건축물의 적재가연물 특성은 성능위주 화재안전설계를 수행함에 있어 중요한 인자이다. 본 연구에서는 서점의 성능위주 화재안전설계에 이용할 목적으로 적재가연물을 대상으로 연소발열성상을 측정하기 위한 화재실험을 행하였다. 실험에서는 서적과 서가의 일부분을 재현한 시험체를 내화로에 넣고 ISO834 표준가열곡선에 따라 가열하여 화재 최성기에서의 연소성상을 파악하였다. 그 결과, 서적은 외부 가열을 받으면 표면연소 후에 탄화하여 주위에 고온이 형성되어도 열분해가스의 방출량이 증가하지 않는 것으로 파악되었다.
The Optimal Positioning Algorithm Based on RSSI of WiFi

The positioning system based on RSSI is extremely affected by the multipath transmission medium, the signal transmission and shadow. Even changing the angle of the antenna is likely to affect the ranging accuracy. In order to solve the problems above, this paper proposes an indoor optimal positioning algorithm based on Wi-Fi signal strength. It introduces positioning evaluation function, using the optimal algorithm to get a set of path loss exponent to improve the positioning accuracy. Experiment results show that the algorithm can obtain higher positioning accuracy without priori information of indoor environment or additional hardware investment.

Heat release characteristics of live fire load are an important parameter for performance oriented fire safety design of a building. While investigations have been carried out on the fire load and its burning behavior in office, residential and commercial buildings and so on, little effort has been paid for the rational treatment of fire load in post office buildings in Japan. In this report, burning behavior of typical combustible objects in post office buildings are studied by measuring heat release rates of plastic palettes with and without postal envelopes or packages and special containers loading numbers of palettes. The test results suggest that dynamic heat release rate is highly dependent on the condition of palettes especially if they load appropriate amount of postal envelopes or not.

Periostin (POSTN) Regulates Tumor Resistance to Antiangiogenic Therapy in Glioma Models

<P>Periostin (POSTN) interacts with multiple integrins to coordinate a variety of cellular processes, including epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cell migration. In our previous study, anti-VEGF-A therapy was associated with resistance and EMT. This study sought to determine the role of POSTN in the resistance of glioma stem cells (GSC) to antiangiogenic therapy. In mouse xenograft models of human glioma, POSTN expression was associated with acquired resistance to anti-VEGF-A therapy and had a synergistic effect with bevacizumab in prolonging survival and decreasing tumor volume. Resistance to anti-VEGF-A therapy regulated by POSTN was associated with increased expression of TGFβ1 and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF1α) in GSCs. At the molecular level, POSTN regulated invasion and expression of EMT (caveolin-1) and angiogenesis-related genes (<I>HIF1α</I> and <I>VEGF</I>-<I>A</I>) through activation of STAT3. Moreover, recombinant POSTN increased GSC invasion. Aims: The major malignant phenotypes of cancer, including recurrence, metastasis, and chemoresistance, are related to the presence of cancer stem cells (CSCs). Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM) is a type 1 transmembrane protein that is detectable in hepatic stem/progenitor cells and cholangiocytes. Natural killer (NK) cells are the prototype innate lymphoid cells endowed with potent cytolytic function that provide host defense against microbial infection and tumors. However, there are conflicting results: on the cytotoxicity of NK cells against cancer stem cells. In this study, we investigated whether NK cells exhibit enhanced or decreased cytotoxicity against EpCAM+ liver CSCs and the underlying mechanism of the phenomenon. Methods: EpCAM<sup>high</sup> and EpCAM<sup>low</sup> Huh-7 cells were sorted by flow cytometry. Human NK cells were isolated by magnetic sorting from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy donors. NK cell and hepatoma cells were co-cultured and cytotoxicity assay was performed. Immunohistochemical staining was performed using human HCC tissues obtained from surgical specimens from the patients who underwent liver resection. Results: Patients with positive EpCAM expression in their tumors showed higher serum α-fetoprotein levels and histological Ki-67 expression. The frequency of early and massive recurrence was higher in patients with positive EpCAM expression in their tumors. Co-culture experiment demonstrated that EpCAM<sup>high</sup> Huh-7 cells resisted NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity. We have screened the potential activating or inhibiting ligands of NK cell receptors, and identified that carcinoembryonic antigen cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1), which is known to inhibit NK-cell-mediated killing, was upregulated on the surface of EpCAM<sup>high</sup> Huh-7 cells. Silencing CEACAM1 restored cytotoxicity of NK cells against EpCAM<sup>high</sup> Huh-7 cells, suggesting that CEACAM1 is responsible for attenuated NK cell-mediated killing of these cells. Conclusions: Overall, our data clearly demonstrate that EpCAM<sup>high</sup> liver CSCs resist NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity by upregulation of cell surface CEACAM1 expression.
A Defect Detection Algorithm of Denim Fabric Based on Cascading Feature Extraction Architecture

Defect detection is one of the key factors in fabric quality control. To improve the speed and accuracy of denimfabric defect detection, this paper proposes a defect detection algorithm based on cascading feature extractionarchitecture. Firstly, this paper extracts these weight parameters of the pre-trained VGG16 model on the largedataset ImageNet and uses its portability to train the defect detection classifier and the defect recognitionclassifier respectively. Secondly, retraining and adjusting partial weight parameters of the convolution layerwere retrained and adjusted from of these two training models on the high-definition fabric defect dataset. Thelast step is merging these two models to get the defect detection algorithm based on cascading architecture. Then there are two comparative experiments between this improved defect detection algorithm and otherfeature extraction methods, such as VGG16, ResNet-50, and Xception. The results of experiments show thatthe defect detection accuracy of this defect detection algorithm can reach 94.3% and the speed is also increasedby 1–3 percentage points.

<P>Lipofuscin contains fluorophores, which represent a biomarker for cellular aging. Although it remains unsubstantiated clinically, experimental results support that the accumulation of lipofuscin is related to an increased risk of choroidal neovascularization due to age-related macular degeneration, a leading cause of legal blindness. Here, we report that a major lipofuscin component, A2E, activates the retinoic acid receptor (RAR). In vitro experiments using luciferase reporter assay, competitional binding assay, analysis of target genes, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay strongly suggest that A2E is a bona fide ligand for RAR and induces sustained activation of RAR target genes. A2E-induced vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in a human retinal pigment epithelial cell line (ARPE-19) and RAR antagonist blocked the up-regulation of VEGF. The conditioned medium of A2E-treated ARPE-19 cells induced tube formation in human umbilical vascular endothelial cells, which was blocked by the RAR antagonist and anti-VEGF antibody. These results suggest that A2E accumulation results in the phenotypic alteration of retinal pigment epithelial cells, predisposing the environment to choroidal neovascularization development. This is mediated through the agonistic function of A2E, at least in part. The results of this study provide a novel potential therapeutic target for this incurable condition.</P>

Early series in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) in adults demonstrated a lower safe limit of graft volume standard liver volume ratio 25%–45%. A subsequent worldwide large LDLT series proposed a 0.8 graft recipient weight ratio (GRWR) to define small-for-size graft (SFSG) in adult LDLT. Thereafter, researchers identified innate and inevitable factors including changes in liver volume during imaging studies and graft shrinkage due to perfusion solution. Although the definition of small-for-size syndrome (SFSS) advocated in the 2000s was mainly based on prolonged cholestasis and ascites output, the term SFSS was inadequate to describe clinical manifestations possibly caused by multiple factors. Thus, the term “early allograft dysfunction (EAD),” characterized by total bilirubin >10 mg/dL or coagulopathy with international normalized ratio >1.6 on day 7, has become prevalent to describe graft dysfunction including SFSS after LDLT. Although various efforts have been made to overcome EAD in LDLT, graft selection to maintain an expected GRWR >0.8 and full venous drainage, as well as inflow modulation using splenic artery ligation, have become standard in recent LDLT.
