      • Electrodeposition of Aluminum Coatings on Copper Substrates Using Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) in the Air

        Aluminum’s exceptional properties, such as its high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and low neutron absorption cross-section, make it an ideal material for diverse nuclear industry applications, including aluminum plating for the building envelope of nuclear power plants. However, plating aluminum presents challenges due to its high reactivity with oxygen and moisture, thus, complicating the process in the absence of controlled environments. Plating under an inert atmosphere is often used as an alternative. However, maintaining an inert atmosphere can be expensive and presents an economic challenge. To address these challenges, an innovative approach is introduced by using deep eutectic solvents (DES) as a substitute for traditional aqueous electrolytes due to the high solubility of metal salts, and wide electrochemical window. In addition, DESs offer the benefits of low toxicity, low flammability, and environmentally friendly, which makes DESs candidates for industrial-scale applications. In this study, we employed an AlCl3-Urea DES as the electrolyte and investigated its potential for producing aluminum coatings on copper substrates under controlled conditions, for example, current density, deposition duration, and temperature. A decane protective layer, non-polar molecular, has been used to shield the AlCl3-Urea electrolyte from the air during the electrodeposition process. The electrodeposition was successful after being left in the air for two weeks. This study presents a promising and innovative approach to optimizing aluminum electrodeposition using deep eutectic solvents, with potential applications in various areas of the nuclear industry, including fuel cladding, waste encapsulation, and radiation shielding.

      • Development of High Strength Glass-ceramic using Slag for Industrial Application

        In Korean steel making industry is generating 25 billion tons of slag as industrial by-products per year. Uses of these slags to manufacture high functional abrasive material are of greater feasible option for sustainable development of industry as well as effectively solve the pollution issue associated with these waste. Recycling methods of slag have been actively studied for decades, but most of the slag recycling methods studied are related to low cost building materials. Recently, several combinations of by-products have been used in glass-ceramic manufacturing, mostly the abrasive materials are basalt based glassceramic. Using these industrial by-products instead of natural basalt ores, high functional product can be manufactured. This piece of investigation focused on the feasibility study for producing the basalt based glass-ceramic from recycled industrial by-products only, without any natural materials as raw materials. By controlling various process parameters like, mixture ratios of materials, heat treatment for casting, and soaking basalt based glass-ceramic were prepared. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermo-gravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). Excellent material properties were observed.

      • An Efficient Motion-Compensated Frame Interpolation Method Using Temporal Information for High-Resolution Videos

        <P>High-resolution (HR) videos have many different properties from low-resolution videos in terms of motion vectors (MVs) and occlusions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an optimized motion-compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) method for HR videos. This paper proposes an MCFI method for HR videos that uses a hierarchical motion estimation composed of a modified 3-D recursive search and motion refinement using temporal MV smoothness. In addition, a robust frame interpolation method is proposed that assigns accurate MVs to the intermediate frame. The experimental results confirm that the proposed method outperforms previous MCFI methods in terms of the quality of the intermediate frames.</P>

      • Ultraprecision machining based micro-hybrid lens fabrication for scanning device

        In this research, refractive-diffractive hybrid design is proposed for micro-lens used in optical scanning system. For refractive design of the lens, optimization method with reducing transverse ray aberration is used for target focal length with minimized aberration. Diffractive efficiency considering depth and period of Fresnel edge pattern is calculated by RCWA, and then the proper depth and minimum period of the Fresnel edge pattern can be determined for high efficiency. In the lens geometry, machining limit of V-shaped diamond tool must be applied, because the tool determines limit of the micro-pattern size and possibility of the machining so that it determines the whole size of the lens. With the process, the refractive lens can be optimized for 300 μm focal length and minimum aberration, the depth of Fresnel edge is determined to 0.94 μm by the diffractive design of PMMA (index 1.4985) lens, and also the 4985) lens, and also the is determined to 423.4 μm when considering machining limit. This designed lens is fabricated by 5-axis ultraprecision machine with nanometer resolution for low surface roughness. Then, the lens is imprinted by hot embossing process. The result of measuring focal length is 336 μm and NA is calculated to 0.63. Also, imaging test of the lens is investigated, and the lens can be used in optical scanning system by the result.

        A Study on the Adoption of the Verified Gross Mass(VGM) in the Incoterms®2020

        본 연구는 Incoterms 개정에 있어 주요 사항과 컨테이너 총종량 검증제도를 Incoterms에 적용하 기 위한 사항을 검토하기 위한 내용을 연구하였다. IncotermsⓇ2020 개정에 있어 도입 부분에서 컨테이너 총중량 검증제도를 언급하고 있지만 실질적으로 각 규칙에서는 당사자의 의무 사항에 대하여 반영하고 있지 않다. 컨테이너 총중량 검증제도는 최근 해상사고가 전통적인 해상 위험에서 기인하기 보다 위험화물 및 부실한 화물정보에 따른 선박의 복원력 상실 등에 따라 발생하고 있고 이를 방지하기 위하여 SOLAS협약 및 선박안전법 등에 의거, 컨테이너의 검증 정보 제공을 위한 목적으로 제정되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 IncotermsⓇ2020의 주요개정 사 항과 VGM제도에 대하여 검토해 보고 IncotermsⓇ2020에서 VGM제도에 대한 적용 가능성 여부 를 검토해 보았다. 검토 결과 VGM 제도가 가지고 있는 일부 문제점을 해결한다면 향후 Incoterms에서 VGM을 반영하여 각 당사자의 의무사항에 반영하여 보다 명확한 의무 사항을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 보이며, 이를 통한 컨테이너 화물의 안전성 및 각 당사자의 이익 보호를 할 수 있을 것을 시사하고 있다. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to improve the applicability and improvement of the verify gorss mass(VGM) system in Incoterms. Research design, data, methodology : In order to review the linkability between Incoterms and VGM systems, the study looked at the parties' obligations in Incoterms and looked at the contents and characteristics of the vgm system to see how the two systems could be harmonized. In this regard, the study of literature was mainly carried out. Results : The result suggests that the vgm system is not reflected in the current revision of the incoterms, but if some problems with the vgm system are resolved, it could be applied as a party obligation in the future. Conclusions : This result shows that incoterms will be revised, the vgm system, which has a close relationship with the cost sharing, should be reflected in each rule to reflect the relationship between the parties, and governments and academia will also need to establish a maintenance and support system for the system to examine its stability in container cargo and its link with Incoterms for the activation of international transactions.

        Comparison of Craniovertebral Angle and Muscle Properties after Smartphone Use in Healthy Individuals with and without Forward Head Posture

        Purpose : Forward head posture (FHP) is one of the most common postural malalignment of the cranio-cervical region. Previous studies have reported that FHP might affect both temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and cervical muscles, but still remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to compare the changes of craniovertebral angle (CVA) and muscle properties after smartphone use in healthy individuals with and without FHP. Methods : Fifteen healthy individuals aged 18 to 22 years were included. CVA was evaluated using Dartfish motion analysis, and the subjects were divided into two groups according to their CVA: a FHP group (n = 7, CVA less than 48 °) and a control group (n = 8, CVA more than 48 °). MyotonPro was used to measure muscle properties of masseter, digastric and sternocleidomastoid muscles (SCM). Each subject underwent 15-minutes of smartphone task (web browsing or video watching) in relaxed sitting posture. CVA and muscles properties were assessed both before and after the smartphone task. Results : There were significant changes in post measurements of CVA between the groups. Masseter muscle showed significant differences in pre and post measurements of all muscle properties, and digastric muscle showed significance only in muscle tone. Amount of changes (post-pre), however, showed no significant difference in this study. Conclusion : 15-minutes of smartphone task did not affect CVA and muscle properties of masseter, digastric and SCM in both groups, however, there were significant changes in pre and post measurements of CVA and some muscle properties of masseter and digastric muscles. Therefore, CVA, masseter and digastric muscles might be significantly changed in a heavy duration of smartphone usage more than 15-minutes. Further studies are needed regarding duration of smartphone task, assessments in other various TMJ muscle groups, and participants with pathological FHP conditions.

        4.0i Comparative Study of Policies and Systems Related to Fresh Logistics in Korea, China and Japan

        본 논문은 최근 관심도가 높아지고 있는 신선물류 및 콜드체인과 관련하여 동북아 주요 국가 인 한․중․일 신선물류 정책 및 제도의 시사점에 대하여 연구하였다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌조사, 기초통계분석 등을 활용하여 인프라 동향, 현행제도 및 주요 정책동향 등을 파악하여 동북아 주요 3개국의 향후 신선물류의 나아갈 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 분석결과 3국간 신선물류에 대한 정책 및 제도적 접근에 차이가 있으며 이를 극복하기 위하여 거시적 차원의 계획에 있어 신선물류가 협력적으로 포함되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 또한 물류분야의 제도적 차이점으로 인 하여 국가간 원활한 물류체계 구축의 장애 요인으로 파악되고 있다. 이와 같은 분석결과 한중 일 3개국간 물류협력의 경우 민관을 포괄하는 상호 소통이 필요하며 물류 각 산업분야와 관련 하여서도 각 분야별 논의가 필요한 상황이며 정부간 협력을 통한 상호인증 및 상호인정 등의 방법을 통해 이를 극복해 나가야 할 것임을 시사점에서 제시하였다. Purpose : This study is to explore ways to cooperate by reviewing policies and systems for fresh logistics between Korea, China, Japan and the three countries. Research design, data, methodology : The paper uses literature surveys and basic statistical analysis, we tried to identify trends in infrastructure, current system and major policy trends to identify trends in fresh logistics in the three major Northeast Asian countries and provide directions for future fresh logistics. Results : The result suggests that due to the differences in the logistics sector, it has been identified as an obstacle to establishing a smooth logistics system among countries. Conclusions : This result shows that logistics cooperation between the three countries, public-private communication is necessary and discussions are needed in each field of logistics and it is necessary to overcome them through mutual certification and mutual recognition through intergovernmental cooperation.
