        Characteristic of Soil and Cambial Electrical Resistance for Investigation on Defect Cause of Planting Tree in Apartment

        The purpose of this paper is to provide information on planting construction for healthy plant growth. To achieve this purpose, this study analyzed the planting type, planting density, withering rate, soil characteristics, and cambium electrical resistance (CER) of withered trees in an apartment complex with a high withering rate. The major plant groups examined consisted of native broad-leaved tree species (39.3%), native narrow-leaved tree species (24.2%), and native broad-leaved- exotic narrow-leaved tree species (16.4%). The planting density of the green area, where trees were planted from 0.0 to 0.3 trees per unit area, was measured as 98.4%. Withered trees were found in 19 of the 20 planted species, and the withering rate was 41.8% (610 withered/1,461 planted). Withering rates for tree species were measured as follows: Sophora japonica and Salix babylonica (100.0%), Magmolia denudata (84.3%), Lindera obtusiloba (74.7%), cornus kousa (69.3%), acer triflorum (69.2%), diospyros kaki (66.7%), Prunus yedoensis (62.8%), Acer palmatum (52.6%), Prunus armeniaca (51.1%), Chaenomeles sinensis (43.7%), Ginkgo biloba (40.9%), Zelkova serrata (31.0%), Cornus officinalis (28.6%), Taxus cuspidata (25.6%), Pinus densiflora (21.4%), Pinus parviflora (15.2%), Pinus strobus (14.6%), and Abies holophylla (10.3%). Soil chemical analyses for 18 samples revealed that as the withering rate increased, the following occurred: (a) the ratio of silt and clay in soil increased; (b) the soil pH, organic matter rate, nitrogen, available phosphorus, and cation exchange capacity (CEC) in samples were graded as “inadequate,” based on the plant grading evaluation; and (c) the NaCl and cation exchange capacity were evaluated as “somewhat satisfactory.” The measurement of CER for withering rate shows electrical resistance for higher withering rate are higher, which could predict that a tree will not grow well.

        This study aims to analyze the use of urban and natural environments in terms of life-supporting environments and their linkages with population density and urban development, and to provide guidelines for the use of natural environments in each local government. The procedure of the study is to understand the concept of life-supporting environment and analyze the characteristics of land use status in Gyeonggi-do, and to identify land use status and problems in Gyeonggi-do. First, we investigated and analyzed the land use status of the Gyeonggi-do region, where natural and urban environments coexist and are adjacent to the Seoul metropolitan area. Second, we investigated and analyzed the population density of each city in Gyeonggi-do. Third, we compared and analyzed the characteristics of land use status and population density in terms of life-supporting environment. As a result of the characterization, first, there is a need to maintain a clean city. Second, it is necessary to reduce the damage of the nimby phenomenon due to climate change and urban sprawl, and to lay the foundation for a sustainable city that is safe from disasters, where preservation and growth development are planned together. Third, it is necessary to prepare a smart city by collecting data and acquiring information that analyzes the connection between land use and population density, which is changing with advanced information and communication technology (ICT), and managing it efficiently to solve transportation problems, environmental problems, safety problems, housing problems, education, health and welfare services, and facility efficiency expansion in addition to the life-supporting environment caused by urban life. With these elements in place, it will be the city we want to live in, combining the advantages of urbanization and non-urbanization.

        서울지역 서어나무림의 군집구조 분석

        우리나라 온대지방 산림의 극상수종으로 알려진 서어나무는 도시화가 심각한 서울의 경우 3개의 군집이 분포하고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 희귀하게 분포하는 서울지역 서어나무군집의 특성을 도출하고, 이를 바탕으로 서어나무군집의 관리대책을 마련하기 위한 기초자료 제공을 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구 대상지는 삼육대 지역, 도봉산지역, 진관동 지역의 3개소이다. 서울 지역 서어나무군집에 대한 군집구조 분석 및 토양특성, 수목 생장량 등을 조사·분석한 결과, 현재 남아있는 서어나무군집의 경우 토양 산성화 등으로 인해 생장 속도가 둔화되고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 산림내 외래종의 이입에 따른 식생교란도 진행되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 서울 지역에서 가장 넓은 서어나무군집이 분포하는 삼육대 지역의 경우 주변 참나무림에 참나무시들음병 피해가 발생하여 산림내부에 나지가 발생하고 있고 외래종의 이입속도가 더욱 빨라질 것으로 예상되고 있다. 또한 서어나무 자체도 참나무시들음병 매개곤충인 광릉긴나무좀의 피해를 받고 있어, 특별한 대책이 수립되지 않는 한, 향후 서어나무군집의 존립 자체가 불투명한 실정이다. 따라서 현재 남아있는 서어나무군집에 대한 정밀조사와 연차적인 모니터링 등과 같은 대책을 마련하여 서어나무군집 보전을 통한 서울지역 생물다양성 확보 방안의 추진이 필요하다. Carpinus laxiflora communities are known as the climax forest community of the temperate zone of Korea. There are three Carpinus laxiflora communities in Seoul. The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of Carpinus laxiflora communities of Seoul and supply basic data for establishing of a management plan. The research sites are Sahmyook University, Mountain Dobong and Jinkwandong. This study considers investigation and the analysis of communities structure, soil characteristics and the growth increment of trees. As the result of study, we could know that the growth increment of the Carpinus laxiflora trees of Seoul is decreasing recently because of soil acidification and so on. Also the vegetation disturbance is increasing because of naturalized plant. Oak wilt disease has appeared in the oak forest around Sahmyook University that is the largest Carpinus laxiflora communities area in Seoul. For that reason the open gap was appeared in forest, and the spread of naturalized plants has been increasing in the gap. Furthermore, the Carpinus laxiflora trees are affected by the Platypus koryoensis which is a kind of oak wilt disease. And so, Unless there is a specific management plan, the survival of Carpinus laxiflora communities are uncertain in Seoul. Therefore the management plan of Carpinus laxiflora communities is necessary such as precise investigation, annual monitoring, etc. For the conservation of the Carpinus laxiflora communities, it is necessary to establish the management plan of the biodiversity for Seoul area.
