        Defect Engineering into Metal–Organic Frameworks for the Rapid and Sequential Installation of Functionalities

        <P>Postsynthetic treatments are well-known and important functionalization tools of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Herein, we have developed a practical and rapid postsynthetic ligand exchange (PSE) strategy using a defect-controlled MOF. An increase in the number of defects amounts to MOFs with enhanced rates of ligand exchange in a shorter time frame. An almost quantitative exchange was achieved by using the most defective MOFs. This PSE strategy is a straightforward method to introduce a functionality into MOFs including bulky or catalytically relevant moieties. Furthermore, some mechanistic insights into PSE were revealed, allowing for a sequential ligand exchange and the development of multifunctional MOFs with controlled ligand ratios.</P><P>A practical and rapid postsynthetic ligand exchange strategy using a modulator-induced, defect-controlled MOF has been developed for preparing functionalized MOFs.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/inocaj/2018/inocaj.2018.57.issue-3/acs.inorgchem.7b02391/production/images/medium/ic-2017-023917_0007.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/ic7b02391'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

        미세먼지 저감대책으로서 바람길 적용 방안 : 세종시를 대상으로

        본 연구에서는 내륙 분지에 위치하여 대기 정체율이 높은 세종시를 대상으로 미세먼지의 저감을 위한 바람길의 적용방안을 도출하고 정책적 대안을 제시하였다. 도시내 바람길의 도입을 위해서는 첫째, 신도시 건설에 따른 신선한 대기의 변화 흐름을 파악하고 둘째, 도시공간에서 바람길을 확보함으로써 대기순환을 촉진해야함을 밝혀낼 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 미세먼지 저감 효과를 검증하기 위하여 전산유체역학모형을 활용하였다. 구체적으로는 도시 건설 전과 후의 탁월풍의 풍속, 풍향 변화와 일몰 후 생성된 시원한 공기가 낮은 지대를 따라 흐르는 특성이 분석되었다. 이와 더불어 블록단위에서 바람길과 순응하는 건축물을 배치 시 미세먼지 저감 효과를 정량적으로 검증하였다. 모의실험을 통해 제시 가능한 정책적 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 산, 숲, 골짜기에서 내려오는 신선한 공기가 도시 안으로 원활히 유입, 분산되어 미세먼지 농도를 낮출 수 있도록 바람통로를 조성하고, 적절한 건축물 배치계획을 수립한다. 둘째, 미세먼지 농도가 낮은 지역에는 공원, 광장, 놀이터 등 공공시설들을 우선적으로 설치하여 미세먼지로부터 안전한 옥외활동을 유인하도록 한다. 마지막으로, 지구단위계획 등 도시계획 수립 과정에서 바람길 분석을 통해 최적의 대안을 마련할 것을 제안한다. The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of ventilation corridor and derive adequate policy alternatives to its application for the city of Sejong, which is located in an inland of Korean Peninsula. In order to introduce the ventilation corridor in the city, it is necessary both to understand change on fresh air flow affected by the construction of new cities and to show its effects which are able to circulate air flow of the city. The study identified ventilation effects using computational fluid dynamics models. In particular, it analyzed change on wind speed and direction after constructing of a new town and cool air flow along the lowlands generated after sunset. In addition, it identified those of reducing particulate matter when arranging buildings conforming to the ventilation corridor at block level. The policy implications derived from simulation can be summarized as follows. First, it is desirable to plan ventilation corridors so that fresh air from mountains, forests, and valleys can flow into cities and mitigate the concentration of particulate matter. Furthermore, public facilities covering parks, plazas, and playgrounds should be installed preferentially to attract safe outdoor activities near to areas with low levels of particulate matter. Finally, it is adequate to prepare for a number of alternative plans by analyzing ventilation corridors when setting out district unit plan.

        고대 문헌에 나타난 ‘천강(天降)’의 의미 고찰

        In this study, we address a literal·historical understanding of ‘Cheongang (天降)’, which was interpreted as ‘come down from the sky(or heaven)’. Cheongang is emerging element in the process of founding the ancient state. An existing interpretation that come down from the sky(or heaven) was came from an understanding of myth frame. In myth frame, ‘Cheongang(天降)’ was interpreted that, we emphasize sacredness through the connection with the heavens or emphasizing the legitimacy of government. But simultaneously, it has also served as a limit that made an accurate review of the times and circumstance impossible. The interpretation of Cheongang(天降), ‘come down from the sky(heaven)’, is the result of faithful application of the primary meaning as written in dictionary. Cheon(天) is sky(heaven), gang(降) is come down or refers to the act of surrendering to the enemy. From the comprehensive analysis of the records of other ancient literature and the excavated texts, we can understand cheon(天)’s various meanings. In addition to the abstract meaning of sky, cheon(天) points to the existence of the most precious and high-ranking area or person in the world. However, people cannot come down from the sky. Therefore the Cheongang(天降) that defined as the come down from the sky is unscientific and unrealistic. This is the result of the lack of understanding about the meaning of Cheon(天) and Gang(降). In here, we extensively collected the excavated texts and literature of the related to ancient Cheon(天) and Gang(降) made a literal analysis and discussion of the character shape and meaning of Cheongang(天降).

        중국 동북 3성의 도시화와 경제성장

        This study analyzes the impact of the urbanization rate of the three northeastern provinces of China from 2008 to 2018 on regional economic growth to confirm whether China’s urbanization policy, which continues during the 14·5 rule, is suitable as a means to solve the northeast phenomenon. As a result of the analysis, it was found that urbanization and economic growth were positive (+), and the qualitative urbanization policy of the three northeastern provinces was appropriate as a policy means to solve the Northeast phenomenon. This study suggests that the development of the three northeastern provinces through these qualitative urbanization policies can have a positive effect on the Korean economy by expanding the geographical expansion of neighboring Korea into the market.

        Electrolyte and acid-base imbalance in native calves with enteropathogenic diarrhea

        Diarrhea is the most common cause of death in calves, and remains a major health challenge. Although there are many studies on the related pathogens, the understanding of the clinicopathological changes is limited. This study aimed to identify the pathogens and observe the clinicopathological changes in electrolytes and acute phase proteins (APPs) associated with diarrhea. Blood samples and fecal samples were collected from 141 calves for the determination of APPs, electrolyte and acid-base status and identification of enteropathogens, respectively. Single or co-infections with enteropathogens, including virus (bovine viral diarrhea virus, coronavirus, and rotavirus), Eimeria, Cryptosporidium, and Escherichia coli K99 were detected in both non-diarrheic and diarrheic calves. Levels of APPs such as serum amyloid A, haptoglobin and fibrinogen were comparable between diarrheic and non-diarrheic calves. Hypoglycemia, high blood urea, electrolytes and acid-base imbalance (hyponatremia, hypochloremia, and decreased bicarbonate), and strong ion difference (SID) acidosis showed a significant association in diarrheic calves (p < 0.01). Particularly, significant hyponatremia, bicarbonate loss, SID acidosis, hypoglycemia, and elevated blood urea nitrogen were found in rotavirus-infected calves. Monitoring the clinicopathological parameters of APPs and electrolyte levels could be vital in the clinical management of diarrheic calves.

        서주(西周) 청동기(青銅器) 명문(銘文)에 나타난 ‘천명(天命)’의 의미와 활용

        We can find records of ‘Heaven’s command (天命)’ in the literature and excavated materials prior of the Qin Dynasty. The Heaven’s command was an command order that had a significant impact on the actions and decisions of the ancient china’s kings. They carried out an order by command of the Heaven emperor and also the Heaven’s command was actively used as a means to effectively govern the country along with the legitimacy of power in connection with the ruling class. The term Heaven’s command was frequently used in sentences inscribed on bronze vessels made during the Zhou Dynasty. At that time, Heaven was recognized as a central area that ruled East Asia, creating and developing all things for people, and where the emperor lived. Heaven also played a key role in important historical projects such as the Chisu (治水) project, the replacement of the Ha (夏) and Shang (商) Dynasties, and the replacement of the Shang and Zhou (周) Dynasties. During the national project and the replacement of the dynasty, there was Heaven command ordered by Heaven. Records of these texts and excavated materials suggest that, the ancient times, Heaven was considered the most important place to serve as the center of the empire or the federal headquarters. However, Heaven gradually lost its power during the Warring States period and became symbolic, and Heaven command was changed to an abstract meaning of absolute command or mandatory instructions.

        <P>Super‐strong carbon nanotube fibers can be fabricated by infiltration of poly(ethylenimine)‐catechols (PEI‐Cs), report Tae Gwan Park, Haeshin Lee, Soon Hyung Hong, and co‐workers on p. 1971. PEI‐C mimics the amino acid sequence of mussel adhesive proteins in which catechols from 3,4‐dihydroxyl‐l‐phenylalanine and amines from lysine are found. Weak interactions between CNTs are overcome by heat‐induced, metal‐catalyzed chemical crosslinking of catechol, resulting in high‐strength CNT fibers. </P>
