Wavelet-transform-based damping identification of a super-tall building under strong wind loads
An Xu,Jiurong Wu,Ruohong Zhao 한국풍공학회 2014 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.19 No.4
A new method is proposed in this study for estimating the damping ratio of a super tall building under strong wind loads with short-time measured acceleration signals. This method incorporates two main steps. Firstly, the power spectral density of wind-induced acceleration response is obtained by the wavelet transform, then the dynamic characteristics including the natural frequency and damping ratio for the first vibration mode are estimated by a nonlinear regression analysis on the power spectral density. A numerical simulation illustrated that the damping ratios identified by the wavelet spectrum are superior in precision and stability to those values obtained from Welch’s periodogram spectrum. To verify the efficiency of the proposed method, wind-induced acceleration responses of the Guangzhou West Tower (GZWT) measured in the field during Typhoon Usagi, which affected this building on September 22, 2013, were used. The damping ratios identified varied from 0.38% to 0.61% in direction 1 and from 0.22% to 0.59% in direction 2. This information is expected to be of considerable interest and practical use for engineers and researchers involved in the wind-resistant design of super-tall buildings.

Nuclear receptors (NRs), which belong to a superfamily of ligand-dependent transcription factors, play essential roles in gene regulation to affect numerous physiological pathways. Twenty NR genes were identified in Nilaparvata lugens by using genomic, transcriptomic and GenBank databases, and categorized into NR0-NR6 subfamilies according to standard nomenclature. Among them, three NR geneswere classed into NR0, four into NR1, eight into NR2, one into NR3, one into NR4, two into NR5, and one into NR6, respectively. A phylogenetic tree of NRs from N. lugens and other representative species was constructed, which provided evolutionary insight into genetic distance. In order to investigate the NRs,whichwere induced by sulfoxaflor, time- and tissue-specific expression profiles of NR genes in fourth-instar nymphs were determined following LD50 sulfoxaflor treatment (0.28 ng/insect) and compared with control samples. NlUSP, NlE78, NlTLL, NlHR51, NlHR83, NlPNR and NlFTZ-F1 were highly expressed following 12–48 h of sulfoxaflor treatment. NlHR39 and NlDSF transcripts were detected in the head and the thorax, respectively. High-level and constitutive expression of NlHR3, NlTLL, NlHR83, NlFTZF1 and NlHR4 were found in the abdomen. Feeding of dsRNAs reduced the expression of NlHR3, NlUSP, NlTLL, NlHR83, NlPNR, NlFTZ-F1 and NlHR4 (35.48–49.77%) and caused significant nymph mortality (69.21–81.45%). These NRs, considered as insecticide targets, may play important function in sulfoxaflor detoxification.

The lead-free ceramics (Na0.54Bi0.5)0.94Ba0.06Ti1+xO3 with x = −0.02, 0, 0.02, and 0.04 were prepared by a solid-state reaction method. Effects of Ti4+ nonstoichiometry on crystallite structure, microstructure, dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties were studied. The ceramics with x = −0.02 and 0 exhibit typical diffraction peaks of perovskite structure. A secondary phase appears in the ceramics with x = 0.02 and 0.04. The rhombohedral-tetragonal morphotropic phase boundary exists in all samples, and the relative amount of the tetragonal phase changes with the increase in the Ti4+ amount from deficiency to excess. Grain sizes and shape of the ceramics are unaffected by changes in Ti4+ nonstoichiometry. But, dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of the ceramics are close related to the Ti4+ amounts. Compared with the ceramic with x = 0, the ceramics with the Ti4+ nonstoichiometry have higher depolarization temperature, lower maximum dielectric constant, decreased piezoelectric constant and ferroelectric properties.
Protective effect of Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC8014 on acrylamide-induced oxidative damage in rats
Zhao Sijia,Zhao Xiaoduo,Liu Qingbo,Jiang Yujun,Li Yanhua,Feng Wenxiao,Xu Honghua,Shao Meili 한국응용생명화학회 2020 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.63 No.4
Acrylamide (AA), which is mainly found in fried foods, causes neurotoxicity, genetic toxicity, carcinogenic effects, and DNA damage. This study confirms that a strain of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC8014) could alleviate the toxicity of rats by inhibiting the AA-induced oxidative damage. Forty-eight adult male SD rats were randomly divided into eight groups: control group, AA group (40 mg/kg), three different doses (1 × 107 CFU/ml, 1 × 108 CFU/ ml, 1 × 109 CFU/ml of Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC8014) of prevention groups and therapeutic groups, respectively. At the end of three-week experiment, AA treatment produced a significant reduction in the rate of weight gain along with the symptoms of hind limb splay and ataxia. Histological examinations revealed various degrees of injury in five tissues. Levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione (GSH) in group AA rats were significantly decreased, but the level of lipid peroxidation (LPO) was significantly increased (p < 0.05). Both prevention and therapeutic groups with 1 × 109 CFU/ml of Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC8014 could effectively reduce the injury of AA to the body. However, reductions in both groups were not statistically significant.

Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) is an important network security system. There always appears high packet loss rate in NIDS, especially when the network traffic is high. We raised Multimedia Packets Processing Method to reduce the packet loss rate and received good results. On this basis, Dynamic Programming is applied to optimize the decision-making steps of this method. This improvement can help the system to find an optimum solution to select the highest risk of multimedia data packet sequence in each time slice, moreover, the system load capacity can also be considered. In this way, the limited processing power of NIDS can be focused on the more dangerous multimedia data packets. A series of experimental results indicate this optimization can help the system to improve the detection rate of the high risk of multimedia information.

The role of neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the central nucleus of amygdala (CeA) in the preventive effects of acupuncture against ethanol withdrawal-induced anxiety was investigated. Rats were treated with 3 g/kg/day of ethanol for 28 days, followed by 3 days of withdrawal. Bilateral acupuncture treatment at HT7 (Shen-Men), PC6 (Nei-Guan) or a non-acupoint was respectively added to the rats during the withdrawal once a day for three days. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses showed there was a significant decrease in NPY protein and mRNA expression in the CeA during ethanol withdrawal, which was reversed by acupuncture at HT7 but neither at PC6 nor at a non-acupoint. Acupuncture at HT7 also greatly inhibited the decrease in cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) phosphorylation in the CeA. In elevated plus maze tests, a selective NPY Y1 receptor antagonist BIBP 3226 into the CeA before the acupuncture abolished almost completely the anxiolytic effect of acupuncture at HT7. These results suggest that acupuncture at HT7 rescues the depletion of amygdaloid NPY and reverses the decrease in CREB phosphorylation to produce anxiolytic effects during ethanol withdrawal. Our aims were to evaluate the clinical performance of human telomerase RNA gene component (hTERC gene) amplification assay with high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) DNA test of Hybrid Capture 2 DNA test (HC2), for the detection of high grade cervical precancerous lesions and cancer (CIN 2+). In addition, the association shown between hTERC gene amplification and HPV DNA test positive in women with and without cervical neoplasia was assessed. There were 92 women who underwent cytology, HR-HPV DNA test, hTERC gene amplification test, colposcopy and biopsy. We compared the clinical performance of hTERC gene test along with HR-HPV DNA test of women with colposcopy and routine screening. The samples were histology-confirmed high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN 2) or worse (CIN2+) as the positive criterion. The test of hTERC gene showed the hTERC gene amplification positivity increased with the severity of histological abnormality and cytological abnormality. The test of hTERC gene showed higher specificity than HR-HPV DNA test for high-grade lesions (84.4% versus 50%) and also higher positive predictive value (90.4% versus 76.5%). Our results predicted that hTERC gene amplification demonstrated more specific performance for predicting the risk of progression and offer a strong potential as a tool for triage in cervical cancer screening, with the limited sensitive as HR-HPV DNA test.
