Stress Determination in Epitaxial Lead Titanate Films by Asymmetric X-ray Diffraction Method

Residual stresses in epitaxial films were measured by X-ray diffraction method. Lattice strains of the (hkl) planes measured along particular Ψ-angles were converted to the in-plane stress according to the equation of stress-strain tensor conversion. Residual tensile stresses were observed in epitaxial PbTiO$_3$ films deposited on (100) SrTiO$_3$ substrate. Tensile stresses approximately 0.9 GPa were measured in Pb-rich films, while it increased to approximately 2.0 GPa with the decreasing of Pb content in the case of Pb-poor films, which ascribed to the formation of lead and oxygen vacancies (expressed as x in Pb$_1-x$TiO$_3-x$).
Fatigue Strength of Angle Shape Shear Connector used in Steel-Concrete Composite Slab

Fatigue strength of welded joint between angle shape shear connector and bottom plate in steel-concrete composite slab was investigated by fatigue tests. Fatigue tests were performed on push-out shear specimens. Local stress around the welded joint was also investigated by FEA. In fatigue tests, fatigue cracks initiated and propagated at the welded toe. The fatigue cracks were caused by stress concentration at the welded joints due to the local bending deformation of bottom plate. This local bending deformation was analytically simulated by FEA carried out on slab members in practice. After these investigations, it was confirmed the stress level at the welded joint was small and much less than the fatigue limit even when the design truck loads were applied.

폐기물 매립지의 조기 안전화를 위해 여러 가지 Chemical oxidation법이 개발되어 왔지만, 이 방법을 폐기물 매립지에 적용 하고 난 후에 생성될 수 있는 부산물들이 주변 환경에 영향을 줄 가능성이 있다. 그래서, 이 방법을 실제 매립지에 적용하기 전에, 일본 키타큐슈에 있는 소각재가 묻혀 있는 모형 매립지에 다섯 가지 조건 - A, 콤포스트 추가; B, 과산화수소수 살수; C, 과산화수소수+공기주입; D, 공기주입; E, control - 을 저굥하여 그 효능을 테스트하였고, 이 매립자에서 이 방법들의 적용 후에 생성되는 침출수의 급성 독성을 세 가지 microiotests를 이용하여 monitoring하였다. 테스트 기간 중, 침출수의 수질은 개선되었고, 그 급성 독성은 점차적으로 감소하였다. 과산화수소수와 공기의 조합을 적용한 후 생성된 침출수의 급성 독성이 가장 빨리 감소하여 폐기물 매리지의 조기 안정화에 도움을 주었다. 이러한 독성 시험 결과는 몇가지 화학적 parameters와 상관성이 있었고, 여기에 사용된 급성 독성테스트법은, 매립지 안정화를 위한 chemical oxidation법의 적용 후, 침출수 수질을 monitoring하는데 적절하였다. 그러므로, 폐기물 매립지의 조기 폐지 기준에 독성 시험의 포함을 고려핼 볼 필요가 있다고 생각한다.
Antiferromagnetic Transition in Ru2CrSi in Magnetic Fields

In the Heusler compound Ru2CrSi, an antiferromagnetic transition at TN =14 K was revealed byspecific heat and magnetization measurements. In this study the electrical resistivity is measured inmagnetic fields up to 14.5 T, and the antiferromagnetic transition in magnetic fields is investigated. In the temperature dependence of the resistivity at zero field, a clear dip at 15 K and a humpwith a maximum at 9 K are observed. This dip is considered to be due to the antiferromagnetictransition. With increasing magnetic field, the magnitude of the resistivity slightly increases aroundTN; i.e., a positive magnetoresistance is observed. The temperature dependence of the resistivityis hardly affected by increasing the magnetic field. The transition temperature decreases only by 0.3 K even with applying 14.5 T. These results demonstrate that the antiferromagnetic state inRu2CrSi is unusually unaffected by a strong magnetic field.
