This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics and concentrations of ammonia produced from the livestock swine manure treated with mixed microorganisms. Odor generating device was made by volume of about 1.12 L for sampling ammonia odor. When swine manure was placed in reactor, average concentration of ammonia was about 310 ppmv out of the range from 295 ppmv to 340 ppmv. Removal efficiencies showed 48% to 73% after 24 hr as compared to initial level before spraying. The persistence of efficiency in two treatments (2 and 5) were 66.7% and 55.9%, respectively that retained for the first seven days. Among the mixed microorganisms, the treatment 2 (mixed microorganisms) showed the best efficiency of 63.3% to 86.7%. To evaluate the effects of 5 kinds of spray mixed microorganisms, the experiments were conducted and based spray treatments without spray mixed microorganisms on swine manure. Swine manure were subjected to a 7-day reactors in which the effects of the spray mixed microorganisms on the ammonia emission were compared. The ammonia gas emission was measured for every day. Ammonia emission from the swine manure with the spray mixed microorganisms was lower than that of the manure in the control treatment (without spray mixed microorganisms). In ammonia removal efficiencies of the experimental groups, some mixed microorganisms showed from 55.9% to 86.7% removal efficiencies throughout the entire period as compared to the control group. On the other hand, initial reduction of ammonia in some treatments (mixed microorganisms) was effective temporarily.

Durability test of commercial polymer electrolyte membranes investigated because longer performance of VRFB depends on the membrane's chemical stability. For hydrolytic stability test, distilled water and membrane was placed in the pressurized container, activated for 24 h at 200 degrees C to check the weight loss, and distilled water's pH change. To confirm the chemical degradation, the membrane was impregnated in 0.1 M V(V) solution for 72 h and concentration change was measured by UV-vis Spectrum. Through this experiment, anion exchange membrane in VRFB is considered in terms of chemical degradation.

To test the effect of different carbohydrate sources, wheat flour, used as the carbohydrate source in the control diet, was replaced with 30% glucose, 30% maltose, 30% cellulose or 30% $\alpha$-starch. After feeding trial for 8 weeks, no significant differences were found in growth and proximate composition of edible fraction of the snail fed diets containing different carbohydrate sources. All the tested carbohydrates are shown as good dietary carbohydrate source.

The most frequently reported hematologic AE of grade ≥3 was a decrease in neutrophils, with 6.6% of the patients developing neutropenia. In non‐hematologic AEs of grade ≥3, the most common were infection with unknown absolute neutrophil count and death not associated with Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) (4.7% each). The most common SAE reported was death, not associated with CTCAE (7.3%).

Conclusions

In Korean patients, the weekly regimen of docetaxel monotherapy was safe and efficacious against advanced NSCLC.

ABSTRACTBackground:
The National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke-Canadian Stroke Network (NINDS-CSN) 5-minute neuropsychology protocol consists of only verbal tasks, and is proposed as a brief screening method for vascular cognitive impairment. We evaluated its feasibility within two weeks after stroke and ability to predict the development of post-stroke dementia (PSD) at 3 months after stroke.
Method:
We prospectively enrolled subjects with ischemic stroke within seven days of symptom onset who were consecutively admitted to 12 university hospitals. Neuropsychological assessments using the NINDS-CSN 5-minute and 60-minute neuropsychology protocols were administered within two weeks and at 3 months after stroke onset, respectively. PSD was diagnosed with reference to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association statement, requiring deficits in at least two cognitive domains.
Results:
Of 620 patients, 512 (82.6%) were feasible for the NINDS-CSN 5-minute protocol within two weeks after stroke. The incidence of PSD was 16.2% in 308 subjects who had completed follow-up at 3 months after stroke onset. The total score of the NINDS-CSN 5-minute protocol differed significantly between those with and without PSD (4.0 ± 2.7, 7.4 ± 2.7, respectively; p < 0.01). A cut-off value of 6/7 showed reasonable discriminative power (sensitivity 0.82, specificity 0.67, AUC 0.74). The NINDS-CSN 5-minute protocol score was a significant predictor for PSD (adjusted odds ratio 6.32, 95% CI 2.65-15.05).
Discussion:
The NINDS-CSN 5-minute protocol is feasible to evaluate cognitive functions in patients with acute ischemic stroke. It might be a useful screening method for early identification of high-risk groups for PSD.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation to mammalian skin is known to alter cellular function via generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), DNA damage and DNA lesions, such as pyrimidine dimmers and photoproducts, which could lead to DNA mutation if they are not repaired. In this study, we have investigated the reduction of DNA damage and of apoptosis with a particular attention to genetic effect of paeoniflorin in Normal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (NHEK). After UVB irradiation from $10\;to\;500mJ/cm^{2}$ to NHEK, Mean Tail Moments (MTM) were increased with UVB dose increase. The greatest amount of strand breaks was induced at $500mJ/cm^{2}$ of UVB. Even at the lowest dose of UVB ($10mJ/cm^{2}$), change in MTM was detected (P<0.0001). Pretreated cell with 0.1% paeoniflorin maximally reduced the level of DNA damage to about 21.3%, compared to untreated cell. In the lower concentrations less than 0.01% of paeoniflorin, MTM had a small increase but paeoniflorin still had reductive effects of DNA damage. We measured the apoptosis suppression of paeoniflorin with annexin V flous staining kit. As we observed under the fluorescence microscopy to detect apoptosis in the irradiated cell, the fluorescence intensity was clearly increased in the untreated cell, but decreased in treated cells with paeoniflorin. These results suggest that paeoniflorin reduces the alteration of cell membranes and prevents DNA damage. Therefore, the use of paeoniflorin as a free radical scavenger to reduce the harmful effects of UV lights such as chronic skin damage, wrinkling and skin cancer can be useful to prevent the formation of photooxidants that result in radical damage.

The symmetry around a Dy ion is recognized to be a crucial parameter dictating magnetization relaxation dynamics. We prepared two similar square-antiprismatic complexes, [Dy(L-OMe)(2)(H2O)(2)](PF6) (1) and Dy(L-OMe)(2)(NO3) (2), where L-OMe = [CpCo{P(O)(O(CH3))(2)}(3)], including either two neutral water molecules (1) or an anionic nitrate ligand (2). We demonstrated that in this case relaxation dynamics is dramatically affected by the introduction of a charged ligand, stabilizing the easy axis of magnetization along the nitrate direction. We also showed that the application of either a direct-current field or chemical dilution effectively stops quantum tunneling in the ground state of 2, thereby increasing the relaxation time by over 3 orders of magnitude at 3.5 K.
