DIFFUSION IN SIMULATED SiO2 NANOPARTICLES
VO VAN HOANG 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2007 NANO Vol.2 No.5
Diffusion in liquid SiO2 nanoparticle with the diameter of 4 nm has been studied in a spherical model containing 2214 atoms via Molecular Dynamics simulation (MD). Diffusion constant of atomic species has been calculated over temperatures ranged from 2100 K to 7000 K and compared with those observed for the bulk. We found that temperature dependence of diffusion constant of atomic species in nanoparticle shows an Arrhenius law at temperatures above 2100 K and at T > 4200 K, it deviates from an Arrhenius law. However, unlike those observed in the bulk at T > 4200 K, it does not show a power law, D ~ (T - Tc)γ. Moreover, at relatively low temperatures, diffusion constant in nanoparticle is higher than that in the bulk indicating the surface dynamics effects.

Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer is emerging as an effective nanocarrier for delivering anticancer drugs. Still, unmodified PAMAM dendrimer is hardly used in vivo because of unsatisfied drug release, high tendency of interfering with cellular membranes, and rapid clearance by reticuloendothelial system. In this study, low generation polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer G3.0 is developed and surface modified with methoxypolyethylene glycol (PAMAM G3.0-mPEG) to overcome its limitations. Specifically, PAMAM G3.0 conjugated with mPEG at different ratios are investigated to effectively eliminate its charge-associated toxicity, in which PAMAM G3.0-mPEG- 8 is chosen for oxaliplatin (OX) loading. Results reveal that OX-loaded PAMAM G3.0-mPEG-8 has desirable size, good entrapment efficiency, and sustained release with minimum drug leakage. In addition, Resazurin assay indicates that the toxicity of loaded OX is reduced as compared to free drug but still maintain substantially anticancer activity on HeLa cells, suggesting the potential application of PAMAM G3.0-mPEG-8 for OX delivery in cancer therapy.
Structural defects and thermodynamics of vitreous GeO_2 nanoparticles
Vo Van Hoang,Tran Phuoc Duy 한국물리학회 2011 Current Applied Physics Vol.11 No.3
Structural defects and thermodynamics of vitreous GeO_2 nanoparticles have been studied in spherical models of different sizes ranged from 2 to 5 nm. Models have been obtained by cooling from the melts via using molecular dynamics (MD) method with the ab initio pair interatomic potentials. Structural properties were investigated via partial radial distribution function (PRDF), interatomic distances, bondangle and coordination number distributions. Surface and core structure of amorphous GeO_2 nanoparticles have been studied in details. Structural defects and their role in structure and properties of nanoparticles have been analyzed and discussed. We found temperature (and size) dependence of potential energy, surface energy of GeO_2 nanoparticles. We also found the size dependence of glass transition temperature of nanoparticles.

Objectives: The incidence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has increased, particularly among individuals who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. Health literacy is considered a “social vaccine” that helps people respond effectively to the pandemic. We aimed to investigate the association between long COVID-19 and PTSD, and to examine the modifying role of health literacy in this association. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at 18 hospitals and health centers in Vietnam from December 2021 to October 2022. We recruited 4,463 individuals who had recovered from COVID-19 infection for at least 4 weeks. Participants provided information about their sociodemographics, clinical parameters, health-related behaviors, health literacy (using the 12-item short-form health literacy scale), long COVID-19 symptoms and PTSD (Impact Event Scale-Revised score of 33 or higher). Logistic regression models were used to examine associations and interactions. Results: Out of the study sample, 55.9% had long COVID-19 symptoms, and 49.6% had PTSD. Individuals with long COVID-19 symptoms had a higher likelihood of PTSD (odds ratio [OR], 1.68; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.63–2.12; p<0.001). Higher health literacy was associated with a lower likelihood of PTSD (OR, 0.98; 95% CI, 0.97–0.99; p=0.001). Compared to those with long COVID-19 symptoms and the lowest health literacy score, those with long COVID-19 symptoms and a 1-point health literacy increment had a 3% lower likelihood of PTSD (OR, 0.97; 95% CI, 0.96–0.99; p=0.001).Conclusion: Health literacy was found to be a protective factor against PTSD and modified the negative impact of long COVID-19 symptoms on PTSD.
Genetic diversity of spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) in Vietnam based on COI genes
Huy Van Nguyen,Minh Tu Nguyen,Nghia Duc Vo,Nguyen Thi Thao Phan,Quang Tan Hoang 한국수산과학회 2022 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.25 No.12
A spotted scat, Scatophagus argus, has a high nutritional value and is among Asia’s most widely consumed fish species. Thua Thien Hue’s consumption market considers this species to be of high economic value and requires protection and conservation of the population. However, the studies on the identification and genetic diversity of S. argus distributed in Vietnam are still lacking. Therefore, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene was utilized to distinguish different populations and investigate the genetic diversity of two populations of S. argus from Tam Giang lagoon, Thua Thien Hue province (n = 31) and Ca Mau province (n = 14). The sequencing results indicated 13 distinct haplotypes among 45 sequences. Five single nucleotide polymorphisms were observed to distinguish Hue spotted scat population. The S. argus population in Ca Mau province was higher haplotype diversity (Hd) and nucleotide diversity (π) than those of Thua Thien Hue province, which demonstrates that there are minor differences between haplotypes. There were genetic distances ranging from 0%–4% within the populations and 6.67% between the two populations. In addition to the sequencing, the comparison of morphology, biology, culture, and the growth rate was sufficient to distinguish the spotted scat S. argus in Thua Thien Hue from Ca Mau.

Tran Le,Hoang Cao Son Tran,Van Hieu Le,Tuan Tran,Cao Vinh Tran,Thanh Tan Vo,Mau Chien Dang,김상섭,이재찬,Bach Thang Phan 한국물리학회 2012 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.60 No.7
The resistance switching mechanism and the electrical conduction of thick Cu/ZnO/Cu/ZnO/Cu structures were investigated for various ZnO thicknesses (40, 80, 160, and 320 nm) when the thickness of the middle Cu layer was 2 nm. The ZnO films had a microstructure with columnar grains normal to the substrate. The switching voltages (VSET and VRESET) varied with the thickness of the ZnO layer. A symmetric electrode structure exhibited a unipolar resistance switching. The electrical transport of both high-resistance state (HRS) and low-resistance state (LRS) was Ohmic conduction, and the resistance switching mechanism was driven by the formation and the rupture of Cu conducting paths.

Mouthwash is one of the most commonly oral healthcare products for prevention and treatment of gum diseases. Dr. ECA is a disinfectant solution manufactured by a Vietnamese company and has been licensed for oral healthcare, but its effect on gingivitis is still unclear. To evaluate the effectiveness of this product in the treatment of gingivitis, we conducted a clinical study in 60 students diagnosed with gingivitis to compare the results of gingivitis treatment using Dr. ECA and a control mouthwash (a demonstrated anti-gingivitis product). The data showed that in the treated group, the rate of good Gingivitis Index (GI) before treatment was 46.67%, but after 2 and 4 weeks of using Dr. ECA that rate was increased to 96.67% and 100%, respectively. The percentage of patients with bleeding on probing was 63.33% but declined sharply after 2 weeks of treatment to 6.67%, and further reduced to 3.33% after 4 weeks of treatment. The treatment outcomes in were similar in the Dr. ECA treated group and control one with no statistically significant difference. Our results suggest that the electrolyte saline solution Dr. ECA is effective in treating gingivitis. Its effects are similar to other mouthwash products that had been approved and marketed.
EVOLUTION OF STRUCTURE OF LIQUID AND AMORPHOUS Al2O3·2SiO2 NANOPARTICLES UPON COOLING FROM THE MELTS
NGUYEN NGOC LINH,VO VAN HOANG 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2007 NANO Vol.2 No.4
Structural properties of liquid and amorphous Al2O3·2SiO2 nanoparticles have been investigated by molecular dynamics (MD) method. The simulations were done in a spherical model with different sizes of 2 nm, 3 nm and 4 nm under nonperiodic boundary conditions. We use the Born–Mayer type interatomic potentials. We determined the changes in mean interatomic distances, coordination number distributions, partial radial distribution functions (PRDFs) and bond-angle distributions of Al2O3·2SiO2 nanoparticles upon cooling towards glassy state. Calculations show that liquid and amorphous Al2O3·2SiO2 nanoparticles have a slightly distorted tetrahedral network structure with the mean coordination number ZAl - O ≈ 4.0 and ZSi - O ≈ 4.0, which is contrary to that of the liquid and amorphous bulk. Temperature dependence of structural defects in nanoparticles was found and discussed. In addition, we found size effects on glass transition temperature of Al2O3·2SiO2 nanoparticles in that it decreases with decreasing size.
