Analysis of lunar samples returned by the US Apollo missions revealed that the lunar highlands consist of anorthosite, plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine; also, the lunar maria are composed of materials such as basalt and ilmenite. More recently, the remote sensing approach has enabled reduction of the time required to investigate the entire lunar surface, compared to the approach of returning samples. Moreover, remote sensing has also made it possible to determine the existence of specific minerals and to examine wide areas. In this paper, an investigation was performed on the reflectance distribution and its trend. The results were applied to the example of the double ray stretched in parallel lines from the Tycho crater to the third-quadrant of Mare Nubium. Basic research and background information for the investigation of lunar surface characteristics is also presented. For this research, resources aboard the SELenological and ENgineering Explorer (SELENE), a Japanese lunar probe, were used. These included the Multiband Imager (MI) in the Lunar Imager/Spectrometer (LISM). The data of these instruments were edited through the toolkit, an image editing and analysis tool, Exelis Visual Information Solution (ENVI).
사회적 지지가 1인가구 재난피해자의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 사회적 지지가 1인가구 재난피해자의 삶의 질에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 국립재난안전연구원의 재난피해자 패널조사 데이터를 활용하였다. 재난 피해경험이 있는 1,659명의 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1인가구 재난피해자는 대부분 빈곤층, 노인, 여성 등 재난 취약계층으로 구성되어져 있다. 1인가구는 다양한 형태의취약 계층의 비율이 상대적으로 높아 복합적인 재난 취약성을 나타내고 있음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 1인가구 재난피해자가 다인가구 재난피해자보다 사회적 지지, 삶의 질의 수준이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이는, 가구형태만으로도 사회적 지지와 삶의 질에서 차이가 있음을 의미한다. 셋째, 사회적 지지는 1인가구 재난피해자의 삶의 질에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 가족지지체계가부족한 1인가구 재난피해자의 삶의 질을 증진시키기 위해서는 지역사회 중심의 사회 지지적 개입의중요성을 시사한다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of social support on the quality of life among disaster victims in one-person households. This study used the data from the 2nd Disaster Victims Panel Survey collected by the National Disaster Management Research Institute in South Korea. The results of data analysis for 1,659 victims who experienced natural or social disasters were as follows. First, most of the disaster victims in one-person households include vulnerable groups such as the poor, the elderly and women. Second, the levels of social support and quality of life among disaster victims in one-person households were lower compared to those in multi-person households. Third, social support had a significant effect on the quality of life for disaster victims in one-person households. This result confirmed the importance of social support for the recovery from disaster and suggested that a community-based program would be needed to improve social support and quality of life for disaster victims in one-person households who lack family support.

본 연구는 재난상황에서 물리적 피해뿐만 아니라 정신적인 피해를 겪게 되는 재난 피해자의 정신건강을 증진할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 진행되었다. 즉, 재난관리에서 최근 대두되는공동체 탄력성이 재난피해자가 겪을 수 있는 주요한 정서적 피해인 외상 후 스트레스장애(PTSD)의완화에 영향을 주는 지를 검증하여 재난피해자의 정서적 피해 경감에 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위해국립재난안전연구원에서 실시한 ‘재난피해자 삶의 변화 3차 추적조사(3차년도)’ 자료를 활용하여2012년부터 2017년까지 발생한 자연재난과 사회재난 피해자 2,311명을 최종 분석하였다. 연구의 분석을 위해 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 사용하였으며 재난피해자의 인구사회학적 특성과 주요변수의 수준을 파악하기 위해 빈도분석 및 기술통계분석을 실시하였다. 또한, 주요 변수들 간의 다중공선성 확인을 위해 피어슨의 상관관계를 실시하였고, 종속변수에 주요한 영향을 줄 수 있는 변수를 통제하여공동체 탄력성이 재난피해자의 PTSD에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위한 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 공동체 탄력성이라는 지역사회차원의 재난관리방안을 제안하고자 한다. The purpose of this study was to find out ways to improve mental health of disaster victims who suffer physical as well as mental damage from disasters. In other words, this study aimed to contribute to reducing emotional damages to disaster victims by verifying whether community resilience, as an emerging topic in disaster management, could mitigate PTSD symptoms of disaster victims. For this purpose, the data of the 3rd Disaster Victims Panel survey conducted by the National Disaster Management Research Institute in Korea were analyzed for 2,311 victims of natural and social disasters occurred in Korea from 2012 to 2017. Frequency and descriptive statistics analysis were conducted to identify the demographic characteristics of the victims as well as the major variables. In addition, a multiple regression analysis was conducted to identify the effect of community resilience on PTSD symptoms of disaster victims, with controlling the variables that could have an impact on the dependent variables. Based on the findings, the study proposed a disaster management plan at the community level using community resilience.

Production of transgenic cymbidium plants containing drought and salt stress tolerance genes

Transgenic cymbidium plants containing drought and salt stresses tolerance genes were produced by using a highly efficient Agrobacterium-mediated transformation system. The gene (AtSZF2) is salt and drought stresses tolerant gene and transferred into cymbidium plants. These transgenic cymbidium plants are investigated for gene introduction by PCR and analyzed by salt and drought stresses to check its gene expression. To investigate the gene expression of AtSZF2, leaves of transgenic cymbidium plants were soaked in salt solution (200 mM NaCl). Also, transgenic cymbidium plants were kept under no watering for 6 weeks to check the expression of drought stress tolerance. As a result, wild type plants showed more damage than transgenic plants under salt treatment. Further, transgenic cymbidium plants retained green color and healthy status, while wild type plants showed no tolerance after 6 weeks of no-watering treatment.
Usefulness of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in young children with febrile urinary tract infection

Purpose: Acute pyelonephritis (APN) is a serious bacterial infection that can cause renal scarring in children. Early identification of APN is critical to improve treatment outcomes. The neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a prognostic marker of many diseases, but it has not yet been established in urinary tract infection (UTI). The aim of this study was to determine whether NLR is a useful marker to predict APN or vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 298 pediatric patients ($age{\leq}36months$) with febrile UTI from January 2010 to December 2014. Conventional infection markers (white blood cell [WBC] count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate [ESR], C-reactive protein [CRP]), and NLR were measured. Results: WBC, CRP, ESR, and NLR were higher in APN than in lower UTI (P<0.001). Multiple logistic regression analyses showed that NLR was a predictive factor for positive dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) defects (P<0.001). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was high for NLR (P<0.001) as well as CRP (P<0.001) for prediction of DMSA defects. NLR showed the highest area under the ROC curve for diagnosis of VUR (P<0.001). Conclusion: NLR can be used as a diagnostic marker of APN with DMSA defect, showing better results than those of conventional markers for VUR prediction.
