        Case Reports : Novel Treatment of Neck Wrinkles with an Intradermal Radiofrequency Device

        Neck wrinkles commonly develop owing to the aging process. However, recently, the number of patients with neck wrinkles has been increasing. Also, an increasing number of young patients have presented with this condition, possibly because of the effect of the head-down posture that they adopt when using their computer or smartphone. We report two cases of young adults with a prominent neck wrinkle. In case 1, a 29-year-old woman with a neck wrinkle was treated with six intradermal radiofrequency (RF) procedures. Her neck wrinkle was significantly improved with the RF treatment. In case 2, a 32-year-old woman with a wrinkle and generalized light brownish tiny papules on the neck was treated with three intradermal RF procedures simultaneously with 30% glycolic acid peeling. Her wrinkle and skin tone were improved dramatically. We conclude that intradermal RF has a considerable efficacy for reducing neck wrinkles.         The Effects of Reducing Skin Wrinkles and Improving Skin Elasticity from Korean Radish Extract

        The radish skin and radish greens are an edible part of the radish. But they are removed before eating the radish and used as a byproduct or an animal feed material because of their tough and rough texture. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of supercritical heat-treated radish-extract on UV-induced HRM-2 wrinkled mouse animal model on anti-aging wrinkles. Supercritical heat-treated radish-extract was applied on the back of seven-weeks old HRM-2 mice. The effect of HRE on skin thickness, elasticity and wrinkle formation of the mice was observed by using UVB lamp to induce melanogenesis and wrinkle formation. As the result, increased depth of wrinkles was observed in the negative control group in comparison to the normal group. In contrast, decreased depth of wrinkles was observed in the radish-extract-free group compared to the negative control group. In the study of the effect of radish-extract on wrinkle-formation related gene expression and protein what protein expression, MMP-2 and MMP-9 gene expression significantly increased in the negative control group compared to the normal group. The gene expression reduced in dependence to the mass of radish-extract treated. Similar to quantitative results of mRNA expression, the expression of MMP-2 protein increased as a result of UVB-irradiation. The MMP-2 expression was inhibited in dependence to the mass of radish-extract treated. In conclusion, the supercritical heat-treated radish-extract has an effect on improving skin wrinkles not only when it is applied to the skin but also when orally ingested. Thus, it can be effectively used as a composition to health functional products. Therefore we can also conclude that radish a food that does not show any side-effects even upon long-term intake can reduce wrinkle formation as well as improve skin elasticity when taken regularly for a long period.

        주름 평가 소프트웨어 개발과 Cog형 봉합사의 피부 주름 개선 검증에 관한 연구

        고령화 사회의 진입과 더불어 인가의 평균수명이 연장됨에 따라 현대사회의 남성 및 여성의 외모에 대한 관심이 증가하여 가장 외면적으로 판단할 수 있는 것이 바로 얼굴의 주름이다. 이에 남녀를 불문하고 깨끗하고 주름이 없으면서 탄력성이 있는 건강한 피부를 갖기 위하여 사람들은 각종 시술을 받고 있는 추세이다. 시술 중 하나의 방법으로 리프팅 시술 방법이 많이 시행되고 있는데, 녹는실을 이용한 봉합사는 피하지방층에 주입하여 피부 속에 실을 고정할 수 있는 부위를 중심으로 비절개 형식으로서 피부 속으로 걸어 당겨주어서 리프팅을 시키는 방법이다. 이에 피부 주름 개선을 위한 Cog형 봉합사의 리프팅 효능을 검증하기 위하여 전임상 실험을 진행하였으며, Labview를 이용하여 주름 평가 프로그램을 개발하였다. 전임상 실험의 데이터는 봉합사 시술 후 8주째 측정 데이터를 사용하였으며, 대조군의 시술 전 개체들이 평균 주름의 깊이는 4.15mm이었고, 8주가 지난 시점 대조군의 노화 진행으로 인하여 8.88mm로 주름의 깊이가 깊어졌다. 반면 봉합사 시술을 시행한 실험군은 시술 전 주름의 깊이는 6.4mm이었고, 봉합사 시술 후 8주차에는 주름의 깊이가 5.66mm로 감소한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. With the entry of an aging society, the average life span of accreditation has been extended. Therefore, interest in the appearance of men and women in modern society has increased. It is the wrinkles of the face that can judge the most outwardly. People tend to have various kinds of treatments to have a clean, wrinkle-free and resilient healthy skin regardless of sex. There is a lot of practice of lifting procedures in one of the procedures. A suture using a melting thread is a method of lifting by squeezing it into the skin as a non-incision type centering on a region where the thread can be fixed in the skin by injecting it into the subcutaneous fat layer. To evaluate the lifting efficacy of Cog - type suture for the improvement of skin wrinkles, preclinical experiments were conducted. We developed a wrinkle evaluation program using Labview. Data from preclinical experiments were used at 8 weeks after suturing. The average wrinkle depth was 415.6 mm in the control group. At 8 weeks, the depth of wrinkles was deepened to 888.3mm due to the aging process of the control group. On the other hand, the depth of the wrinkles before surgery was 640.3 mm in the suture group. It was confirmed that the depth of wrinkles decreased to 566.5mm at 8th week after the suture operation.

        50대 여성의 얼굴 주름 개선에 관한 욕구 조사

        This study surveys to find out the psychological meaning of facial wrinkles in the life of women in their 50s and analyze their desires for the facial anti-wrinkle improvement. The results are as follows. 48% of them thought that they’ve aged now while looking at their facial wrinkles. 41 of them responded that their life expectancy was 80 to 85 yr of age. 77% of them responded that they hope their facial wrinkles disappear as many as they want, and 33% of them responded that they hope their face wrinkles decrease by about 50% on the basis of the current state. 31% of them responded that they can give up their life expectancy or some of their property if their face wrinkles disappear all or as many as they want. For an abandonable target at this time, 62% and 33% of them responded that they can give up their property and life, respectively. 64% of them responded that they can give up their life expectancy under 3. Many of them responded that they can give up their property of 7% on average. 84% of them responded that they will receive skin care if their face wrinkles disappear all or as many as they want through regular skin care every month. 26% of them responded that they will have confidence which seems to do if they do something when their face wrinkles disappear all or as many as they want. Consequently, for 31.2% of those surveyed, their facial wrinkles are a factor affecting diverse fields such as their looks, human relations, works, and psychological view.

        주름 개선을 위한 침 연구의 현황분석

        Objectives : The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of acupuncture and the details of acupuncture treatment methods on skin wrinkles. Methods : Search was conducted in Pubmed, KISS, and NDSL databases for acupuncture studies on skin wrinkles. The detailed therapeutic techniques of acupuncture used for skin wrinkles and the effect of acupuncture on skin wrinkle improvement were analyzed. Then, the study results using the same indicator were compared through meta-analysis in order to compare the effects of acupuncture with the control group. The quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was assessed using the risk of bias (ROB) assessment tool (Ver. 1.0, Cochrane Collaboration). Results : A total of 10 RCTs and 19 case series were included in this study. The most frequently used therapeutic technique for skin wrinkle improvement was Microneedle therapy system (MTS, n=19), and they were mostly used with aesthetic solutions (13 out of 19 studies). Skin wrinkle related indexes were most commonly used to evaluate skin wrinkle improvement (n=14). Panax Ginseng pharmacopuncture showed the most remarkable effect in improving the range of skin wrinkles and the depth of skin wrinkles. MTS+epidermal growth factor improved the levels of skin hydration, skin elasticity, and variation of skin pigment the most. MTS+Endothelial precursor cell improved the number of skin melanin the most. Three RCTs included in the meta-analysis showed moderate ROB on average. Conclusions : Acupuncture treatment was effective in improving skin wrinkles. However, a precise study design using unified indicators and appropriate controls needs to be performed in further studies in order to establish more convincing evidence of the effectiveness of acupuncture for improving skin wrinkles.

      • A prospective split-face comparative study of periorbital wrinkle treatments: Fractional erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser, intense pulsed light, and topical 0.1% tretinoin cream

        Background: A variety of modalities has been used to treat periorbital wrinkles, including topical creams, lasers, and light-based devices. Objectives: To investigate the efficacy and safety of 3 modalities for treating periorbital wrinkles: fractional erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG) laser, intense pulsed light (IPL),and topical 0.1% tretinoin cream. Methods: Nineteen subjects received either fractional Er:YAG laser treatment or IPL therapy for 3 months at 1-month intervals for the left periorbital wrinkles, and applied topical 0.1% tretinoin cream for the right periorbital wrinkles daily for 3 months. Japan Cosmetic Industry Association wrinkle score before and after the last treatment was assessed on photographs. Participants’ subjective satisfaction also was evaluated using a visual analog scale (VAS) and questionnaire. Results: At 12 week, mean wrinkle score on the IPL-treated side and Er:YAG lase-treated side decreased by 20.4% and 20.0%, while that on the 0.1% treatinoin cream applied side decreased by 21% and 26.8%. There was no significant difference among the modalities. Participants’VAS for satisfaction were equivalent for all 3 modalities, but there was a preference for topical tretinoin cream. Conclusion: Mild periorbital wrinkles can be responsive to topical tretinoin application. Because it is minimally invasive and convenient, we suggest that 0.1% tretinoin cream can be an effective and safe treatment modality for fine periorbital wrinkles in Asian women.

        주름 기법을 이용한 섬유제품 개발 - 누노펠트 기법 중심으로 -

        The purpose of this study was to explore the possibilities of new formability fibers by using wrinkle shape in wool felt technique and to suggest the development possibility of nuno felt fabric by developing products using it. Wrinkles are a formative element that can be seen in various forms in various fields of visual arts. In this research, however, wrinkles appearing in textile fashion field, which is commonly called pleats, were researched. In addition, research on wrinkles in textiles has shown that the three-dimensional form, which is a characteristic of wrinkles, gives rise to diversity in the texture of the material surface, which is likely to develop into a high-value-added industry with rich and original formative expression and artistry . The characteristic of Nuno felt wrinkle is that it is easy to combine with various other fibers compared to existing wrinkle processing, and it is possible to express a unique three- dimensional texture that is generated thereby. In order to present the possibility of wrinkle of Nuno felt as a textile material that can highlight the artistry in the textile industry, I have developed products focusing on fashion and household goods. As a result of research, it was found out that wrinkle processing in fashion and various fields is being used as a design for enhancing artistic expression and pursuing expression with the help of designers' products using wrinkles. Among the handicraft techniques that are difficult to mass-produce, the products with unique three-dimensional wrinkles expressed by the Nuno Felt technique are considered to be easy to satisfy consumers' desire to find differentiated products with various characteristics, and the development potential is also high. 본 연구의 목적은 양모펠트 기법 중 누노펠트 작업에서 나타나는 주름의 형태를 이용하여 새로운 조형성을 가지는 섬유의 가능성을 모색하고, 그것을 이용한 제품을 개발하여 누노펠트 직물의 발전 가능성을 제시 하고자하였다. 주름은 시각예술의 여러 분야에서 다양한 형태로 볼 수 있는 조형의 한 요소이지만, 본 연구에서는 통상적으로 플리츠라 불리는 것으로서 주로 섬유패션 분야에 나타난 주름을 조사 연구 하였다. 또한, 섬유 분야에서의 주름에 관한 연구를 통해 주름의 특성인 입체적 형태가 소재 표면의 질감에 다양성을 주어 풍부하고 독창적인 조형 표현과 예술성을 가진 고부가 가치 산업으로 발전할 가능성이 많음을 밝히고자 하였다. 누노펠트 주름의 특징은 기존 주름 가공에 비하여 다른 여러 가지 섬유와의 결합이 용이하고 그로인해 발생되는 독특한 입체적 질감 표현이 가능 하다는 것이다. 그리하여 섬유 산업에서 예술성을 부각시킬 수 있는 섬유 소재로서의 누노펠트 주름의 가능성을 제시해 보고자 패션과 생활용품 중심으로 제품 개발을 해 보았다. 연구결과 주름을 활용한 디자이너들의 상품 연구를 통해 현대에는 패션 및 다양한 분야에서 주름 가공이 개성 있는 표현 추구와예술성을 높이는 디자인으로 활용되고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 대량 생산이 어려운 수공예 기법 중 누노펠트기법으로 독특한 입체 주름이 표현된 제품들은 다양한 개성으로 차별화된 제품들을 찾는 소비자의 욕구를 충족하기에 용이하다고 여겨지며, 발전 가능성 또한 높을 것으로 생각된다.

        Influence of Drying Conditions on the Wrinkling of Fabrics

        Wrinkles are formed in fabrics because of mechanical action and the physicochemical effects of water and heatduring washing and drying processes. This study aims to identify the main drying conditions that affect the wrinkles byevaluating the smoothness appearance of various fabrics, under four different sets of drying conditions. It was found that thewoven fabrics that had a low degree of freedom of yarn movement wrinkled more easily than the knit fabrics. Furthermore,depending on the hydrophilicity of the fibers, the degree of wrinkling was influenced by the temperature and humidity duringthe drying process. In particular, synthetic fibers with low glass transition temperatures (Tg) wrinkled more significantly athigh drying temperatures. Wrinkles generated during the washing process could be partially removed by mechanical forceduring tumbling under the Heater and Heatpump(t) conditions. However, under the Heatpump(h) and Line Dry conditions,they tended to be fixed in drying processes with less or no applied mechanical force. Repeated washing and drying resulted inan increased degree of wrinkling in the hydrophilic laundry, particularly in the wool fabric, due to shrinkage and felting. Itcan be concluded that the drying temperature and mechanical force affect the formation of wrinkles. Wrinkle formation insynthetic fibers can thus be mitigated by controlling these factors, in consideration of the glass transition temperature of thefibers.
