Ragweed pollen is one of the important allergenic source in Korea. The positive skin test results to ragweed pollen allergens have been reported to be about 10.0% in respiratory allergy patients. To study the characterisucs of ragweed-sensitive asthmatic patients, bronchoprovocation tests with Korean ragweed pollen extracts(1 : 20 w/v) were performed in 24 asthmatic patients sensitized to ragweed pollen and their clinical findings were observed. Eleven(45 %) out of them had positive challenges(5 early, 5 isolated late and 3 dual responses). Symptomatic aggravation in autumn season was noted in three of five early responders. Ragweed-specific serum IgE were detected in nine out of the 11 patients with positive challenges. Bronchoprovocation tests with other aeroallergens were performed in cases with strong positive responses on skin prick test to house dust mites, cat fur and/or mugwort. Nine out of the 11 patients who had positive challenges with ragweed extracts showed positive bronchial challenge responses to house dust mite, cat fur and/or mugwort. There were two cases who showed positive
