SOME GENERAL CONVERGENCE PRINCIPLES WITH APPLICATIONS
Zhou, H.Y.,Gao, G.L.,Guo, G.T.,Cho, Y.J. Korean Mathematical Society 2003 대한수학회보 Vol.40 No.3
In the present paper, some general convergence principles are established in metric spaces and then theses principles are applied to the convergence of the iterative sequences for approximating fixed points of certain classes of mappings. By virtue of our principles, most of the latest results obtained by several authors can be deduced easily.

<P>Quantitative characterization of interfacial shear strength (IFSS), in multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-reinforced Al matrix composites, has been carried out using an in-situ pull-out technique. The end of an MWCNT protruding out of the tensile fracture surface of the composite was bonded to the tip of an atomic force microscopy (AFM) cantilever using an electron-beam-induced deposition method. The MWCNT was pulled out from the Al matrix using a nanomanipulator system installed inside a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The effective embedded length of the MWCNT incorporated in the Al matrix was evaluated by observing the pulled out MWCNT under high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Valid results were obtained for six MWCNTs with straight, visibly damage-free embedded parts nearly perpendicular to the fracture surface. The IFSS between the MWCNT and the Al matrix was 24.8 +/- 3.2 MPa. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of the MWCNT/Al composites is in good agreement with that estimated by the shear lag model using these IFSS values, resulting in the realization of 60% load transfer efficiency at the directly contacted MWCNT-Al interface in the MWCNT/Al composites. No MWCNT failure was observed during the pullout in this study. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.</P>
Magnetic Interaction in FeCo Alloy Nanotube Array
D. Zhou,T. Wang,M. G. Zhu,Z. H. Guo,W. Li,F. S. Li 한국자기학회 2011 Journal of Magnetics Vol.16 No.4
An array of FeCo nanotubes has been successfully fabricated in the pores of porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates by wetting templates method. The morphology and structure of the nanotube array were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction. The average diameter of the nanotubes was about 200 nm, and the length was more than 10 μm. Vibrating sample magnetometer and superconducting quantum interference device were used to investigate the magnetic properties of the nanotube array. Interaction between the nanotubes has been found to be demagnetizing as expected and the switching field distribution is broad.

<P/><P>Colorectal cancer has emerged as a major cause of death in Western countries. Down-regulation of β-catenin expression has been considered a promising approach for cytotoxic drug formulation. Eight 4,9-friedodrimane-type sesquiterpenoids (<B>1</B>–<B>8</B>) were acquired using the oxidative potential of <I>Verongula rigida</I> on bioactive metabolites from two <I>Smenospongia</I> sponges. Compounds <B>3</B> and <B>4</B> contain a 2,2-dimethylbenzo[<I>d</I>]oxazol-6(2<I>H</I>)-one moiety as their substituted heterocyclic residues, which is unprecedented in such types of meroterpenoids. Gauge-invariant atomic orbital NMR chemical shift calculations were employed to investigate stereochemical details with support of the application of advanced statistics such as CP3 and DP4. Compounds <B>2</B> and <B>8</B> and the mixture of <B>3</B> and <B>4</B> suppressed β-catenin response transcription (CRT) via degrading β-catenin and exhibited cytotoxic activity on colon cancer cells, implying that their anti-CRT potential is, at least in part, one of their underlying antineoplastic mechanisms.</P>
