Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication based on the wide bandwidth of >28 GHz is one of the key technologies for cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The selection of mmWave beams in such cellular-connected UAVs is challenging and critical, especially when downlink transmissions toward aerial user equipment (UE) suffer from poor signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) more often than their terrestrial counterparts. This study proposed a coordinated mmWave beam selection scheme using fingerprint for cellular-connected UAV. The scheme comprises fingerprint database configuration and coordinated beam selection. In the fingerprint database configuration, the best beam index from the serving cell and interference beam indexes from neighboring cells are stored. In the coordinated beam selection, the best and interference beams are determined using the fingerprint database information instead of performing an exhaustive search, and the coordinated beam transmission improves the SINR for aerial UEs. System-level simulations assess the UAV effect based on the third-generation partnership project―new radio mmWave and UAV channel models. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the overhead of exhaustive search and improve the SINR and spectral efficiency.

In this paper, we propose a beam selection with joint transmission for millimeter-wave (mmWave) aerial vehicles based on 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Specifically, the proposed scheme consists of offline fingerprint database construction and online beam selection with joint transmission (JT). In the offline phase, the optimal beam of serving cell and interference beams of neighboring cells are stored. In the online phase, the optimal beam and interference beams are determined using the fingerprint database. In addition, the intra-JT is performed to mitigate interference for aerial vehicles. The system level simulation is based on the 3GPP new radio mmWave and aerial vehicles model. The simulation results reveal that the proposed beam selection with JT can reduce the beam sweeping overhead and inter-cell interference.

3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project)에서는 LTE (Long Term Evolution) 기반 V2X (Vehicle to Everything)에 대한 표준화 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has recently developed Long Term Evolution (LTE) based vehicle to everything (V2X) communication. However, the important implication of the high carrier frequency and mobility is the more drastic time varying or equivalently lower channel coherence time in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) scenario. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately estimate the channel. In this paper, we propose the vehicle speed-based channel estimation algorithm in LTE-V2V communication system. The proposed channel estimation algorithm selects the sidelink demodulation reference signal (DMRS) structure and code rate according to vehicle speed. Simulation result shows that the proposed scheme has high reliability from low BLER at all speeds.

LTE-A(Long Term Evolution-Advanced)에서는 비용 효율적 방법으로 급증하는 무선 데이터 서비스를 대처하고 사용자의 QoS(Quality of Service)를 만족시키기 위해 SCE(Small Cell Enhancement)에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 제안 기법은 UE(User Equipment)로부터 받은 RSRP(Reference Signal Received Power)를 비교하여 소형셀의 클러스터를 구성한다. In Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A), small cell enhancement(SCE) has been developed as a cost-effective way of supporting exponentially increasing demand of wireless data services and satisfying the user quality of service(QoS). However, there are many problems such as the transmission rate and transmission quality degradation due to the dense and irregular distribution of a large number of small cells. In this paper, we propose a clustering based interference management scheme in dense small cell network. We divide the small cells into different clusters according to the reference signal received power(RSRP) from user equipment(UE). Within a cluster, an almost blank subframe(ABS) is implemented to mitigate interference between the small cells. In addition, we apply the power control to reduce the interference between the clusters. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio(SINR), throughput, and spectral efficiency of small cell users. Eventually, proposed scheme can improve overall cell performance.
