A Compositional Semantic Analysis of Plurality and Distributivity
Sei-Rang Oh 한국생성문법학회 2018 생성문법연구 Vol.28 No.3
Oh, Sei-Rang. 2018. A Compositional Semantic Analysis of Plurality and Disyributivity. Studies in Generative Grammar, 28-3, 489-512. This paper discusses a recent analysis of distributivity proposed by de Vries (2017), which assumes that quantificational distributivity (D-operator based distributivity) and lexical distributivity should exist together in the semantic system. Specifically, de Vries argues that the interpretive pattern of group noun constructions is explained by a lexical approach assuming that their interpretations can be captured using pseudo-equivalences, with a pragmatic factor implemented in the framework. This paper points out that there are group noun constructions in Korean whose interpretive pattern cannot be easily explained by such a lexical analysis, and suggests an alternative, structural analysis to derive the available interpretations. The proposed analysis assumes that distributivity of the group noun constructions is based on the presence of a D-operator at LF and its interactions with other arguments in the sentence, and shows that it has an advantage over a lexical analysis in that it can adequately capture the puzzling interpretations in a compositional manner.
Left Branch Extraction in Multiple Fragments and Its Implications for Island Violations in Korean
Bum-Sik Park,Sei-Rang Oh 한국언어학회 2016 언어 Vol.41 No.1
Park, Bum-Sik & Oh, Sei-Rang. 2015. Left Branch Extraction in Multiple Fragments and Its Implications for Island Violations in Korean. Korean Journal of Linguistics, 41-1, 1-18. In this paper, we investigate the restricted distribution of fragments that undergo Left Branch Extraction (LBE). As observed by Park and Kim (2015a), in multiple fragments only the final fragment can be LBEed. We argue that the restricted distribution is observed because LBE induces a PF-effect on the intervening element between the LBEed fragment and the Left Branch Island. In multiple fragments, the non-final LBEed fragment always involves the configuration where the final fragment counts as a surviving intervenor after ellipsis takes place in PF. By contrast, appearing in the final position, the final fragment can be LBEed with the potential intervenors eliminated under ellipsis, giving rise to a repair effect. The analysis partially supports Fox and Lasnik (2003), but not Merchant (2008) or Chomsky (1972), in the sense that certain illegitimate movement has a PF effect on the intervening element. Examining interactions between LBE and relative clause island, we also provide an account for a certain asymmetry regarding the island-(in)sensitivity. Urban parks were used as places that people can take a rest and enjoy the natural environment and scenery in the past. But the started to be changed and individualized by human activities in them. And the urban parks in suburbs are not only a public pleasure resort that people take a good rest; now they are used for more various purposes and as a place of education. history. culture landscape and ecology. During the process of urban planning and development under the rapid industralization and urbanization. various species and urban forest valuable enough to be preserved are disturbed. damaged and destroyed so that the opportunities of citizens to be friendly with nature are getting rarer. In he case of Kunsan City. there seems to be no ecological space in the parks. We have o intensity connection of green area line between main park of Kun-san city and have to endow the park situation and division of skill with a relationship connection through the positive formation of neighborhood park and reasonably based on Biotop. From he survey of kunbong Neighborhood Park. a spot of the green-belt located in the north-east suburb of Kunsan City. this study will suggest a detailed plan of a desirable ecological park on the purpose of preserving and restoring natural eco-system.

In recent years there has been a growing interest in all forms of rotational therapy and many different types of therapy machines designed for this kind of treatment have become available. To the medical radiation physicist, the dosimetry of rotation therapy has presented a number of interesting problems, and much useful work has been published on the basic data of dose distribution and dosage calculation. The setting dose for ARC therapy were obtained by computer calculation and measurement with cylindrical phantom. Authors compared computer calculation with measured value. And in ARC therapy, the region of maximum dose is shifted from the tumor center. The extent of shift was analyzed by isodose distribution for ARC therapy techniques.

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the formation of a contract which is defined as an agreement enforceable by the law between two or more persons to do or abstain from doing some act or acts, their intention being to create legal relations and not merely to exchange mutual promises, and to examine and analyze the discharge of a contract that means that the partiesare freed from their mutual obligations. The research method used in this study was a bibliographical search of the material available. An analytical approach was also used to the cases occouring in parctice of international trade. The body of this study is divided into three sections. The first section deals with problems which could be raised on the formation and discharge of CIF contracts. The second section deals with the various methods of an acceptance, and the time of formation. The third section deals with the discharge of contract. The following are the conclusions: (1) The person who accepts must have seen the offer. (2) The acceptance must be absolute and unconditional, otherwise the parties could not be the same, and made in the manner and form prescribed in the terms of the offer. (3) The acceptance must be made either within the time stipulated or within a reasonable time. (4) If the offer is made to a specified person it can be accepted only by that person. (5) The basic rule is that the offeree must communicate his acceptance to the offeror, since otherwise the offeror can not know whether he is bound by this offer. (6) A counter is a rejuction of the original offer and has the effect of cancelling the original offer. (7) If the offeror has not stipulated a method of acceptance the offeree may choose his own method, though where acceptance is by word of mouth it is not enough that it be spoken, it must actually be heard by the offeror. As regards the use of the telephone and teleprinter, these are methods of instantaous communication and it has been held that the contract is not complete unless the offeror hears the acceptance. (8) In case of mail, acceptance is deemed complete when the letter of acceptance is posted. (9) The discharge of a contract means in general that the parties are freed from their mutual obligations. A contract is discharged in four ways: by agreement, by performance, by breach, and by frustration. Where the breach is anticipatory the aggrieved party may sue at once for damages.

In short, the spirit of consensus that had developed in UNCITRAL was maintained to the end of the diplomatic conference. This was resulted from the refining processes of int'l collaboration. The most powerful forces towards eliminating awesome relics of the dead past also were intrinsic to the process of int'l collaboration. 5) CISG leaves much to be desired in flexibility and development 6) CISG is the one and only uniform law on contracts for int'l sale of goods. Therefore, we must keep in mind two principles that will seem banal: legislation calls for on approach to interpretation that is consistent with its character and purpose, and CISG has a very special function to replace diverse domestic rules with uniform int'l law. So it is very important to interpretate CISG according to Article 7.
