      • KEEP ME POSTED! CSR COMMUNICATION AND ITS IMPACT ON FAVORABLE EMPLOYEES´ OUTCOMES

        Sarah Desirée Schaefer,Sandra Diehl,Ralf Terlutter 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

Drawing from signaling theory (Rynes, 1991) and social identity theory (Ashforth & Mael, 1989), this investigation examines how a company´s CSR communication, especially the liking of the company’s CSR advertisements, their message credibility, as well as their cause-company-fit, influences employees´ evaluation of the perceived organizational CSR engagement, and how the evaluation of the perceived organizational CSR engagement relates to employees´ job satisfaction, organizational pride, and word-of-mouth. An experimental study was carried out with the employees (n = 432) of a large European energy provider in order to test the model assumptions. To illustrate comprehensively the CSR engagement of the company four collages were developed including either customer-oriented CSR appeals, employee-oriented CSR appeals, environmental-oriented CSR appeals or philanthropic-oriented CSR appeals. Empirical findings suggest that the developed model is largely confirmed. Interestingly, results show that the liking of the CSR advertisements is not found to be a significant determinant of employees´ CSR evaluation. Instead, findings reveal that message credibility and perceived cause-company-fit are significant determinants of employees´ CSR evaluation. In addition, results indicate that the more employees perceive their organization as socially responsible, the more likely they feel satisfied to work for their company, the more likely they feel proud of being a member of this company and the more likely is their willingness to praise their company. This study contributes to the advancement of CSR research in several ways: First, the conceptualized model can be used to explain how CSR communication influences employees´ evaluation of the perceived organizational CSR engagement and how this relates to employees´ attitudes and behavior at the workplace. Second, by drawing on signaling theory (Rynes, 1991) and social identity theory (Ashforth & Mael, 1989) in order to explain CSR communication effects, this investigation adds theoretical foundation to CSR communication research. Third, the investigation demonstrates that CSR communication effects may go well beyond traditional effects such as fostering customers´ purchase. A company´s CSR communication is also able to influence favorable employees´ outcomes.

Asphaltene thermal treatment and optimization of oxidation conditions of low-cost asphaltene-derived carbon fibers

        Peiyuan Zuo,Desirée Leistenschneider,Yuna Kim,Zahra Abedi,Douglas G. Ivey,Xuehua Zhang,Weixing Chen 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.104 No.-

This investigation is aimed at determining the conditions for the oxidation/stabilization of asphaltenefibers through extensive physicochemical characterization and evaluation of mechanical properties ofthe resulting carbon fibers. Melt spinning was used to fabricate green fibers using asphaltenes, from bothstraight solvent-de-asphalting (SDA) processing and subsequent thermal treatment. Thermal pretreatmentof SDA asphaltenes was found to yield much improved carbon fiber properties. An oxidation treatmentof HT300-derived (thermal pretreatment at 300 C) carbon fibers provided the best mechanicalproperties with an average tensile strength of 1130 MPa and an average Young’s modulus of 71 GPa. Thermal treatment of SDA asphaltenes led to much lower sulfur content in both oxidized and carbonizedfibers when oxidation was performed at 300 C. BET, XPS, and XRD analyses showed that carbon fibersfabricated from treated asphaltenes with improved mechanical properties had a lower surface area, lowerpore volume, higher amount of stable functional groups than SDA asphaltene-derived carbon fibers.

Antimicrobial Activity of Polymeric Microfibers Containing Coix Lacryma-Jobi Extract

        Gabriela Lauer Breitenbach,Marina Giombelli Rosenberger,Andressa Giombelli Rosenberger,Josiane Caetano,Michelly Cristina Galdioli Pellá,Desirée Tamara Scheidt,Cleide Viviane Buzanello Martins,Edvani C 한국고분자학회 2020 Macromolecular Research Vol.28 No.9

Wound dressings are based on the creation of ideal environments for cell mobility, gas exchanges and to promote tissue healing and regeneration, besides controlling bacterial proliferation. Electrospinning is a simple, cheap and common technique used for such purposes and Ecovio®, a polymeric blend based on biocompatible polymers (poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) and poly(lactic acid) (PLA)), is a good example of polymer with unique properties for wound dressing materials development. To ensure antimicrobial properties, Job’s tears (Coix lacrymajobi) extract was incorporated into the material. The obtained fiber mats were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffractometry (DRX), optical microscopy (OM), and microbiological analysis. The interaction among the compounds of the extract and the polymeric matrix was inferred by the increase in the crystallinity degree and thermal stability of the fibers/extract. Also, a decrease in the diameter, roughness, and fiber homogeneity was observed. It happened due to the presence of extract in the fibers. Microbiological analysis (antimicrobial activity against S. aureus) indicated the effectiveness of the fibers/extract in preventing this bacteria growth, demonstrating the potential of this material for wound dressing purposes.

      • THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL AGILITY IN DIGITAL INNOVATION: A RELATIONAL PERSPECTIVE

        Sabrina Thornton,Desir?e Holm,Martin Johanson,David S?rhammar 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07

The unbounded nature of digital innovation requires innovating firms to be agile in the way they manage the processes, governance and outcomes in order to sense and seize the market directly and timely. This study adopts an inter-organizational approach and asks to what extent and in what way does organizational agility impact on innovation performance? This perspective underscores the interdependencies between collaborating partners, which creates a relationship regulating system of workflow to drive value creation in the process of innovation. While the literature has offered a broad conceptual argument for organizational agility in the context of digital innovation, the mechanisms through which value is transformed in the innovation process is still unclear. We contend that an agile innovation process stands on four main cornerstones: (1) joint strategic planning, (2) joint problem solving, (3) joint improvisation and (4) community (market) sensing. The empirical research is set in the video game industry, which is in a largely digitalized and borderless business environment. The data was collected through an interviewer-administered questionnaire. The sampling frame is based on a Swedish trade association database. Usable sample is 113. We performed structural equation modelling to test the hypothesized model, including main and moderation effects, using Mplus. The findings show that while only improvisation has a significantly positive effect on innovation performance, the role of strategic planning and problem solving between two collaborating partners remains unclear. For example, strategic planning has shown to be a negative influence in our empirical research. Problem solving has no effect on innovation performance, but it interacts with community sensing and subsequently facilitates innovation outcome. This highlights the importance of community sensing, which could offer rich, crucial knowledge and resources for problem solving that proves to be effective. The results provide further theoretical arguments for understanding organizational agility and digital innovation, but also raise further questions for future research.

Comparison of different nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for cesarean section: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

        Murdoch Iona,Carver Anthony L,Sultan Pervez,O’Carroll James E,Blake Lindsay,Carvalho Brendan,Onwochei Desire N.,Desai Neel 대한마취통증의학회 2023 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.76 No.6

Background: Cesarean section is associated with moderate to severe pain and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly employed. The optimal NSAID, however, has not been elucidated. In this network meta-analysis and systematic review, we compared the influence of control and individual NSAIDs on the indices of analgesia, side effects, and quality of recovery. Methods: CDSR, CINAHL, CRCT, Embase, LILACS, PubMed, and Web of Science were searched for randomized controlled trials comparing a specific NSAID to either control or another NSAID in elective or emergency cesarean section under general or neuraxial anesthesia. Network plots and league tables were constructed, and the quality of evidence was evaluated with Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) analysis. Results: We included 47 trials. Cumulative intravenous morphine equivalent consumption at 24 h, the primary outcome, was examined in 1,228 patients and 18 trials, and control was found to be inferior to diclofenac, indomethacin, ketorolac, and tenoxicam (very low quality evidence owing to serious limitations, imprecision, and publication bias). Indomethacin was superior to celecoxib for pain score at rest at 8–12 h and celecoxib + parecoxib, diclofenac, and ketorolac for pain score on movement at 48 h. In regard to the need for and time to rescue analgesia COX-2 inhibitors such as celecoxib were inferior to other NSAIDs.Conclusions: Our review suggests the presence of minimal differences among the NSAIDs studied. Nonselective NSAIDs may be more effective than selective NSAIDs, and some NSAIDs such as indomethacin might be preferable to other NSAIDs.
