붓다와 크리슈나무르티(Krishnamurti)의 철학적 공통기반

세 가지 측면에서 붓다와 크리슈나무르티의 가르침이 공통적인 토대를 찾아 논의하였다. 첫째, 인위적인 권위를 부정하고 있다. 붓다는 마지막 유훈에서 승가라는 조직의 존속에 염려하지 말고 자신의 내면 수행에 전 념할 것을 권고하면서 외적인 권위를 부정하고 있다. 크리슈나무르티도 교주에 대한 신도의 맹목적인 순종은 더 많은 문제를 일으킨다고 보고 있다. 자신을 인류의 스승(the World Teacher)으로 여기는 ‘동방의 별 교단(The Order of the Star in the East)’을 해산한 것은 크리슈나무르 티는 인적인 권위 부정을 보여주는 것이다. 둘째, 자유로운 탐구 자세를 강조하고 있다. 붓다는 자신의 가르침마저도 두들겨 조사해 보듯이 개개 인이 검증해야 한다고 가르치고 있다. 자신에 대한 존경심이나 기타 이 유로 붓다의 말씀을 믿는 것은 바람직하지 않으며 스스로 자증(自證)하 는 것을 중시하였다. 크리슈나무르티는 진리 탐구의 여로에서 먼저 모든 관념과 지식에서 자유로워야 한다고 가르치고 있다. 특정 목표를 미리 예상하고 추구하는 것이나 과거의 지식을 짊어지고 가는 것은 참된 새로 운 진리를 발견하지 못한다고 강조하고 있다. 셋째, 사고의 한계를 지적 하고 있다는 점이다. 붓다는 생각(vitakka)을 두 가지 차원에서 분석하고 있다. 세속적인 차원에서 생각은 선한 생각과 악한 생각으로 분류된다. 욕심의 생각, 성냄의 생각, 해침의 생각은 대표적인 악한 생각으로 자신 과 타인을 해치는 결과를 초래한다고 분석하고 있다. 붓다는 선한 사고 도 지혜의 성취를 위해 제거되어야 한다고 가르치고 있다. 선한 사고도 깊은 선정을 위해 사라져야한다고 본 점에서 사고의 한계를 지적하고 있 는 것이다. 크리슈나무르티는 사고는 기계적인 반응으로 과거의 경험과 지식에 근거하고 있기 때문에 현재 진행 중인 인간 문제를 풀 수 있는 능력이 없으며 오히려 사고가 사라질 때 지성(intelligence)이 나타나 사 고의 한계를 극복할 수 있다고 주장한다. The present article discusses the common philosophical ground for both the teachings of Krishnamurti(1895–1986) and the Buddha's teachings. As Dr Rahula once pointed out, I contend that the Buddha and Krishnamurti have said substantially the same things. They both aim at human happiness free from sufferings caused by ignorances. I discussed four common points between the Buddha and Krishnamurti. The essence of Krishnamurti’s teachings on insight shows remarkable parallels with the crux of teachings of the Buddha. First, as for an authority, Krishnamurti addresses for a complete inward revolution of the mind, a new mind is not to be a slave to authority; a new mind is necessary also to discover for ourselves what is true and if there is a state of creativity beyond time. For the Buddha, the key to liberation is mental purity and correct understanding, and for this reason he rejects the notion that we can gain salvation by leaning on any external authority. Throughout his ministry he urged his disciples to “be islands to yourselves, be refuges to yourselves, without looking to any external refuge.” Second, as for the way of seek after truth, Krishnamurti says that process of enquiry is to discover truth for oneself. Most of us are second-hand people; we have lived on what we have been told, we have been compelled to accept a conditioned way of life. When the mind is utterly free from every form of authority - whether it is the authority outwardly of the church, or the priest, or doctrine, belief dogmas, rituals, or the authority of one's own experience, then the mind is in a state of constant enquiry, and therefore it is free from illusion. Since wisdom or insight is the chief instrument of enlightenment, the Buddha always asked his disciples to follow him on the basis of their own understanding, not from obedience or unquestioning trust. He invites inquirers to investigate his teaching, to examine it in the light of their own reason and intelligence, and to gain confirmation of its truth for themselves. The Dhamma is said to be personally understood by the wise, and this requires intelligence and sustained inquiry. Third, as for limitations of thought, Krishnamurti contends that thought is memory and memory is accumulated responses and so thought is always conditioned. Thought is mechanical, tied to the centre of its own knowledge. Thought is centered around the idea of ‘me’ and ‘self’. Thought builds its own prison and lives in it, whether it’s in the future or in the past. The thought, which has created the problems cannot resolve those problems that it has itself brought forth. The Buddha shows negative side of thinking; a person becomes a victim of his/her own patterns of thinking. Based on what a person papañcizes, the perceptions & categories of papañca assail him/her. The blame for suffering lies within, in the unskillful habits of thinking, rather than without.

MBCT(Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, 비파사나 명상에 기초한 인지치료) 프로그램의 치유원리

비파사나 명상에 기초한 인지 치료(Mindfulness- Based Cognitive Therapy: MBCT) 는 초기불교의 명상 수행과 서양의 인지 치료를 접목한 새로운 방식의 치료법으로 우울증의 재 발 방지에 효과적으로 적용되고 있다.2) MBCT는 영국 정부의 보건기관인 National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE)에 의해 효과적인 치료법으로 공인 받고 있다. 근자엔 한국에 서도 MBCT를 임상에 적용하려는 시도가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 본고에서는 불교의 관점 에서 MBCT의 치유원리와 그 특징을 초기불교 경전과 관련하여 연구하고자 한다. MBCT는 서구의 인지치료 이론과 초기불교의 비파사나 명상 수행을 결합한 것으로 불교적인 요소가 핵심적으로 차지하고 있으면서 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 우울증 재발 방지에 탁월한 효과가 있다는 것이 임상적으로 밝히는 논문은 다수 있지만 그 치유 원리에 대해선 아직 불교적인 시각에서 치밀한 연구가 이루어지고 있지 않다. 본고는 이러한 점을 보완하고자 불교 문헌을 중심으로 MBCT의 치유법의 원리와 그 특징을 고찰하고자 한다.

비산회에 함유된 잔류 혹은 미연소된 탄소분을 회수하고, 이 미연탄소분의 물리·화학적 특성을 조사하였다. 이연탄소분이 농축된 시료는 비산회를 정제하기 위해 사용되는 부선법을 사용하여 얻었다. 얻은 미연탄소분 시료가 함유하는 탄소분의 총량과 공업 분석을 하였다. 회수된 탄소분에 잔류된 회의 양과 화학조성도 분석하였다. 이외에 탄소분의 크기 분포, 표면적, 기공의 크기, 결정 구조 및 밀도 등과 같은 물성을 측정하였다. Tile pl~ysimchemical properties of residual or unburned carbon obtaincd from fly ash were mestigated. The carbon-enrichcd samples were extracted from fly ash by flotalion mcthod. Tnz carbon content and chemical compos~lion of t b recovered carbon sample were analyzed. The ash in the carbon sample was also examined. The unburned carbon characterization included measurement oE sire distibution, sudace area, crystal shuchlre md density.
