Theory is the worldview that guides the intellectual questions pursued by each discipline. Pluralism in nursing theories is desirable and inevitable for the development of nursing science. Therefore an exploration of existing theories based on well-defined criteria is essential for enhancing the utility of theory and for continuing the development of the discipline. Meleise's model provides criteria for theory description, analysis, and critique in an attempt to decrease the margin of subjectivity and to enhance that of objectivity. Objective evaluation enhances constructive changes and further theory development. As an alternative to the traditional practice of nursing, Parse sets forth a different paradigm that rooted in the human sciences. Nursing, rooted in the human sciences, focuses on man as a living unity and man's qualitative participation with health experiences. Grounded in the human sciences, Parse synthesizes Martha E Roger's Principles and concepts about man with major tanets and concepts from existential-phenomenological thought to create an emergent conceptual system. Evaluation of the most recent nursing theory will give comprehensive understanding of the theory and shed new lights on the discipline of nursing.

Neurofibromatosis, or von Recklinghausen's disease, is a hereditary, harmartomatous disorder that primarily involves neuroectoderm and mesoderm. The estimated incidence is 1in 2,500 to 3,000 births. The clinical features are skin manifestations such as cafe-au-lait spots, skeletal manifestations primarily involving vertebrae, central and peripheral nervous manifestations, and other associated abnormalities with increased risk of malignancy. The authors analysed the radiolgic findings of 18 cases of patients with neruofibromatosis who visited Pusan Kosin Medical Center and Taegu Donsan Medical Center during the last five years. All were proven by surgery, biopsy and other diagnostic criteria. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The male to female ratio was 11 :7 and the age ranged from 11 months to 51 years. 2. All the cases fulfilled the diagnostic criteria of Crowe and associates. 3. one manifestations were present in 44% of the cases. The other radiologic findings were intrathoracic meningocele, bilateral acoustic neurinomas. mediastinal or chest wall mass shadows, and peripheral soft tissue masses. 4. One of the soft tissue masses was proved to be malignant.

Water temperature is one of the most important factors of fish survival, affecting the habitat, migration route, development, and reproduction. This experiment studied the induction level of heat shock protein (HSP70) mRNA and protein in a walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) primary hepatocyte culture based on different temperatures. Hepatocytes were attached at 7.5℃ for 24 hours. Hsp70 induction levels were then measured for 48 hours at 5, 8, 11, 14, and 17℃. The induction level was lowest at 5℃ and generally increased with temperature until 14℃. The induction level was reduced at 17℃, indicating that 14℃ is the highest tolerable temperature for hepatocytes. These data indicate that primary hepatocyte cell culture is under no stress at 5 and 8℃. Temperatures greater than 11℃ induce stress, showing similar induction patterns in both mRNA and protein in hepatocytes. The results suggest that 14℃ is the maximum internal defense temperature of walleye pollock survival.
