The gear generation process is strongly dependent on the accuracy of the multi-axis relative motion, which is controlled by theelectronic gearbox (EGB). This research mainly focuses on helical gear hobbing and on EGB control error analysis, estimation andcompensation in the generation process of a gear hobbing machine. First, a simple approach for estimation of the helical gear pitcherror and the spiral line contour error is proposed. Then, in conjunction with this estimation method, an EGB cross-couplingcontroller (ECCC) architecture, which is connected by the EGB and the cross-coupling controller, is presented. Simulation resultsshow that the proposed ECCC has higher control accuracy than an uncoupled controller, and its control accuracy can be furtherimproved using friction compensation. Finally, experiments are conducted on an YS3118 six-axis hobbing machine. The helical gearsmachined using this machine have high precision. In addition, the proposed ECCC architecture can be implemented easily on mostmotion systems that are in current use.

The aroma composition, aroma-active compounds, and sensory attributions of cherry wines from three different price segments were investigated. A total of 48 aroma compounds were identified and quantified using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME)/gas chromatography– mass spectrometry (GC–MS), among which 23 aroma compounds were further screened out as important odorants based on their odor activity values (OAVs); then, the previously mentioned 23 volatiles were correlated to sensory attributes using partial least-squares regression (PLSR). The result indicates that the differently priced wines were associated with different compounds and aroma attributions. Finally, aroma reconstitution was performed by mixing odor-active aroma compounds (OAVs>1) on the basis of their measured concentrations in the original sample. The result indicated that the aroma profile of the reconstituted sample was similar to that of the original sample.

Whether Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) can be transmitted to offspring, has been a noticeable question for a long time. When fifth instar larvae of the silkworm were orally inoculated with BmNPV dot hybridization and PCR amplification analysis demonstrated that BmNPV was not detected in the eggs laid by BmNPV productively infected female moths. The results indicated that BmNPV could not be transovarially transmitted.

A novel ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin derivative (CCD-C) was synthesized with chitosan and carboxymethyl-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin. Its structure was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The adsorption properties for guanosine 5'-monophosphate, cytidine 5'-monophosphate and uridine 5'-monophosphate were studied. Experimental results demonstrated that CCD-C had higher adsorption capability for guanosine 5'-monophosphate, and that the adsorption capacity for guanosine 5'-monophosphate was 74.20mg/g. The adsorption capacity was greatly influenced by pH, time and temperature. The introduction of chitosan enhanced the adsorption ability and adsorption selectivity of ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin for guanosine 5'-monophosphate. This novel derivative of chitosan is expected to have wide applications in the separation, concentration and analysis of nucleotides in biological samples.

The dehydration-responsive element-binding(DREB) proteins play an important role in regulatingexpression of stress-inducible genes under abiotic stresses. In this study, two genes encoding putative DREB proteins, named SsDREBa and SsDREBb, were cloned from halophyteSuaeda salsa L. using RACE method. The deducedSsDREBa and SsDREBb proteins contain a typical AP2/ERF domain. Multiple sequence alignments and phylogeneticanalysis revealed that the two SsDREB genes of S. salsa were highly similar in AP2/ERF domains at thenucleotide and amino acid levels and belong to the A-6subgroup of the DREB transcription factor subfamily. Asubcellular localization assay showed that both SsDREBslocalized to the nucleus. Yeast one-hybrid experimentstestified that both proteins were able to specifically bind tothe DRE sequence and activate the expression of the downstreamHIS reporter gene in yeast. Quantitative real-timePCR analysis demonstrated that under normal conditions, the expression level of SsDREBa was the most high in theroots and no SsDREBa mRNAs were detected in the stems;SsDREBb expressed at relatively higher levels in the leavesthan in the roots and stems. The expression of SsDREa andSsDREBb genes in S. salsa roots and leaves was remarkablyinduced by high-salt and dehydration treatments, butnot by cold and ABA, and exhibited stronger induction inroots and leaves, respectively. These results indicate thatthe SsDREBa and SsDREBb are novel stress-responsivetranscription factors, which are involved in the drought andhigh-salt stress responses through ABA-independent pathwaysand could be used for production of stress-toleranttransgenic crops.

Cationic liposomes complexed with DNA have been extensively utilized for the delivery of reporter or therapeutic genes both in culture and in vivo. We investigated and determined the optimum conditions of a cationic liposome, composed of dimethyldioctadecy-lammonium bromide (DDAB) and dioleoyl phosphati-dylethanolamine UOPE), mediated a reporter plasmid expressing luciferase into insect cell lines (Sf-21 and Bm-N) and silkworm larvae. Together the data demonstrated that Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) genomic DNA (128 kb) was successfully transfected into Bm-5 cells using this liposome. These results suggest that DDAB/DOPE liposome will be useful as delivery agents for gene transfer to insect cells both in vitro and in vivo.

The breeding of domestic rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) for human consumption has a long tradition in China. Infections that can affect the production of meat or even be transmitted from animals to humans are important to monitor, especially for public health reasons as well as for their impact on animal health. Thus, a total of 1,132 domestic rabbit sera from 4 regions in China were collected for serological screening for Encephalitozoon cuniculi and for Toxoplasma gondii by ELISA and modified agglutination test (MAT), respectively. Antibodies to E. cuniculi were detected in 248/1,132 (21.9%) sera tested while antibodies against T. gondii revealed a seroprevalence of 51/1,132 (4.5%). We believe that the present results are of epidemiological implications and public health importance due to the acknowledged susceptibility of humans to E. cuniculi and T. gondii infections. Therefore, routine screening tests of domestic rabbits are proposed considering the zoonotic potential of these parasites.
