The primary surgical objective in treatment of burn wound is to eliminate the damaged tissue and close the wound promptly so that the septic, metabolic, and functional effects that accompany an open colonized wounds will be avoided. It is difficult to apply this principle to deep and extensive burns, however, because of delays imposed by a physiologic-limit to the area of eschar that can be safely excised at one operation and because of lack of sufficient unburned donor sites to provide closure of the wounds with autograft. The mesh grafts in which skin could be stretched from 1½times to 9 times its original size have been made to obtain maximum coverage from minimal donor sites, but the pain and oozing can not be controlled until the epithelization covers the raw surfaces of the meshed graft. These problems have stimmulated the search for the biological dressings with amniotic membrane on mesh graft that simulate partial thickness burn, which provide comparable beneficial local and general physiologic effects. In our personal experience of eight cases, this form of treatment of deep and extensive burns has proved the more effective and practical method.

As we head towards the Twenty-First Century, many developed nations, such as United States, England, French, and Canada etc., have seen a change in their perception of womens roles in their respective societies; it seems that a resocialization of women, encouraging physical activity on their part, leads to increase in the competitiveness of the nation undertaking such a change. New guidelines for the physical fitness of women, announced by the International Olympic Committee, greatly increases the breadth of their activity scopes. These guidelines are motivational: they show that women should free themselves form merely imitating mens activity scopes in order unselfconsciously to develop their own, using appropriate equipment. Since a change in the way women perceive physical fitness may lead to a change in the way they are perceived within a society, it follows that a new way of looking at physical fitness for Korean women should be taken seriously. The following four recommendations are made by this study: (1) Women should take an active part in establishing role models for physical fitness; previous role models have been defined by prevalent cultural biases, which have mislead women and accelerated physical fitness discrepancies between men and women. (2) School curriculums, which have been developed by men or tend to be sexually biased, should be revised also to include subjects, besides physical education, which offer education from a female perspective. (3) More time should be allocated in curriculums for the physical education of female students, who should be encouraged to develop and maintain a desire for physical fitness. (4) Women should be encouraged to become involved in a variety of athletic activities to help them redefine their image of what physical fitness is, an image which previously may have been defined by society.
