Statistical approaches for analysis of data from the limited number of samples in ship building industry(SBI) collected by an industrial hygienist for checking compliance to an occupational standard were considered. Sampling for com-pliance usually has been guided by judgment selection, rather than true randomness, resulting in the creation of compliance samples which approximate a censored sample from the upper tail of the exposure distribution. Similar exposure groups(SEGs) including welding and painting process were established to assess representative values in each groups after reviewing the whole production line in SBI. For the convenient statistical approaches, the code has assigned to each SEGs. The descriptive statistics and probability plotting were used to yield the representative values in each SEGs. In the first step, SEGs of 558 were established from 5 ship building companies, The 38 SEGs showed the uncertainty are divided into each 5 companies and assessed the repre-sentative values again. The 44 SEGs in each companies was not showed the normal and lognormal distribution was analyzed each data. And also, recommendation was suggested to resolve the uncertainty in each groups.
PROSPECTS FOR OPENING IN NORTH KOREA AND INTER-KOREAN ECONOMIC COOPERATION

North Korea's policy of opening can be viewed as a product of the trade-off between economic efficiency and systemic stability. Historically, the policy has aimed at securing foreign exchange earnings by opening specified areas without allowing any significant challenges to the regime. To the disappointment of leaders in Pyongyang, much of these efforts have born little fruit. However, inter-Korean economic cooperation-one important element of the opening policy-has consistently expanded. With this, inter-Korean trade has increased, fostering greater mutual dependency. Yet from an economic standpoint, such cooperation appears less attractive for South Korea. And despite the few suggested benefits for engaging in inter-Korean economic cooperation projects, prospects for further opening in North Korea hold limited optimism, as the North is expected to continue to pursue a policy of "quarantined, belated opening without real reform." This article aims to provide a review of North Korea's past and present opening policies, emphasizing the situation where North Korea was unable to follow a line of gradual opening as seen in China or Vietnam. It is this special factor that has prevented North Korea from reaping greater gains from the opening process.
Operability window of slot coating using viscocapillary model for Carreau-type coating liquids

Based on the simplified viscocapillary models for Newtonian and power-law coating liquids reported in Lee et al. (2011a), the one-dimensional (1-D) viscocapillary model for Carreau-type liquids containing zero-shear viscosity information has been developed for constructing the operability window in slot coating. Velocity distribution and position of upstream meniscus were numerically solved to determine onsets of leaking and bead break-up defects. The results obtained by 1-D model are quantitatively corroborated by two-dimensional (2-D) fluent calculations.

NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase is a ubiquitous enzyme that is known to directly reduce quinone substrates to hydroquinones by a two-electron reaction. We report the identification of NADPH quinone oxidoreductase from Kluyveromyces marxianus (KmQOR), which reduces quinone substrates directly to hydroquinones. The KmQOR gene was sequenced, expressed in Escherichia coli, purified, and characterized. The open-reading frame of the KmQOR gene consists of 1143 nucleotides, encoding a 380 amino acid polypeptide. The nucleotide sequence of the KmQOR gene was assigned to EMBL under accession number AT040868. The M, that was determined by SDS-PAGE for the protein subunit was about 42 kDa, and the molecular mass of the native KmQOR was 84 kDa, as determined by column calibration, indicating that the native protein is a homodimer. The KmQOR protein efficiently reduced 1,4-benzoquinone, whereas no activities were found for menadiones and methoxyquinones. These observations, and the result of an extended sequence analysis of known NADPH quinone oxidoreductase, suggest that KmQOR possesses a different action mechanism.
Impact of seasonal and geographical differences on breast cancer survival

Purpose: Seasonal and geographic variations in ultraviolet B intensities (UVB) impact the vitamin D status, and these differences might significantly affect cancer prognosis. This study evaluates the association between seasonal and geographic differences in UVB exposure and breast cancer survival. Methods: We divided Korea into two regions according to erythemally weighted annual UVB exposure as follows: Seoul and the southern region. Recurrence and death were also grouped into two seasons: spring/summer and autumn/winter. Results: The survival and relapse rates, when stratified by season of diagnosis, demonstrated no significant differences between spring/summer and autumn/winter. Among the 1,488 breast cancer patients in our cohort who demonstrated recurrence, 775 cases (52.1%) relapsed during the spring/summer and 594 patients (52.6%) died during the autumn/winter. In total, 6,178 patients (89.1%) and 3,909 patients (91.3%) in Seoul and the southern region survived (P=0.005). The relapse rate in the Seoul group (13.7%) was higher than the southern group (11.9%). By Kaplan-Meier analysis, there were no statistical differences between the Seoul and southern groups in terms of disease-free (P=0.43) and cancer-specific survival (P=0.18). In the Cox analysis, after the adjustment of all the other factors, season of diagnosis and residential area have no statistical significance. Conclusion: We conclude from our findings that death from breast cancer occurs more frequently in the autumn/winter, and that patients in the southern area of Korea demonstrate better survival. However, we find no significant relationship between geographic and seasonal variations in breast cancer survival.

Purpose: Although surgical resection is usually considered for a single tumor, several reports have suggested that resection can be considered for multiple tumors. The objective of this study was to determine whether resection could provide better long-term outcome for patients with multiple hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) within Milan criteria. Methods: A total of 276 patients with multiple HCCs within Milan criteria with liver function preserved who underwent resection, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), or transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) between 2009 and 2013 were analyzed. Propensity-score (PS) matching was conducted. Results: Five-year overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) were better in the resection group than that in the RFA or TACE group. Patients who underwent resection had more preserved liver function and different tumor characteristics compared to those received RFA or TACE. With similar baseline characteristics generated in the PS model, there was no difference in 5-year OS among 3 groups (79.5% vs. 72.3% or 62.0%, P = 0.232), but the 5-year RFS was better for patients who received resection than those who received RFA or TACE (51.9% vs. 22.0% or 0.0%, P < 0.001). Although the major complication rate was slightly higher than RFA or TACE, there was no significant difference between the 3 groups before and after PS matching. Conclusion: Resection was associated with better RFS than RFA or TACE and showed comparable OS in multiple HCC patients within the Milan criteria, but at a cost of slightly increased risk of complication. Resection can be considered as a first-line option if selected appropriately.
