamazepine. In addition, the potency of compound 4gagainst seizures induced by pentylenetetrazole, 3-mercaptopropionicacid, and bicuculline suggested its broad spectrumactivity, and the mechanisms of action including inhibition ofvoltage-gated ion channels and modulation of GABAergicactivity might involve in its anticonvulsant activity.

        Interaction and micellar behavior of ternary mixture of amphoteric amino sulfonate surfactant with traditional anionic and nonionic surfactants: Effect of hydrophilicity

        The micellization and the molecular interaction behaviors for two ternary mixtures constituted by anamphoteric sodium 3-(n-dodecyl ethylenediamino)-2-hydroxypropyl sulfonate (C12AS), an anionicsodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS) and a nonionic octylphenol polyoxyethylated ether with thenumber (n) of oxyethylene glycol ethers OP-n (n = 10 or 7) in aqueous solution were investigated usingthe tensiometry and the effect of hydrophilicity on them was also discussed. In the framework of pseudophaseseparation model and based on the regular solution theory, the related micellization parametersincluding the mixed critical micelle concentration (cmc) values in the ideal and real cases, the activitycoefficients and the compositions in mixed micelle, etc. and thermodynamic parameters were estimatedby the Clint’s model and the Rubingh’ model. The mixed cmc value is dependent on the composition inaqueous solution and influenced by the hydrophilicity of nonionic surfactant. With increasing the nonionicin ternary mixture, the mixed cmc value is initially decreased and then slightly rise. An increasingin the hydrophilicity of nonionic will make the minimum value of mixed cmc be increased from1.299 mM to 1.705 mM. The resulting phenomena can be explained reasonably by the electrostatic effect,the steric hindrance, the hydrogen bonding, etc. Thermodynamic data indicate that the contribution ofentropy or enthalpy plays a vital role on the spontaneous process of micellization and the share ofentropy or enthalpy in free energy change is dependent largely on the amount of nonionic surfactantand the hydrophilicity. In ternary mixtures of C12AS/SDBS/OP-10, an increase in an amount of OP-10 willinduce the change from the enthalpy-driven micellization process to the entropically favorable process. Once an abundant amount of OP-7 is added, while, the enthalpy will make a main contribution on themicellization process, which can be described by the drop in the share of entropy at the composition(0.6970/0.0000/0.3030) of ternary mixture from 0.6478 to 0.4901. These findings will help with understandingthe molecular interaction behavior for the ternary surfactant mixture and the effect of the additionof nonionic surfactant and its hydrophilicity.

        <P>Nanocomposites reinforced with hybrid fillers of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon black (CB) are developed, aiming at enhancing the electrical conductivity of composites with balanced mechanical properties while lowering the cost of the final product. Epoxy-based nanocomposites were prepared with varying combinations of CNTs and CB as conducting fillers, and their electrical and mechanical properties were evaluated. It was shown that the addition of CNTs in CB composites enhanced the electrical conductivity of composites: a low percolation threshold was achieved with 0.2 wt % CNTs and 0.2 wt % CB particles. The CB particles also enhanced the ductility and fracture toughness of nanocomposites, confirming the synergistic effect of CB as a multifunctional filler. The novelty of this work lies in the synergy arising from the combination of two conducting fillers with unique geometric shapes and aspect ratios as well as different dispersion characteristics, which have not been specifically considered previously.</P>

        <P>Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an increasingly utilized imaging modality for the diagnosis and treatment planning of the patients with craniomaxillofacial (CMF) deformities. Accurate segmentation of CBCT image is an essential step to generate three-dimensional (3D) models for the diagnosis and treatment planning of the patients with CMF deformities. However, due to the poor image quality, including very low signal-to-noise ratio and the widespread image artifacts such as noise, beam hardening, and inhomogeneity, it is challenging to segment the CBCT images. In this paper, the authors present a new automatic segmentation method to address these problems.</P>
