Antaeus: Heaney’s Reincarnation through Mythic Re-presentation
Sukla Kisku 한국예이츠학회 2023 한국예이츠 저널 Vol.70 No.-
Eminent Irish Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney has oftentimes received the cooperation of mythic accounts for his compositions, in order to reveal his clutter of thoughts through appropriate poetic expressions. To employ the genre of myth for his poetic mission, Heaney has actually participated in the celebration of the past, where reinventing or rethinking the past gets preference. In fact, the reincarnation of myth would never have been possible the way Heaney employed it a number of times in his compositions. Among many mythic personages, Antaeus could possibly be that one figure who incessantly reminds the reader of Heaney’s disturbed position during the northern unrest, revealing his endless mental struggle. Under the title of this mythic eponymous character, “Antaeus” and “Hercules and Antaeus” – in his 1975 collection North- could be read as an attempt to articulate the account of instability, anxiety, trauma, indecisiveness all at once. Corresponding to his own situation, Antaeus can be imagined as a perfect spokesperson to narrate Heaney’s own dilemmas, unveiling his own questions of reincarnation. Through mythic re-presentation, he brings himself to face his own self, which has been challenged from time to time by foreign compulsions, with undoubted interruption of socio-political suspension.
Sustainable self compacting acid and sulphate resistance RAC by two stage mixing approaches
Rajhans, Puja,Kisku, Nishikant,Nayak, Sanket,Panda, Sarat Kumar Techno-Press 2020 Advances in concrete construction Vol.9 No.1
In this research article, acid resistance, sulphate resistance and sorptivity of self compacted concrete (SCC) prepared from C&D waste have been discussed. To improve the above properties of self compacted recycled aggregate concrete (SCRAC) along with mechanical and durability properties, different two stage mixing approaches (TSMA and TSMAsfc) were followed. In the proposed two stage mixing approach (TSMAsfc), silica fume, a proportional amount of cement and a proportional amount of water were mixed in premix stage which fills the pores and cracks of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). The concrete specimen prepared using above mixing approaches were immersed in 1% concentration of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) and magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) solution for 28, 90 and 180 days for evaluating the acid resistance of SCRAC. Experimental results concluded that the proposed two stage mixing approach (TSMAsfc) is most suitable for acid resistance and sulphate resistance in terms of weight loss and strength loss due to the elimination of pores and cracks in the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). In modified two stage mixing approach, the pores and cracks of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) were filled up and make ITZs of SCRAC stronger. Microstructure analysis was carried out to justify the reason of improvement of ITZs by electron probe micro analyser (EPMA) analysis. X-ray mapping was also done to know the presence of strength contributing elements presents in the concrete sample. It was established that SCRAC with modified mixing approach have shown improved results in terms of acid resistance, sulphate resistance, sorptivity and mechanical properties.
The multifaceted role of mangiferin in health and diseases: a review
Jangra Ashok,Arora Mandeep Kumar,Kisku Anglina,Sharma Sonal 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2021 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.21 No.4
A wide range of natural products including, flavonoids have been studied for their therapeutic potential in different diseases. Mangiferin (2-c-b-d-glucopyranosyl 1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxyxanthone), a natural plant xanthonoid polyphenol present mainly in the leaves and bark of Mangifera indica exhibited therapeutic activities in the treatment of various illnesses. Mounting evidence suggested mangiferin as a potent compound having diverse pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, cardioprotective, nephroprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-diabetic, anti-asthamtic, gastroprotective, immunomodulatory, anti-cancer, and hypocholesterolemic effects. Mangiferin can be considered powerful free radical scavenging activity along with multifaceted molecular targets, such as NF-ҡB, Nrf2-HO-1, PI3K/Akt, MAPK/ TGF-β, SIRT-1, mTOR, AMPK, and PPARγ signaling pathways in different pathological conditions. The current review article presents an overview of major pharmacological actions and underlying pleotropic molecular mechanisms of mangiferin that have been reported in the recent literature that sheds the light on the potential of this phytoconstituent as intriguing therapeutic approach for the management of different pathological conditions. A narrative review of all the relevant papers published right from the first article on mangiferin to articles of 2020 was conducted and required data was extracted from selected papers. For the same pubmed, and other digital repository sites were explored.
Estimating Normalized Attention of Viewers on Account of Relative Visual Saliency of Faces (NRVS)
Ravi kant kumar,Jogendra Garain,Goutam Sanyal,Dakshina Ranjan Kisku 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.9 No.7
Humans psychological and behavioral understanding often lead to make natural decision which accurately identifies and remembers the faces which are highly appreciated or criticized by themselves in comparing to the normal viewed faces, in terms of beauty, ugliness or unique appearance. It happens due to human psychology of being biased towards the salient face in the process of face recognition and identification. This paper attempts a novel method to measure, how our attention is more restricted towards some particular faces in the crowd. This restricted attention is strongly guided by the relative visual saliency of these faces. In this paper, normalized relative visual saliency (NVRS) of the faces is evaluated using their intensity values modulated with respective spatial distance. Experiment has been carried out on test image dataset via bottom up approach. The experimental results are found to be encouraging and accuracy has also been measured exhibiting efficacy of the proposed approach.

Selection of cohort models plays a vital role to increase the accuracy of a biometric authentication system as well as to reduce the computational cost. This paper proposes a novel approach for cohort selection called Max-Min-Centroid-Cluster (MMCC) method. The clusters of cohorts are generated by K-means clustering technique. The union of the clusters having largest and smallest centroid value is taken as cohort subset. The cohort scores, after normalization using different cohort based score normalization techniques, are used in authentication process of the system. Evaluation has been carried out on FEI face datasets. The performance of this novel methodology is analyzed using T-norm and Aggarwal (max rule) normalization techniques. Experimental results exhibit the efficacy of the proposed method.

Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) inkjet is one of the non-contact jet based promising technology to fabricate high-resolution features of functional materials with higher efficiency. Uniformity of the deposited droplets is one of the key demands of the EHD inkjet system for printing micro-features in microsensors, printed flexible electronics or various MEMS devices. In this study, a new methodology has been proposed to model the uniformity grade of the deposited droplets. In this present work, a significant improvement in the printing quality has been achieved with the help of some modern optimization methods coupled with some traditional statistical methods. Instead of a single fixed solution (may or may not be feasible), the proposed methodology suggests a feasible region with a large set of solutions. It extends the operators’ flexibility to choose from a wide range of input parameters which yield droplet depositions with higher uniformity. The proposed methodology is further evaluated with some experimental runs to fabricate discrete dots and continuous line patterns. This method is considered to be a promising and effective alternative offline approach to increase the uniformity of the droplets.
