        A poppet valve has better specification on responsibility and leakage than a spool valve. But poppet valve has disadvantage on fluid flow force because poppet lie on unstable suspension condition that is supported by mechanical spring and electro magnetic force. If poppet system is unstable in the valve, poppet raises system’s noise and decreases system’s responsibility. To avoid poppet’s bad affection, poppet valve has to analysis its stability when valve was designed. A poppet valve’s stability already had studied when its parameters were changed such as poppet’s shape, displacement, spring constant. This study concerns about mathematical model for poppet valve system that deals with fluid flow force. For this purpose, poppet valve’s flow force was induced by momentum theory on divergent flow condition. And induced flow force was imported on poppet’s motion equation.

        Design and performance characteristic analysis of servo valve-type water hydraulic poppet valve

        For water hydraulic system control, the flow or pressure control using high-speed solenoid valve controlled by PWM control method could be a good solution for prevention of internal leakage. However, since the PWM control of on-off valves cause extensive flow and pressure fluctuation, it is difficult to control the water hydraulic actuators precisely. In this study, the servo valve-type water hydraulic valve using proportional poppet as the main valve is designed and the performance characteristics of the servo valve-type water hydraulic valve are analyzed. Furthermore, it is demonstrated through experiments that a decline in control chamber pressure that follows the change of pilot flow is caused by the occurrence of cavitation around the proportional poppet, and that fundamental characteristics of the developed valve remain unaffected by the occurrence of cavitation.

        수소 압축기용 릴리프 밸브 모델링 및 성능해석에 관한 연구

        This paper presents a static and dynamic characteristics of the relief valve which is a kind of direct operated pressure control valve for hydrogen compressor. The valve is consisted of a main poppet, a spring, an adjuster and a valve body. The purpose of this study is development of the simulation model for relief valve by using commercial AMESIMⓇ tool. Poppet with sharp edge seat type and ball poppet with sharp edge seat type compare for P-Q characteristic. The dynamic simulation results are presented the operating pressure characteristics of relief valve. High pressure power unit of which maximum pressure control range is 100MPa was manufactured, and the pressure control valve was experimented using the above-mentioned power unit. The new model of pressure control valve from this results was suggested. It was confirmed that the suggested valve has a good control performance from experimental setup.

        평균분석을 이용한 설계변수가 포핏 밸브의 유동특성에 미치는 영향

        According to the structure, solenoid valve can be categorized as spool valve or poppet valve. While various research on spool valve which has simple structure and fine susceptibility to contamination has been conducted, poppet valve which has less susceptibility to contamination and advantage in a long time operation still need much research because of its complicated structure. In order to design the poppet valve, various parameters such as the diameter of the poppet, the angle of the poppet, the diameter of the disk, the spring stiffness, the spring preload and flow path structure should be considered. Conventional studies on poppet valve usually take only one design parameters and did not much focused on the effect of the parameters on flow characteristics. In this paper, the change of the flow characteristics according to the design parameters of the poppet valve for 3/2Way solenoid valve is analyzed. The previous studies and the results of initial model analysis was referred for the selection of the design parameters. The effects of design parameters on maximum pressure, minimum pressure, and pressure drop was examined using analysis of means(ANOM).

        An expansion valve for air conditioner is a type of flow control valve that is a combination of a stepping motor, reduction gears, a positioner and a poppet valve. The open area of the poppet valve is controlled by positioner which is also rotated in proportion to revolution of the stepping motor with reduction gears. In this study, the performance improvement strategies of the expansion valve for air conditioner were discussed. The effects of the nonlinearity and the hysteresis on the performance of the expansion valve were investigated through the experiment.

      • 드레인 오리피스를 갖는 포펫 밸브의 상대 안정도에 관한 연구

        The poppet valve had used every field area due to high quality of leakage property and response characteristic. But this valve still has terrible disadvantage that is self-exited vibration. This problem affects stability of total system and raises noise. The researcher tries to reduce that self-exited vibration when valve was designed. The stability discriminant is the typical study to improve the performance of the poppet valve. This paper concerns about stability discriminant that uses poppet valve with a drain orifice. At the first, the mathematical model is computed from poppet valve. After that, the limitation of stability is calculated that based on Nyquist criterion. At the final, the stability discriminant is selected in each condition and the graph that shows stability in the system is drown by dimensionless quantity.

        파일롯트 체크밸브의 크래킹 압력평가

        Pilot check valves were developed for use in crawler cranes, and the cracking pressure, which is a performancecharacteristic, was evaluated. A pilot check valve is a type of check valve that passes hydraulic oil in one directionand shuts it off in the reverse direction. The valve opens the poppet under the action of pilot pressure and passeshydraulic oil in the reverse direction. The main parts of the pilot check valve were a valve body, spool, retainer,poppet, seat, and spring. The verification of parts, the assembly, and the operating pressure were tested to evaluatethe cracking pressure of the pilot check valve. The pressure acting on the pilot check valve increases the supplypressure according to the conditions of the spool and poppet so that it can be understood intuitively as well asthrough test results. The results of the optimized cracking pressure and working pressure were confirmed throughpressure, oil leak, and operational tests. The effectiveness of the prototype was verified by confirming that thecracking pressure was 0.6 ± 0.05 MPa. The results of this study can be used as a basis for designing pilot checkvalves and evaluating the cracking pressures of various pilot check valves.

      • 전기체 구조시험을 위한 하중제한 밸브의 파일럿 포핏 설계 연구

        항공우주비행체 전기체 구조시험에 대해 시험체에 작용되는 과하중 방지를 위하여 사용되는 장치 중의 하나인 하중제한밸브의 작동 메커니즘을 분석하여 주요구성품인 파일럿 포핏밸브의 형상설계 기술을 고찰하였다. 파일럿 포핏밸브의 형상 결정하기 위해서 파일럿 포핏밸브가 개방되는 시점의 상태를 해석하여야 하고 파일럿 스테이지의 내부 구성품들에 대한 힘의 자유도 분석을 수행했다. 연구결과 파일럿 포핏의 형상 치수는 함께 통합되어 사용되는 유압작동기의 피스톤 면적비와 밀접한 관계가 유지되어야 함을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문에서는 대표적인 유압작동기들에 탐재된 제한밸브의 구성품들을 분해하고 치수 측정하여 본 연구에서 분석한 결과가 잘 일치함을 보였다. Operation mechanism of load limit valve(LLV) for protecting mechanically over load to test article of full-scale structural test is investigated to get what is important to design poppet valve in the load limit valve. The LLV is one of mechanical valves for the over load protection. The analysis is conducted through free body diagram for forces applying to components in the pilot at instant which valve is opening. As results of study, Geometry of the poppet valve must be related to piston area ratio of actuator integrated by the LLV. The analysis result is verified by measuring geometries of the poppet valve in LLVS which are attached to actuators.

      • 마이크로밸브 내부 유동장에 관한 수치해석적 연구

        Recently, development of micro valves that operate by compressed air has received significant attention in the fields of the micro fluid chip for medical applications or production lines of semi-conduct chip for electronic goods. Especially it is required that high-speed responsibility and lower power in optimal design of these micro valves. The primary objective of this study is to design and analyze a high-speed response, low power type pneumatic on-off micro valve. This study, in order to analyze the characteristics of the micro valve, shows the rheological characteristics of poppet flow field. Flow field characteristic analysis by changing the poppet stroke is investigated numerically using finite volume method. This computational analysis predicts optimal design variables and flow field visualization.

        The technology of on-off solenoid valves is now considered as a core technology in the fields of the production line of semi-conductor chips and the micro fluid chips for medical applications. And on-off solenoid valves, which operate by compressed air, are characterized by high speed response, great repeatability and that the pressure on the cross sectional area of poppet is kept constant regardless of the fluctuation of the pressure exerted on the ports. Especially it is required that high-speed responsibility and lower power in optimal design of these solenoid valves. The primary objective of this study is to design and analyze a high-speed response, low power type pneumatic on-off solenoid valve.
