Three new alkaloids, 2a-hydroxy-6-O-n-butyloduline,O-n-butyllycorenine, (-)-N-(chloromethyl)lycoramine(1–3), and a new phenolic compound, ((7S)-7-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-hydroxypropyl)-20-methylbenzene-30,60-diol (14), along with ten known alkaloids (4–13), wereisolated from the bulbs of Lycoris aurea collected fromHuaihua County of Hunan Province, China. Their structureswere elucidated by spectroscopic methods includingHRESIMS, UV, IR, and NMR. All the isolated compoundswere tested for their neuroprotective effects against CoCl2and H2O2-induced SH-SY5Y cell death. Compounds 1–7and 10 exhibited significant neuroprotective effects againstCoCl2-induced SH-SY5Y cell injury, while compounds1–5, 7, 10 and 12 showed obvious neuroprotective effectsagainst H2O2-induced SH-SY5Y cell death.

Single and 4 weeks oral administration of New wonbangwoohwangchungsimwon (NSCH) which was used l-muscone as substitutive material of musk, to beagle dogs of both sexes were performed to investigate both acute and subacute toxicity. Beagle dogs (3 males and 3 females) in acute experiments were administered orally with sinlge dose of 2,000 ㎎/㎏ and groups of 9 male and 9 female beagle dogs in subacute experiments were given daily different dosage of NSCH, 160 ㎎/㎏/day (low dosage group), 400 ㎎/㎏/day (middle dosage group), 1,000 ㎎/㎏/day (high dosage group) once a day for 4 weeks by oral route according to the Established Regulation of Korea Food and Drug Administration (1996. 4. 16). LD_50 value for beagle dogs was more than 2,000 ㎎/㎏ per oral for both male and females. In animals administered with NSCH, there were neither dead animals nor significant changes of body weights. In addition, no differences were found between control and treated groups in clinical sign, urinalysis, eye examination, hematology, serum chemistry, organ weight and other fingings. No histological lesions were observed in both control and treatment groups. Above data strongly suggset that NSCH in beagle dogs is considered to be safe.

Purpose - This study is aimed at small business start-ups in Korea and China, and examines the effect of “self-efficacy,” an individual factor that affects the start-up performance of small business owners on “startup intention” and “start-up performance”. In addition, we will also consider the mediating effect of start-up intention and the moderating effect of digital transformation. At present, due to the proliferation of digital technologies and the prolongation of COVID-19, it is difficult for small business start-ups to operate with their existing business models. Therefore, we have focused on “digital transformation” as one of the capabilities they need. We also wanted to know whether digital transformation has a positive moderating effect between start-up intention and start-up performance in small businesses of Korea and China. Design/Methodology/Approach - In existing research, various factors explaining the start-up performance in small business were reviewed. In this study, the self-efficacy of small business start-ups was set as the independent variable and the start-up performance as the dependent variable. In addition, the mediating effect of the start-up intention was examined. As mentioned above, we also tried to look at the moderating effect of digital transformation. After establishing a research model based on the existing research, a survey was conducted for small business start-ups in Korea and China for empirical test, and the results were analyzed. Findings - In the case of small business start-ups in both Koreas and China, most of the relationships among self-efficacy, start-up intention, and start-up performance showed the same results. On the other hand, in the case of the moderating effect of digital transformation, positive moderating effect was found in Korea. However, there was no moderating effect in China. Research Implications - In both samples from Korea and China, self-efficacy had a positive effect on startup performance through start-up intention. It is inferred that the difference in the moderating effect is due to various factors such as culture, institutions, and policies between Korea and China. Finally, academic, economic, and policy implications were suggested.

The efficacy of Trichogramma against pests basically depends on the dispersal capacity of the wasps. A releaserecapture method was used in this study to evaluate the effect of relative wind speed (RWS) during the nighttime and the daytime on the dispersal capacity of postrelease population of Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura. Two repeated measurements were carried out, using sentinel cards with the host eggs and yellow sticky card traps on the third and the sixth day after wasp release. The results showed that: (1) both the number of recaptured wasps and parasitized eggs increased with the RWS in the daytime during the first three days. The number of parasitized eggs also increased with the RWS in the daytime over the latter three days. The distances that encompassed 98% recaptured T. dendrolimi adults (X 98 ) at the first three days was quadratically increased by the RWS of the daytime. (2) The number of wasps recaptured decreased with the distance from the releasing point during the first three days, but it was not influenced by the distance from the releasing point during the latter three days. (3) The average dispersal radius of the wasps during the first three days was shorter than during the latter three days. The present results will be helpful to improve release techniques based on the wind effects at different times.
Terrabacter ginsengisoli sp. nov., isolated from ginseng cultivating soil
Jin, Mei-Fang,Quan, Xiao-Tian,Siddiqi, Muhammad Zubair,Liu, Qing-Zhen,Yu, Hong-Shan,Im, Wan-Taek MICROBIOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF KOREA 2018 JOURNAL OF MICROBIOLOGY -SEOUL- Vol.56 No.5
A Gram-positive, strictly aerobic, nonmotile, yellowish, coccus-rod-shaped bacterium (designated Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX>) isolated from ginseng cultivating soil was characterized using a polyphasic approach to clarify its taxonomic position. The strain Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX> exhibited optimal growth at pH 7.0 on R2A agar medium at <TEX>$30^{\circ}C$</TEX>. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities, indicated that Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX> belongs to the genus Terrabacter of the family Humibacillus, and was closely related to Terrabacter tumescens DSM <TEX>$20308^T$</TEX> (98.9%), Terrabacter carboxydivorans <TEX>$PY2^T$</TEX> (98.9%), Terrabacter terrigena <TEX>$ON10^T$</TEX> (98.8%), Terrabacter terrae <TEX>$PPLB^T$</TEX> (98.6%), and Terrabacter lapilli <TEX>$LR-26^T$</TEX> (98.6%). The DNA G + C content was 70.5 mol%. The major quinone was MK-8(<TEX>$H_4$</TEX>). The primary polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidyl-ethanolamine. The predominant fatty acids were <TEX>$iso-C_{15:0}$</TEX>, <TEX>$iso-C_{16:0}$</TEX>, <TEX>$iso-C_{14:0}$</TEX>, and <TEX>$anteiso-C_{15:0}$</TEX>, as in the case of genus Terrabacter, thereby supporting the categorization of strain Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX>. However, the DNA-DNA relatedness between Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX> and closely related strains of Terrabacter species was low at less than 31%. Moreover, strain Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX> could be both genotypically and phenotypically distinguished from the recognized species of the genus Terrabacter. This isolate, therefore, represents a novel species, for which the name Terrabacter ginsengisoli sp. nov. is proposed with the type strain Gsoil <TEX>$653^T$</TEX> (<TEX>$=KACC\;19444^T=LMG\;30325^T$</TEX>).
