Phase Diagram and Transport Properties of Y1−xNdxCo2 Pseudo-binary Alloys

The electrical resistivity and the thermopower S of pseudo-binary Y1−xNdxCo2 alloys have beenmeasured at temperatures from 2 to 300 K under pressures up to 3.5 GPa. NdCo2 is a ferromagnetwith a Curie temperature TC of 98 K. In the ferromagnetic phase, it undergoes a 4f spin-reorientationtransition at TR = 40 K. At this transition, the easy direction of 4f magnetization is changed from[100] at temperatures above TR to [110] below TR. The system phase diagram TC(x, P) and TR(x, P)is inferred from the temperature dependencies of the electrical resistivity and the thermopower. The Curie temperature of the alloys, TC decreases with decreasing Nd concentration x and vanishesaround xc = 0.3. Above xc, the Curie temperature decreases with increasing pressure. The spinreorientationtemperature weakly depends on the composition and on the pressure until it mergeswith TC. There is a large region of the phase diagram, partly overlapping with the ferromagneticphase, where the cobalt 3d electron system is non-uniformly magnetized due to spatial fluctuationsof the 4f-3d exchange field related to a random distribution of Nd 4f magnetic moments over the Rsublattice. In this region, large static 3d magnetic fluctuations govern the electronic transport.
New Assay Method for Surveying Anti-Emetic Compounds from Natural Sources
Y. Akita,Y. Yang,T. Kawai,K. Kinoshita,K. Koyama,K. Takahashi,K. Watanabe 한국생약학회 1998 Natural Product Sciences Vol.4 No.2
The new assay method was developed by using young chicks instead of frogs for screening of anti-emetic compounds from natural sources. Comparing with our previous method using leopard and rapid frogs, the advantages of the new method were not only completely parallel results but also decreasing standard errors. Hinesol and eudesmol were isolated from MeOH extract of Atractylodes lancea rhizome as the anti-emetic principles.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The neutron-rich isotopes of palladium have attracted considerable interest in terms of the evolution of the N = 82 neutron shell closure and its influence on the <I>r</I>-process nucleosynthesis. In this Letter, we present the first spectroscopic information on the excited states in 125Pd79 and 127Pd81 studied using the EURICA <I>γ</I>-ray spectrometer, following production via in-flight fission of a high-intensity 238U beam at the RIBF facility. New isomeric states with half-lives of 144(4) ns and 39(6) μs have been assigned spins and parities of ( 23 / 2 + ) and ( 19 / 2 + ) in 125Pd and 127Pd, respectively. The observed level properties are compared to a shell-model calculation, suggesting the competition between proton excitations and neutron excitations in the proton-hole and neutron-hole systems in the vicinity of the doubly magic nucleus 132Sn.</P>

An in-situ monitoring system for sintering shrinkage was devised to study the nonuniform deformation of injection moulded powder compacts. The monitoring system is based on the digital image correlation method and has a modified image processing software compared to the conventional method. The system consists of a bell-type sintering furnace and an optical image processing set-up, enabling one to measure two- and three-dimensional changes in the compacts during sintering on a non-contact and real time basis. Nonuniform and anisotropic sintering shrinkage was precisely determined for two types of complex-shaped powder compacts of stainless steel (SUS304) prepared by metal injection moulding at room temperatures up to 1543 K.

Y. Naitou,Y. Watanabe,S. Hirayama,M. Hayashi,A. Prokofiev,A. Hjalmarsson,S. Pomp,P. Andersson,R. Bevilacqua,C. Gustavsson,M. Osterlund,V. Simutkin,H. Sjostrand,M. Tesinsky,U. Tippawan 한국물리학회 2011 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.59 No.23
Neutron beam characterization measurements have been carried out in both the ANITA and QMN modes using the incident proton beam of 180 MeV at the The Svedverg Laboratory (TSL) in Uppsala. The spectral neutron flux data have been obtained by measuring elastic np-scattering with the Medley setup. The experimental results in the ANITA and QMN modes are compared with an MCNPX simulation and with the systematics of QMN spectra, respectively.
