        Examining the Structural Relationship among Leadership Styles, Employee Empowerment and Organizational Commitment: Evidence from Chinese IT Companies

        중국의 현재 경제 상황에서 직원들의 조직에 대한 몰입을 강화시키는 리더십 스타일은 매우 중요한 주제이다. 본 연구의 목적은 리더십 스타일, 임파워먼트 그리고 조직몰입 간의 구조적 인과관계를 조사하는 데 있다. 리더들이 자신의 리더십 스타일을 이해하고, 직원들로 하여금 더 많은 의사결정 권한을 부여하는 것은 직원들이 보다 효과적으로 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 많은 도움을 줄 수 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구에서는 중국 심천에 소재한 IT기업들에 대한 광범위한 설문 조사를 실시하여 총 403개의 데이터를 수집하였고, 분석은 SPSS와 AMOS를 이용하였다. 분석결과, 리더십 스타일은 종업원의 임파워먼트와 조직몰입에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 종업원에 대한 임파워먼트도 조직몰입에 영향을 미치며 리더십 스타일과 조직몰입 간의 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 조직에서 직원들이 자존감이 낮고 회사가 임파워먼트에 적극적이지 않은 경우 조직몰입도가 낮아 이직 가능성이 높을 수 있다. 본 연구결과는 중국 IT기업에 적합한 리더십 스타일은 변혁적 리더십보다는 거래적 리더십이며, 이러한 리더십 하에 종업원에 대한 적절한 임파워먼트가 이루어진다면 직원들의 조직몰입을 이끌 수 있다는 것을 보여준다. In the current economic situation of China, the leadership style and organizational commitment of employees has become an important topic. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships among leadership style, employee empowerment and organizational commitment. And help leaders to understand which leadership style is more important and suitable for them, and to increase employees sense of identify of the organization and giving them more power so that they can work more effectively. To serve this purpose, this study conducted an extensive survey of IT companies in ShenZhen, China, and 403 valid data was collected. The research model was analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. According to the result, leadership style has a profound influence on organizational commitment. And leadership style can also impact on empowerment. Employees' empowerment also significantly influence the organization commitment, and exist a mediating effect between the leadership style of organizational commitment. The results of this study provided a new reference and a more suitable leadership style for Chinese IT enterprises that transactional leadership is more effective than transformational leadership, and it is more effective to encourage employees with rewards.

        An Empirical Study on the Relationship Between Transformational Leadership and Employee Creativity: Mediating Role of Perception of Meaning in Work and Work Engagement

        중국의 급속한 경제 성장은 지속되고 있으나 창의성 측면은 아직 요원하다. 중국 기업의 관리자들은 직원들이 보다 효율적으로 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 장려하는 노하우가 아직 부족하다. 한편 중국 기업에서 일하고 있는 대부분의 직원들은 자신의 업무에 몰입하지 않을 뿐만 아니라 때로는 자신의 업무가 의미가 없다고 생각하는 경우가 많다. 이러한 배경에서 변혁적 리더십은 중국 IT 기업에서 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 중국 심천에 소재한 IT기업에서 근무하는 직원들을 대상으로 업무 및 업무 참여의 의미에 대한 인식을 통해 변혁적 리더십이 직원의 창의력에 미치는 영향을 조사하는 것이다. 이를 위해 사례 IT기업에 근무하는 직원들을 대상으로 광범위한 설문조사를 실시하여 140개의 유효 데이터를 수집하였다. 자료의 통계분석은 SPSS와 AMOS를 이용하였다. 분석결과 일과 노동 참여의 의미를 통한 변혁적 리더십이 직원의 창의력에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 이에 대한 학술적, 실무적 시사점을 제시하였다. China's rapid economic growth is continuous but the country still has a long way to become a center for creativity. Leaders have no idea how to encourage their employees to work more efficiently in Chinese companies. Meanwhile the majority of employees are not fully engaged in their work, sometimes they think their work is not meaningful. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between transformational leadership and employee creativity, through perceptions of meaning in work and work engagement among employees working in XunLei Networking Technology Corporation. 140 valid data were collected and were analysed using SPSS and AMOS. Results showed that transformational leadership has a positive and significant influence on meaning in work and work engagement. Meaning in work has a significant effect on work engagement, and work engagement has a significant influence on employee creativity. This study provides both academic and practical implications about transformational leadership and employee creativity through meaning in work and work engagement.

        To solve the cloud computing resource scheduling problem in IaaS platform, a scheduling model based on ant colony algorithm was proposed. In this model, pheromone changes dynamically according to the best route searched by ants. This model automatically updates pheromones and guides ants to search the global best route. Experiment results show that the proposed model is of better ability in energy consumption in the IaaS cloud computing platform.

        Correlation between Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Visceral Adipose Tissue in Non-Obese Chinese Adults: A CT Evaluation

        Objective: To investigate the correlation between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and visceral adipose tissue in non-obese Chinese adults using computed tomography (CT). Materials and Methods: The study included 454 subjects undergoing abdominal CT scan. Degree of CT attenuation in liver and spleen, and the degree of fat infiltration in liver were evaluated according to three indices: the attenuation value of liver parenchyma (CTLP), the attenuation ratio of liver and spleen (LSratio) and the attenuation difference between liver and spleen (LSdif). Visceral fat area (VFA) and total fat area (TFA) at L2/3 and L4/5 levels were measured, and the abdominal subcutaneous fat area (SFA) was calculated. Bivariate correlation analysis was carried out to determine the correlation among these factors. Results: In men, VFA, SFA and TFA at L2/3 and L4/5 levels showed significant differences in terms of the three indices to distinguish fatty liver from non-fatty liver (all, p < 0.001). In men, all the three indices showed negative correlation with TFA, SFA and VFA (all, p < 0.001). The negative correlation between the three indices and VFA at the L2/3 level was higher than at L4/5 level (r = -0.476 vs. r = -0.340 for CTLP, r = -0.502 vs. r = -0.413 for LSratio, r = -0.543 vs. r = -0.422 for LSdif, p < 0.001, respectively). The negative correlation between LSratio, LSdif and VFA at L2/3 and L4/5 levels was higher than SFA at the corresponding level. In women, all the three indices showed negative correlation with VFA and TFA at L2/3 and L4/5 levels, and the negative correlation between CTLP and VFA was higher at L2/3 level than at L4/5 level (r = -0.294 vs. r = -0.254, p < 0.001). Conclusion: In non-obese Chinese adults, the degree of hepatic fatty infiltration showed a strong correlation with abdominal fat on CT. VFA at L2/3 level was more closely related to fatty liver compared with VFA at L4/5 level.

        Alu Tandem Sequences Inhibit GFP Gene Expression by Triggering Chromatin Wrapping

        Alu elements belonging to the short interspersed nuclear elements (SINE) of repetitive elements are present in more than one million copies which altogether represent 10% of the whole human genome. In this study, the roles of Alu tandem sequences in the process of GFP gene (GFP) expression and packing into chromatin of its DNA were studied. To detect the effect of Alu repeats on gene expression, different copies of Alus were inserted GFP downstream respectively in pEGFP-C1 vector. We found that Alu sequences decreased the amount of GFP transcription, the percentage of GFP positive cells and the accessibility to DNase I in length-dependent manner. Inserting Alu caused the production of higher-molecular-mass RNA, indicating Alu sequence did not induce premature transcriptional termination. Tight packing chromatins keep silent and resist to DNase I digestion, which is a general phenomenon. We suggested that head and tail tandem Alu sequences suppressed GFP expression in length dependent manner by triggering chromatin packing.
