Zirconia has many excellent mechanical properties which has helped it gain attention as a dental material. Sol-gel method is universally accepted as the best method for the synthesis of zirconia. Here we have tried to synthesize zirconia by combining hydrothermal and sol-gel method. NaOH is added as the precipitating agent who forms salt in the reaction mixture which can be easily separated from the final solution. Zirconium and yttrium salts are used as precursors and PVA is used to separate the metal ions. Finally the zirconia powder obtained is calcined at 900oC for 2hrs. XRD analysis was done on the samples to confirm the crystal structure of the synthesized zirconia. SEM was taken to check the morphology of zirconia. Finally transparency of the synthesized zirconia was checked which shows that 10% PVA shows highest percentage of transparency among all the synthesized powder.

Rhabdochaeta nigroapicalis David, Hancock and Sachin, sp. n., is described from Assam, NE India. A key to all species of Schistopterini and Eutretini recorded from India is provided and taxonomic notes on previously described species are included. DNA barcode sequences of Calloptera asteria (Schiner), Rhabdochaeta pulchella de Meijere, Rhabdochaeta nigroapicalis David, Hancock and Sachin, sp. n. and Rhochmopterum venustum (de Meijere) were obtained and reported. Phylogenetic analysis using 62 mtCOI sequences of Tephritinae revealed Schis topterini to be a monophyletic group and the new species closely related to Rhabdochaeta pulchella, justifying its placement in Rhabdochaeta de Meijere. http://zoobank.org/A97337B3-E2BD-460D-BA62-6D3D4A1A60A2
Symptomatic Hypocalcemia in Primary Hyperaldosteronism: A Case Report

The metabolic alterations caused by hyperaldosteronism are being increasingly recognized and have generated considerable interest among the medical fraternity. Hyperaldosteronism is suspected to have a pivotal role in the patho-physiology of congestive cardiac failure where it has been studied extensively. But its effects on calcium metabolism, parathyroid metabolism and renal handling of calcium are less well described. Recent experimental models have shed light into the roles played by previously unknown mechanisms in causing these metabolic alterations. We hereby report a case of primary hyperaldosteronism due to adrenal adenoma (Conn’s syndrome) who presented with a myriad of clinical features including symptomatic hypocalcemia, significant weight loss along with uncontrolled hypertension for a prolonged period before eventually detected to have primary hyperaldosteronism. Surgical removal of the causative tumor resulted in prompt disappearance of all the symptoms and signs and regain of lost weight.

Two thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (TPD)-based copolymers, poly[5,10-bis(2-ethylhexyloxy) naphtho[1,2-b:5,6-b’]dithiophene-2,7-diyl-alt-1,3-(5-heptadecan-9-yl)-4H-thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6- dione] (P1) and poly[4,9-bis(2-ethylhexyloxy)naphtho[1,2-b:5,6-b’]dithiophene-2,7-diyl-alt-1,3-(5- heptadecan-9-yl)-4H-thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione] (P2), were synthesized and used as donor materials in polymer solar cells (PSCs). The optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of the copolymers were investigated. Under optimized conditions, the TPD-based polymers showed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) for the PSCs in the range from 1.1 to 2.1% under AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW/cm2).

The increased antibiotic resistance among microorganisms has resulted into growing interest for investigating the wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) as they are reported to be the major source in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and heavy metal resistance genes (HMRGs) in the environment. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and persistence of ARGs and HMRGs as well as bacterial diversity and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) in influent and effluent at the WWTP in Gwangju, South Korea, using high-throughput sequencing based metagenomic approach. A good number of broad-spectrum of resistance genes (both ARG and HMRG) were prevalent and likely persistent, although large portion of them were successfully removed at the wastewater treatment process. The relative abundance of ARGs and MGEs was higher in effluent as compared to that of influent. Our results suggest that the resistance genes with high abundance and bacteria harbouring ARGs and MGEs are likely to persist more through the treatment process. On analyzing the microbial community, the phylum Proteobacteria, especially potentially pathogenic species belonging to the genus Acinetobacter, dominated in WWTP. Overall, our study demonstrates that many ARGs and HMRGs may persist the treatment processes in WWTPs and their association to MGEs may contribute to the dissemination of resistance genes among microorganisms in the environment.

The demand for better structural performance in joining of components for road vehicles prompts the implementation of aluminum alloy friction stir welding technology in the automotive industry. The aim of current study is the creation of a 3-D finite element (FE) friction thermal model and stir welding (FSW) process of dissimilar aluminum alloy and for the estimation of crash worthiness performance of FSW fabricated shock absorber assembly. Thermo mechanical simulations and analysis are performed to understand the thermal behavior in the FSW weld zones. The developed models are correlated against published experimental results in terms of temperature profile of the weld zone. The developed models are then implemented for fabricating vehicle bumper parts to illustrate the performance of FSW welded components during an impact. Customary sled testing for low-speed guard necessities is performed utilizing a grating blend welded test apparatus at Wichita State University (WSU) at the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). A few guard congregations are then appended to the test installation utilizing FSW and conventional Gas bend GMAW welding strategies. Numerical models are likewise created where limited component investigation is utilized to contrast the anticipated harm and the real harm maintained by both of the FSW and GMAW manufactured guards.
