Two novel coordination compounds [Cu2(pypya)3(H2O)2]·Cl·(H2O)5 (1) and {[Cd(pypya)(ta)1/2]·H2O}n (2) (Hpypya=2-(3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)acetic acid, H2ta=terephthalic acid) were synthesized and characterized by single X-ray diffraction. Structure determination reveals that complex 1 and complex 2 crystallize in the triclinic system, with the P-1 space group. The asymmetric unit of 1 contains two Cu(II) ions, and their coordination modes are different. These units of complex 1 are linked together via hydrogen bonds and π-π interactions, and the 3D structure of complex 1 was formed. Complex 2, a mononuclear Cd(II) coordination compound, has a 2D structure which was constructed via coordination bonds. TGA and fluorescence spectra analysis of complex 1 and complex 2 have also been studied. In addition, the geometry parameters of complex 1 have been optimized with the B3LYP method of density functional theory (DFT) to explain its coordination behavior. The electronic properties of the complex 1 and ligand Hpypya have been investigated based on the nature bond orbital (NBO) analysis at the B3LYP level of theory. The result verifies that the synergistic effect have occurred in the compound.
Preparation and High Degradation Activity of Supported Nano-Bi2WO6-TiO2/Nickel Foam Photocatalyst
Qin Tong,Ya-Mei Dong,Xiao-Jia Wang,Peng Yan,Dan-Nong He 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2015 NANO Vol.10 No.6
The supported nano-Bi2WO6–TiO2/nickel foam photocatalyst was synthesized via spraying method with silica sol as a binder. The as-prepared photocatalyst with large surface and thermal stability exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance for degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) solution in sunlight irradiation. The results showed that the RhB solution could be degraded to 71.6% within 60 min, exhibiting that improved photocatalytic activity increased by 77.6%, compared with that of pure Bi2WO6–TiO2 nanoparticles. Its high photocatalytic activity was due to the presence of nickel foam in the catalytic process, making the Bi2WO6–TiO2 highly dispersed and increasing the contact area of the photocatalysts with the organic pollutants. At the same time, a possible photocatalytic mechanism for the enhanced photocatalytic performance was investigated.
Grain Boundary-Mediated Reduction of Radiation Defects in Different W-Based Alloys
Xiao‑Tong Li,Xiao‑Zhi Tang,Ya‑Fang Guo 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.9
Grain boundaries (GBs) are believed as potent defect sinks that contribute to the radiation damage reduction of materials. The defect-GB interaction has been extensively studied in pure metals, but only a few works shed light on the influence ofmaterial component such as alloying elements. In this study, the GB-mediated reduction of radiation defects in four W-basedalloys (W–Re, W–Ta, W–Mo and W–V) is systematically investigated by atomistic simulations. Quantitative results showthat the defect reduction in W-based alloys is significantly decreased comparing with elementary W. The principal reasonfor this decrease is the presence of various micro configurations where the solute-defect binding interactions are strong. Solutes with high local stress for each atom have a positive effect on the absorption of interstitials by GB. The ability ofGB to absorb interstitials is enhanced with the increasing temperature, and also the accumulation of vacancies is increasedwhen the temperature is as high as 1200 K. The findings in this work provide useful information on the design of radiationtolerance materials.

Purpose: To describe the therapeutic effect and possibility of the ultra-early surgery for poor-grade aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (Hunt-Hess grades Ⅳ-Ⅴ). Materials and Methods: Nine cases with intracranial aneurysms, demonstrated by computed tomographic angiography (CTA), were treated by ultra-early surgery under general anesthesia within 24 hours from subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), 5 cases were treated within 6 hours and 4 cases in 6 - 24 hours. Preoperative Hunt-Hess grade: 6 cases were Ⅳ and 3 cases were Ⅴ. The clinical outcome was evaluated by Glasgow Outcome Scores (GOS). Results: In operation, difficult dissection occurred in 5 cases (55.6%), and rupture of aneurysm occurred and temporary obstructions were performed in 4 cases (44.4%). After clipping of aneurysm, 2 cases underwent V-P shunt because of hydrocephalus, pulmonary infection occurred in 3 cases, hypothalamus reaction accompanied with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage in 2 cases. The clinical outcome were favorable (GOS 4 - 5) in 4 cases (44.4%), dissatisfied (GOS 2 - 3) in 3 cases (33.3%), and dead (GOS 1) in 2 cases (22.2%) when patients departed from our hospital. Conclusion: The ultra-early surgery can avoid early rebleeding of intracranial aneurysm, therefore, should be considered in the treatment of Hunt-Hess grade Ⅳ-Ⅴ intracranial aneurysms. The appliance of CTA can make it possible to use of ultra-early surgery and improve the therapeutic effect. Bacterial symbionts in aphids are known to benefit the insect host and associated with aphid’s ecological adaptation. The pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum), an important legume pest worldwide, carries at least eight endosymbionts, providing a model system to study insect–bacteria interactions. However, species diversity and geographic variations of endosymbionts are unknown in Chinese populations; therefore, we characterized symbiont communities and diversity of 27 pea aphid samples from 13 geographic populations of China. Via amplicon high-throughput sequencing and diagnostic PCR, we found that bacterial communities of Chinese populations were dominated by Proteobacteria and Firmicutes. Among eight known endosymbionts, five (Buchnera, Serratia, Hamiltonella, Regiella, and Rickettsia) were detected by both methods, with a specific geographical distribution. The obligate symbiont, Buchnera, was present in all aphid samples, while the four facultative symbionts showed a significant geographic variation. Each population was randomly infected with distinct endosymbionts, ranging from three to five species. Serratia and Rickettsia showed relatively higher abundance in central regions of China, Regiella was predominant in eastern and western China, whereas Ham iltonella showed an extremely low abundance and was absent in four populations. Samples grouped by altitudes showed a significant diversity difference, whereas there was no significant difference between red and green body colors. Bacterial community structures of the Chinese pea aphid populations were mainly influenced by environmental factors, other than body colors. These data can guide the development of potential biocontrol techniques against this aphid.

Sulforaphane (SFN), a natural compound derived from cruciferous vegetables, has been proved to possess potent anti-cancer activity. SMYD3 is a histone methyltransferase which is closely related to the proliferation and migration of cancer cells. This study showed that SFN could dose-dependently induce cell cycle arrest, stimulate apoptosis, and inhibit proliferation and migration of gastric carcinoma cells. Accompanied with these anticancer effects, SMYD3 and its downstream genes, myosin regulatory light chain 9, and cysteine-rich angiogenic inducer 61, was downregulated by SFN. Furthermore, overexpression of SMYD3 via transfection could abolish the effects of SFN, suggesting that SMYD3 might be an important mediator of SFN. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report describing the role of SMYD3 in the anti-cancer of SFN. These findings might throw light on the development of novel anti-cancer drugs and functional food using SFN-rich cruciferous vegetables.
