        The applications of hybrid approach combining exact method and evolutionary algorithm in combinatorial optimization

        Combinatorial optimization problems have very important applications in information technology, transportation, economics, management, network communication, and other fields. Since the problem size in real-scenario application is in large-scale, the demand for real-time and efficient solving approaches increases rapidly. The traditional exact methods guarantee the optimality of the final solution, but these methods can hardly solve the problem in acceptable time due to extremely high computational costs. Heuristic approaches can find feasible solutions in a limited time, while these approaches cannot meet the demand of solution quality. In recent years, hybrid algorithms based on exact methods and heuristic algorithms show outstanding performance in solving large-scale combinatorial optimization problems. The hybridization not only overcomes the shortcomings from single algorithm but also fully utilizes the search ability for population-based approaches as well as the interpretability in exact methods, which promotes the application of combinatorial optimization in real-world problems. This paper reviews existing studies on hybrid algorithms combining exact method and evolutionary computation, summarizes the characteristics of the existing algorithms, and directs the future research.

        시진핑 시기 ‘평시외교(平視外交)’의 인식과 담론구조

        이 글은 ‘평시외교’ 담론의 등장을 중심으로 중국의 공세적 외교담론과 정책이 어떻게 형성되고 변용되었는가를 추적하고 이러한 외교담론과 중국의 세계인식을 맥락적으로 재구성했다. ‘평시외교’는 ‘중국의 길’이라는 ‘중국식 보편’에 대한 자신감의 표출이자 대등한 위상 정립을 요구하는 일종의 인정투쟁(struggle for recognition)의 성격을 갖는다. ‘중국의 길’의 모색은 후진타오 시기 경제발전 방식의 사회주의로의 전환(과학발전관), 탈서구중심적 세계질서 구상이었던 ‘조화세계’의 제기에서 시작되었다. 2008년 글로벌 금융위기에서 ‘중국의 길’에 대한 자신감이 강화되자 중국은 과거보다 적극적으로 소프트파워를 통해 영향력을 키워나갔고, 시진핑 시기에는 담론수준에 머물러 있던 ‘조화세계’를 ‘인류운명공동체’, ‘신형대국관계’, ‘신형국제관계’로 구체화시키고 일대일로 이니셔티브 등 ‘중화국제화’의 형태로 실천해나갔다. 이러한 과정 속에서 중국 지도부의 세계인식이 어떻게 변화해갔는지를 세밀하게 추적하고 중국 외교담론의 의미구조를 함께 고찰했다. 중국 외교담론이 특정한 시기 중국 전략적 위상의 압축적 투영이라는 점에서 ‘평시외교’ 담론의 등장은 향후 중국외교의 공세성(assertiveness)과 상관성이 높다고 추론했다. This paper focusing on the emergence of the ‘equal footing diplomacy’ discourse examines how China’s assertive diplomatic discourse and practice have been shaped and transformed, and reconstructs the changes in diplomatic discourse and China’s global perception. ‘Equal footing diplomacy’ is an expression of confidence in the 'Chinese Characteristics' represented by the ‘China’s Road’ and also means a kind of recognition struggle that demands the establishment of an balanced status. The search for ‘Chinese Characteristics’ began during the Hu Jintao era with the ‘Scientific Outlook on Development (ke xue fa zhan guan)’and the ‘harmonious world’ as a post-Western-centered vision of the world order. As the confidence in the ‘China's Road’ strengthened through global financial crisis, China assertively using soft power to increase its influence. During the Xijinping era, the ‘harmonious world’, which remained at the level of discourse, has been transformed into the ‘a community with a shared future for mankind’, ‘a new type of major power relationship’, and ‘a new type of international relations’, and implemented in the form of ‘Sinic globalization’ such as the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’. This paper tracked how the Chinese leadership’s global perception has changed and examined the implications of China’s diplomatic discourse. Given that Chinese diplomatic discourse is a projection of China’s strategic position, it was inferred that the occurrence of ‘equal footing diplomacy’ discourse is highly correlated with the assertiveness of Chinese diplomacy in the future.

      • Bullwhip Effect in a Supply Chain with Trend Demand : An Agent-based Simulation View

        The bullwhip effect is one of the core problems in supply chain management. Research on it has made a great progress over the years. However, little research has discussed it combining trend demand with order-up-to level replenishment policy in a multi-echelon supply chain. The fluctuation of the bullwhip effect itself is also seldom analyzed. This paper studies the two problems from the view of agent-based simulation. An agent-based model with complex calculation is developed. One highlight is that the players in the supply chain dynamically and intelligently estimate corresponding parameters at every tick. The results indicate that both the bullwhip effect and its fluctuation aggravate with the increase of leadtime. The trend size of customer demand has little influence on the bullwhip effect. The noise of customer demand does not affect the bullwhip effect significantly when it accords with normal distribution. The mean of the bullwhip effect changes differently with the increase of noise autocorrelation coefficient when noise is an AR(1) process. Meanwhile, the standard deviation of the bullwhip effect roughly changes in line with the mean. This paper also presents one bullwhip effect measurement suitable for trend demand.

        Influence of thermal treatment on the performance of copper phthalocyanine thin-film transistors

        Organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) with bottom-gate and bottom-contact configuration based on copper phthalocyanines (CuPc) as active layer were fabricated. The performance of CuPc OTFTs was studied before and after thermal treatment on CuPc layer. The values of the threshold voltage before and after thermal treatment are -6.3 and -5.7 V, respectively. The field-effect mobility values in saturation regime of CuPc thin-film transistors before and after thermal treatment are 0.014 ㎠/Vs and 0.0068 ㎠/Vs,respectively. The experimental results indicate that there is a heavy decay on the mobility of CuPc based OTFTs mostly due to the crystalline morphology change induced by the thermal treatment, and absolute value of the threshold voltage after thermal treatment decreases with the decrease of the CuPc film thickness and the roughness.

        Advances in CRISPR-Cas systems for RNA targeting, tracking and editing

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein (Cas) systems, especially type II (Cas9) systems, have been widely used in gene/genome targeting. Modifications of Cas9 enable these systems to become platforms for precise DNA manipulations. However, the utilization of CRISPR-Cas systems in RNA targeting remains preliminary. The discovery of type VI CRISPR-Cas systems (Cas13) shed light on RNA-guided RNA targeting. Cas13d, the smallest Cas13 protein, with a length of only ~930 amino acids, is a promising platform for RNA targeting compatible with viral delivery systems. Much effort has also been made to develop Cas9, Cas13a and Cas13b applications for RNA-guided RNA targeting. The discovery of new RNA-targeting CRISPR-Cas systems as well as the development of RNA-targeting platforms with Cas9 and Cas13 will promote RNA-targeting technology substantially. Here, we review new advances in RNA-targeting CRISPR-Cas systems as well as advances in applications of these systems in RNA targeting, tracking and editing. We also compare these Cas protein-based technologies with traditional technologies for RNA targeting, tracking and editing.         Salp swarm algorithm with iterative mapping and local escaping for multi-level threshold image segmentation: a skin cancer dermoscopic case study

        If found and treated early, fast-growing skin cancers can dramatically prolong patients’ lives. Dermoscopy is a convenient and reliable tool during the fore-period detection stage of skin cancer, so the efficient processing of digital images of dermoscopy is particularly critical to improving the level of a skin cancer diagnosis. Notably, image segmentation is a part of image preprocessing and essential technical support in the process of image processing. In addition, multi-threshold image segmentation (MIS) technology is extensively used due to its straightforward and effective features. Many academics have coupled different meta-heuristic algorithms with MIS to raise image segmentation quality. Nonetheless, these meta-heuristic algorithms frequently enter local optima. Therefore, this paper suggests an improved salp swarm algorithm (ILSSA) method that combines iterative mapping and local escaping operator to address this drawback. Besides, this paper also proposes the ILSSA-based MIS approach, which is triumphantly utilized to segment dermoscopic images of skin cancer. This method uses two-dimensional (2D) Kapur’s entropy as the objective function and employs non-local means 2D histogram to represent the image information. Furthermore, an array of benchmark function test experiments demonstrated that ILSSA could alleviate the local optimal problem more effectively than other compared algorithms. Afterward, the skin cancer dermoscopy image segmentation experiment displayed that the proposed ILSSA-based MIS method obtained superior segmentation results than other MIS peers and was more adaptable at different thresholds.

        Hybrid solar cells using nanorod zinc oxide electrodes and perylene monoimide–monoanhydride dyes

        Hybrid solar cells have been fabricated using perylene monoimide.monoanhydride dyes with nanorod zinc oxide electrodes as electron transporting layers. We have investigated the influence of the spacer alkyl chain length of perylene monoimide.monoanhydride (PMIMA) dyes on the device performance in hybrid solar cells using nanorod zinc oxide electrodes. Nanorod zinc oxide electrodes with 50. 150 nm of diameter were synthesized in the presence of PEG400 by using microwave heating method. We observed that the dyes with longer and brunched alkyl chains exhibit higher efficiencies in hybrid solar cells. We report the highest efficiency obtained with zinc oxide nanorods under standard conditions for perylene monoimide.monoanhydride derivative with PMIMA_1 that performs 400 mV open circuit voltage, 2.81 mA/cm2 short-circuit current and 0.59% overall conversion efficiency.

        Effect of a low oxygen and high carbon dioxide modified atmosphere on the mortality of different life stages of Carpophilus hemipterus

        Carpophilus hemipterus is an important cosmopolitan pest species that causes high economic losses in fruits before and after harvest. In this study, 0–2 d old eggs, 12 d old mature larvae and 1 week old adults of C. hemipterus were exposed to a modified atmosphere with low oxygen and high carbon dioxide content (2.1% O 2 + 90% CO 2 + 7.9% N 2 ) for 48–120 h at 20 ◦ C and 75 ± 5% relative humidity. Time-mortality responses were subjected to probit analysis, and the difference between lethal exposure times (LTs) for the different life stages were compared using a lethal dose ratio test. LT 95 values were recorded as 221.83 h, 82.79 h and 65.31 h for egg, larval and adult stages, respectively. The statistical difference between LT 95 values was significant and egg stage was found to be more tolerant than the other two life stages. In addition, the larvae were found to be more tolerant than adults. According to the results of this study, a long time was needed to control the eggs of C. hemipterus.
