<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Pulsed-laser annealing (PLA) was performed on a preformed Pt-doped Ni-rich silicide film (Ni<SUB>2</SUB>Si phase), and its microstructural and phase evolution were studied from submelting to melting condition by varying the laser power density (<I>P</I>). Vertically nonuniform compositional profile with an interfacial intermixing was observed under a solid state reaction regime (<I>P</I> < 400 mJ/cm<SUP>2</SUP>) due to a limited atomic diffusion. At higher <I>P</I> condition, melting/resolidification occurred with a continuous increase in the Si concentration, and various microstructures of the film evolved with increasing <I>P</I>: amorphous structure and nucleation/growth of NiSi and NiSi<SUB>2</SUB> phases form in that order on the Si interface. Lastly, by applying additional rapid thermal annealing on the polycrystalline mixture of NiSi and NiSi<SUB>2</SUB> phases formed by PLA, a uniform Pt-doped NiSi<SUB>2</SUB> film with strong epitaxial growth tendency on the Si(001) substrate and high thermal stability (up to 900 °C) was synthesized.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Pt-doped Ni-silicides are formed using pulsed-laser annealing at various powers. </LI> <LI> Power-dependent solid- and liquid-state reactions yield various microstructures. </LI> <LI> Power-dependent microstructural and phase evolution paths are suggested. </LI> <LI> Additional rapid thermal annealing forms a thermally stable NiSi<SUB>2</SUB> film. </LI> </UL> </P>
Short-Term Residential Load Forecasting Using 2-Step SARIMAX

In contrast to city-level and larger aggregate-level load forecasting, load forecasting for residential customers is a much more challenging problem because residential loads are much more volatile. In order to forecast the residential load at one-hour interval 24-h loads the day before, a 2-Step SARIMAX method for residential load forecasting is proposed in this study. The forecasting performance of the proposed method is compared with the existing forecasting methods including SARIMA.
Postsynaptic Stability and Variability Described by a Stochastic Model of Endosomal Trafficking

<P>Neurons undergo dynamic processes of constitutive AMPA-type glutamate receptor (AMPAR) trafficking, such as the insertion and internalization of AMPARs by exocytosis and endocytosis, while stably maintaining synaptic efficacy. Studies using advanced imaging techniques have suggested that the frequency of these constitutive trafficking processes, as well as the number of AMPARs that are involved in a particular event highly fluctuate. In addition, mechanisms that trigger some forms of synaptic plasticity have been shown to include not only these processes but also additional fluctuating processes, such as the sorting of AMPARs to late endosomes (LEs). Thus, the regulation of postsynaptic AMPARs by the endosomal trafficking system appears to have superficially conflicting properties between the stability or organized control of plasticity and highly fluctuating or stochastic processes. However, it is not clear how the endosomal trafficking system reconciles and utilizes such conflicting properties. Although deterministic models have been effective to describe the stable maintenance of synaptic AMPAR numbers by constitutive recycling, as well as the involvement of endosomal trafficking in synaptic plasticity, they do not take stochasticity into account. In this study, we introduced the stochasticity into the model of each crucial machinery of the endosomal trafficking system. The specific questions we solved by our improved model are whether stability is accomplished even with a combination of fluctuating processes, and how overall variability occurs while controlling long-term synaptic depression (LTD). Our new stochastic model indeed demonstrated the stable regulation of postsynaptic AMPAR numbers at the basal state and during LTD maintenance, despite fast fluctuations in AMPAR numbers as well as high variability in the time course and amounts of LTD. In addition, our analysis suggested that the high variability arising from this stochasticity is beneficial for reproducing the relatively constant timing of LE sorting for LTD. We therefore propose that the coexistence of stability and stochasticity in the endosomal trafficking system is suitable for stable synaptic transmission and the reliable induction of synaptic plasticity, with variable properties that have been observed experimentally.</P>

<P>A new polydiacetylene lipid/human olfactory receptor nano-assembly was fabricated for the visual detection of an odorant for the first time. The assembly consisted of phospholipid-mixed polydiacetylenes (PDAs) and human olfactory receptors (hORs) in detergent micelles. To overcome the limitations of bioelectronic noses, hOR-embedded chromatic complexes (PDA/hORs) were developed, introducing PDAs that showed color and fluorescence transitions against various stimuli. The chromatic nanocomplexes reacted with target molecules, showing a fluorescence intensity increase in a dose-dependent manner and target selectivity among various odorants. As a result, a color transition of the assembly from blue to purple occurred, allowing the visual detection of the odorant geraniol. Through circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and a tryptophan fluorescence quenching method, the structural and functional properties of the hORs embedded in the complexes were confirmed. Based on this first work, future array devices, integrating multiple nano-assemblies, can be substantiated and utilized in environmental assessment and analysis of food quality.</P>
농가 참여율에 따른 볏짚 기반 바이오에탄올의 원료 수송거리 분석

온실가스 저감 및 지속가능한 수송 연료 확보를 위하여 신재생연료 의무혼합제도 도입을 위한 노력이 이루어지고 있다. 특히 셀룰로오스계 바이오에탄올은 식량자원을 이용하지 않고, 농업 부산물을 이용하여 식량작물과의 토지이용경합의 문제점이 없으며, 곡물가격변화에 의한 영향이 적고, 온실가스 저감 효과가 크다는 점에서 신재생연료로 각광을 받고 있다. 특히, 셀룰로오스계 바이오매스인 볏짚의 부존량은 국내 수송용 연료의 의무혼합량을 충족할 수 있다고 평가된다. 하지만 국내 볏짚을 이용한 바이오연료를 생산하는 데 필요한 비용을 분석한 연구는 찾아보기 힘들다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 볏짚을 이용한 바이오에탄올의 생산비용 중 변동비용의 주요 변인인 원료의 운송거리를 분석하여 최적지를 선정하였다. 또한 볏짚 연료화 사업에 대한 농가의 참여율에 따라 원료 수급량이 결정되므로, 참여율과 원료 수송거리를 비교하였다. 원료 수송거리는 2000Mg/day를 처리할 수 있는 바이오리파이너리의 군단위 최적지를 선정하고, 논에서 바이오리파이너리까지 운송거리를 산정하였으며, 볏짚 생산량은 통계청 2012년 자료를 이용하였다.
농업시스템응용플랫폼을 이용한 시스템 모델의 시뮬레이션 : 삼형제 저수지의 수위해석을 중심으로

농업시스템은 다양한 요소가 결합된 복잡계로서, 모델을 구성하고 모의하기 위해서는 다양한 하위 모듈을 결합하는 작업이 필요하다. 이는 복잡하고, 번거로운 작업으로 오랜 시간동안 시스템 시뮬레이션의 주요한 한계로 지적되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 복잡한 농업시스템을 모의하기 위하여 개발된 ‘농업시스템응용플랫폼’을 이용하여 저수지의 수위를 모의하고자 한다. 저수지의 수위를 모의하기 위하여 물수지 방정식을 이용하여 저수량을 계산하고, 수위내용적 곡선을 이용하여 수위로 변환하였으며, 유역유출량은 탱크모형을 사용하고, 수혜지역의 필요수량은 FAO Penman 수정식을 적용하였다. 대상지역은 금석, 무극, 용계 저수지로 선정하였다. 해당 저수지는 삼형제 저수지로도 불리는데, 서로 도수관으로 연결되어 수위가 연동되는 특징을 갖는다. 이러한 특징은 일반적인 모델링 방법으로는 다소 복잡할 수 있으나, 본 연구에서는 농업시스템응용플랫폼을 이용하여 다양한 구성요소로 이루어진 시스템을 손쉽게 모델링하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 대상 저수지의 수위를 모의하였다. 모의된 결과는 실시간 수위계로부터 관측된 일별 수위자료를 이용하여 검증하였다.
