<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>For this report, we compared interfacial spectroscopic tools to monitor in situ Fenton reactions of organic dyes on ascorbic acid-reduced gold nanostars (AuNSs). Ultraviolet-visible (UV–vis) absorption and Raman spectroscopic tools were introduced to check the hydroxyl radical destruction of ethyl violet (EV), which contains a triarylmethane group. AuNSs with sharp edges, tips, and corners were used as efficient surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) substrates for in situ Fenton reaction monitoring. The SERRS intensity of the EV showed a first-order decay curve with a reaction rate constant value of 0.0263 min−1, while the decolorization yielded second-order kinetic behavior with a constant value of 0.00430 L/mol min. In addition to the destruction of the organic dyes, the increased number of ferric (III) ions, as a result of the Fenton reactions, was detected via 4-aminobenzo-15-crown-5 (4AB15C5) conjugated with 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4MBA). We found that the SERRS bands at ∼1500 cm−1 of 4AB15C5 on AuNSs increased after treatment with H2O2 and FeSO4. Real industrial textile wastewater samples were then tested to determine whether this Raman method could be applied to detect increases in ferric ions. Our spectroscopic data used SERRS peaks via Fenton reaction results to calculate an estimated ∼65% destruction of the organic dyes.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) syndrome is a rare congenital coronary artery anomaly. Clinical presentation can range from asymptomatic conditions to sudden death with exertion. The majority of cases is diagnosed in childhood and dies within the first year, however medical literature has confirmed several cases in adults. We report a case of a 49-year-old woman hospitalized for vague chest pain. Echocardiography found collateral circulation on the anterior wall, and ALCAPA syndrome was diagnosed on multislice CT.

Background: The existing modified carbapenem inactivation methods (mCIMs) recommended by the CLSI for detecting carbapenemase production have not been applicable for Acinetobacter baumannii. We evaluated the influence of matrices used in mCIMs and CIMTris on the stability of the disks for detecting carbapenemase producers and suggested optimal mCIM conditions for detecting carbapenemase-producing A. baumannii. Methods: Seventy-three A. baumannii isolates characterized for antimicrobial susceptibility and carbapenemase encoding genes were tested for carbapenemase production using mCIM and CIMTris. The influence of the matrices (Tryptic soy broth [TSB] and Tris-HCl) used in these methods on the stability of the meropenem (MEM) disk was also evaluated. The mCIM conditions were adjusted to enhance screening sensitivity and specificity for detecting carbapenemase-producing A. baumannii. Results: The matrices had an impact on the stability of the MEM disk after the incubation period (two or four hrs). TSB nutrient broth is an appropriate matrix for mCIM compared with Tris-HCl pH 7.6, which leads to the loss of MEM activity in CIMTris. The sensitivity and the specificity of the optimal mCIM were both 100%. Conclusions: We established optimal mCIM conditions for simple, accurate, and reproducible detection of carbapenemase-producing A. baumannii.
The effective model of the human Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase inhibition by aromatic-structure inhibitors
Nguyen Truong Cong Minh,Bui Tho Thanh,Le Xuan Truong,Nguyen Thi Bang Suong,Le Thi Xuan Thao 한국전기전자학회 2017 전기전자학회논문지 Vol.21 No.3
The research investigates the inhibition of fatty acid biosynthesis of the human Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase enzyme by the aromatic-structure inhibitors (also known as ligands) containing variables of substituents, contributing an important role in the treatment of fatty-acid metabolic syndrome expressed by the group of cardiovascular risk factors increasing the incidence of coronary heart disease and type-2 diabetes. The effective interoperability between ligand and enzyme is characterized by a 50% concentration of enzyme inhibitor (IC50) which was determined by experiment, and the factor of geometry structure of the ligands which are modeled by quantum mechanical methods using HyperChem 8.0.10 and Gaussian 09W softwares, combining with the calculation of quantum chemical and chemico-physical structural parameters using HyperChem 8.0.10 and Padel Descriptor 2.21 softwares. The result data are processed with the combination of classical statistical methods and modern bioinformatics methods using the statistical softwares of Department of Pharmaceutical Technology – Jadavpur University – India and R v3.3.1 software in order to accomplish a model of the quantitative structure - activity relationship between aromatic-structure ligands inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis of the human Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the significant impacts of expectations, performance, complaints, and fairness that affect consumer satisfaction. The methodology involves reviewing and referencing relevant literature carefully, then proposing a model for customer satisfaction. This study is empirically based on a survey with 50 respondents who work in the field of import and export in the region stretching from the north to the south of Vietnam. The sampling method used in this study is the in-depth interview method. The results show that: (1) expectation has a specific impact on customer satisfaction, (2) performance has a positive impact on customer satisfaction, and (3) complaint which is an intermediary factor between expectation, performance, and fairness has an impact on satisfaction, (4) fairness has a positive effect on satisfaction, in addition, fairness is an extremely important feature when customers choose an import-export service. Research implies that increasing expectations, performance, and fairness results in an improved customer experience and satisfaction when they use the service. It is suggested that the complaint factor continue to be studied and looked into because it still has some effect on satisfaction and is an intermediate variable that changes how the other factors relate to each other.
Rapid Determination of Ethyl Alcohol in Alcoholic Beverages Using a Fluorescent Nanofiber Film
Nguyen Le Thao Nguyen,백승훈,Zico Alaia Akbar,장성연,하시영,박종필,박태정 한국바이오칩학회 2018 BioChip Journal Vol.12 No.3
Electrospinning has been recognized as a simple, versatile, and viable technique to fabricate ultrathin nanofibers from various materials, e.g., polymers and composites, in aqueous solutions. In this study, we used polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a substrate to synthesize nanofibers by using an electric field between the syringe needle and PVA. The nanofibers demonstrate an immense potential for developing fluorescent detection system of ethyl alcohol from several types of beverages due to their special characteristics of a simple, albeit useful, and effective top-down fabrication process. The development of nanofibers, a fundamental understanding of electrospinning, and properties of the nanofibers, as well as their applications to determine the alcohol content in beverages by direct injection into the fiber surface, were described. This method was accomplished using a PVA nanofiber scaffold as the immobilized sensing film in samples of wine, beer, or some alcohol beverages. Various beverages were tested, which were found to contain low alcohol concentrations. The optical properties of nanofibers in an aqueous PVA solution were observed by fluorescence spectra. The PVA nanofiber films could be useful for detecting the alcohol upto 1.0vol% in a real sample within several seconds. Details of the type of electrospun fibers, and their characteristics were also explained. This study should serve as a guiding tool for nanoscience researchers in fibers, textiles, food validations, and polymer fields.

Phytochemical investigation of Kandelia candel resulted in the isolation of six triterpenes (1 - 5) and two glyceryl glycosides (6 and 7) and their structures were determined by comparing the spectroscopic data with those of reported values. In present study, we described the inhibitory effects of fractions and isolated compounds from K. candel on pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-12 p40, IL-6, and TNF-a) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs). Results indicated that compounds 3, 6, and 7 showed potent inhibition on IL-6 production (IC50 values at less than 0.5 mM, respectively). Meanwhile, compounds 6 and 7 exhibited strong inhibitory effects on the production of TNF-a (IC50 values of 1.7 ? 0.1 and 5.5 ? 0.2 mM). Compounds 1 and 3 were also showed the inhibitory effects on IL-12 p40 production (IC50 values of 8.9 ? 0.4 and 3.3 ? 0.1 mM, respectively).
