      • Conceptual Framework for Mobile Device Product Line Security based on Internet of Thing

Regin Joy Conejar,Haeng-Kon Kim 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.7

Numerous technology devices have been propelled to explore the prospects of mobile devices. There is a growing demand to transform the existing PC-based software systems to mobile device platforms since mobile devices are low-cost compared for a PC, and their affordance, usability, and user-friendliness are such that they can theoretically counterpart or even replace traditional computer technology and mobile devices perform well using a lesser amount of memory than PC-based systems. Mobile device product lines are promising approaches for deriving and delivering custom-made applications to devices. In this paper, a conceptual framework for the mobile device product line is designed to create a strategic concept on how the mobile device delivers its application towards its users. It is designed to construct an interaction within the mobile application to its user devices. Mobile Device Product Line Security is a new concept, which appears with the Internet of Things (IoT) application in industry. This technology applied in production systems provides many benefits like better transparency or real-time information. This approach proposes a conceptual framework for IoT application in Production Systems Security. The aim of this framework is helping enterprises to identify the main elements to apply IoT in Mobile Device Product Line Security Systems.

모바일 복합 단말기 사용자 만족: 기대‐불일치 접근

        이승창,서응교 한국유통과학회 2012 유통과학연구 Vol.10 No.11

Purpose - Mobile devices, especially mobile terminals capable of telecommunication and wireless connectivity, are leading the advancements in consumer electronics. Digital convergence drives the functions of various devices, such as cellular phones, MP3 players, personal digital assistants, and gaming, into a single device. This trend would continue and applications such as digital audio and video streaming (including personalized content delivery mechanisms) would soon be on a handheld device. As customers want mobile convergence devices, manufacturers are driving new initiatives in the emerging mobile device market. Given the roles played by device design and service content in user satisfaction of a mobile convergence device, this study focuses on identifying and measuring the constructs for the process by which user satisfaction is achieved. This study synthesizes the expectation-disconfirmation paradigm with empirical theories in user satisfaction. Device and service levels are separated, and nine key constructs for user satisfaction of mobile convergence devices are proposed. Insight into this process could help web-based businesses to improve usersatisfaction, thus enhancing the effectiveness of e-commerce for sellers and buyers. Research design, data, methodology - This study draws on three users of mobile convergence devices as examples. To test theresearch model and hypotheses, survey questionnaires were sent to 607 mobile device users. Mobile device users were initially identified from several members, and subjects were randomly drawn. Data from 577 survey responses were finally analyzed. The unit of measurement and analysis in this research study is at a personal level. Results - The measurements for the constructs were developed and tested in a two-phase study. In the first phase, the device and service dimensions were identified, and instruments for measuring them were developed and tested. In the second phase, using the salient dimensions of the device and service as the formulating first-order factors, instruments were developed and empirically tested to measure satisfaction of the device and service. In measuring satisfaction of mobile convergence devices, the critical tasks are to identify the key constructs of such user satisfaction and to develop validated instruments to measure them. Hence, the results of this studyhave immediate implications for businesses and for research in user satisfaction of mobile convergence devices. Conclusions - This study provides reliable instruments for operationalizing key constructs in the analysis of user satisfaction of mobile convergence devices within the expectation-disconfirmation paradigm. Hence, convergence device makers will be able to examine whether their websites meet their customers’ expectations by examining the device aspect of the mobile convergence device customers, and the service aspect expectations and disconfirmation. Moreover, the introduction of expectation and disconfirmation constructs brings the marketing aspect of convergence devices into focus for such retailers, an aspect crucial to the effective design of websites for online businesses. In addition, this study provides the metrics required to initiate future studies on user satisfaction of mobile convergence devices.

The Effects of Consumer Preferences for Wireless Internet Services on the Demand for Mobile Devices

        Daeyoung Koh,Hyunseung Cho,Yoon-Ah Jo 한국마케팅과학회 2011 마케팅과학연구 Vol.21 No.3

Recently, smart phones such as the Galaxy S and IPhone, and tablet PCs such as the Galaxy Tab have been introduced and become widespread in the market, thus the environment for wireless Internet services has been improving. As the market has improved, consumer preferences for mobile devices and the relationship between these devices and wireless Internet services regarding consumer preferences have become a very important issue. However, although there have been a considerable number of studies on the demand for mobile devices, it is not easy to find previous studies on the relationship between consumer preferences for specific attributes of wireless Internet services and the demand for mobile devices. The main purpose of this study is to analyze which mobile device is more likely to be preferred or become the main channel for wireless Internet services and how the demand for each mobile device is influenced by consumer preferences for specific attributes of wireless broadband Internet services used on it, and to induce managerial implications based on the main findings. To derive the results on consumer preferences, conjoint analysis is used. The survey was conducted using 1,000 Korean consumers. In the survey, respondents are allowed to choose more than one hypothetical alternative representing a mobile device combined with a certain type of wireless broadband Internet service if they desired. To estimate the consumer preferences quantitatively, a multivariate probit model is used. According to the estimation results, owing to their portability, smart phones are more likely to become a major channel for wireless Internet services despite their drawbacks in terms of display size and performance. Portability is the most important factor affecting the choice of a mobile device when using wireless Internet services. Therefore, manufacturers of mobile devices for wireless Internet services should improve the overall functionality and performances of mobile devices without negatively affecting portability. However, at the same time, consumer preferences for specific attributes of wireless Internet services are found to affect the demand of each mobile device much differently. Therefore, the prediction that smart phones will be the prevalent mobile device for use of wireless Internet services can be somewhat changed, depending on which and how wireless Internet services are provided to each mobile device and how they affect the demand for each mobile device. As mentioned above, there are significant differences between mobile devices with regard to the effects of mobility, data transfer speed, type of contents or Internet interface for wireless Internet services. It is found that the mobility of wireless Internet service is highly valued for smaller devices, but not much for notebook PCs. In contrast, data transfer speed and similarities in the type of contents or Internet interface to those provided by fixed broadband Internet services become more important for larger mobile devices. Thus, it is necessary for wireless Internet service providers to differentiate and optimize their contents and Internet interfaces properly for various mobile devices. Additionally, it is reasonable that manufacturers of smart phones focus on mobility and portability (or convenience) rather than adding sophisticated functions or pursuing higher-level specifications. Further, for smart phones, for which mobility and convenience are important, wireless Internet service providers should develop and provide easy and convenient programs, rather than advanced programs that require high device performance. Lastly, with respect to individual demographics, young and highly educated people are more likely to be consumers of newly introduced mobile devices for using wireless Internet services. Therefore, these young and highly educated consumers should be considered a major target for manufacturers of mobile devices for wireless Internet services.

Discovering Mobile Applications in Cellular Device-to-Device Communications: Hash Function and Bloom Filter-Based Approach

Kae Won Choi,Wiriaatmadja, Dimas Tribudi,Hossain, Ekram IEEE 2016 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MOBILE COMPUTING Vol.15 No.2

<P>We propose a code-based discovery protocol for cellular device-to-device (D2D) communications. To realize proximity-based services such as mobile social networks and mobile marketing using D2D communications, each device should first discover nearby devices, which have mobile applications of interest, by using a discovery protocol. The proposed discovery protocol makes use of a short discovery code that contains compressed information of mobile applications in a device. A discovery code is generated by using either a hash function or a Bloom filter. When a device receives a discovery code broadcast by another device, the device can approximately find out the mobile applications in the other device. The proposed protocol is capable of quickly discovering massive number of devices while consuming a relatively small amount of radio resources. We analyze the performance of the proposed protocol under the random direction mobility model and a real mobility trace. By simulations, we show that the analytical results well match the simulation results and that the proposed protocol greatly outperforms a simple non-filtering protocol.</P>

        정은경,변영철,이상준 제주대학교 공과대학 첨단기술연구소 2003 尖端技術硏究所論文集 Vol.14 No.1

In this paper, we propose the design of the application server which provides internet services for the mobile devices such as a mobile phone and PDA, etc. The neutral form of mobile application which can be requested by various kinds of mobile devices is created and deployed to the proposed application server. The mobile application server supplies the content transformed according to the constraints and features of a mobile device. By using the server, a user can use many kinds of mobile devices at the same time, and only one session can be created and maintained at the server. The mobile application server is composed of the tree modules: Mobile Request Generator, Mobile Engine, and Environmental Adoptation module. The Mobile Request Generator module receives the mobile request from a mobile device and creates the mobile request information supplied to the Mobile Engine module. The Mobile Engine module processes the mobile application requested and creates a content which will be sent to a mobile device. The Environmental Adaptation module transforms the output of Mobile Engine into the contents that a mobile device can display. In this way, the proposed mobile application server can support various kinds of mobile devices using a neutral form of internet service.
