The pT-differential inclusive production cross section of the prompt charm-strange meson Ds+ in the rapidity range |y|<0.5 was measured in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV at the LHC using the ALICE detector. The analysis was performed on a data sample of 2.98x108 events collected with a minimum-bias trigger. The corresponding integrated luminosity is Lint=4.8 nb-1. Reconstructing the decay Ds+→φπ+, with φ→K-K+, and its charge conjugate, about 480 Ds+/- mesons were counted, after selection cuts, in the transverse momentum range 2<pT<12 GeV/c. The results are compared with predictions from models based on perturbative QCD. The ratios of the cross sections of four D meson species (namely D0, D+, D@?+ and Ds+) were determined both as a function of pT and integrated over pT after extrapolating to full pT range, together with the strangeness suppression factor in charm fragmentation. The obtained values are found to be compatible within uncertainties with those measured by other experiments in e+e-, ep and pp interactions at various centre-of-mass energies.

<P>Neutral pion and eta meson production in the transverse momentum range 1 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c have been measured at midrapidity by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in central and semicentral Pb-Pb collisions at root S-NN = 2.76 TeV. These results were obtained using the photon conversion method as well as the Photon Spectrometer (PHOS) and Electromagnetic Calorimeter detectors. The results extend the upper p(T) reach of the previous ALICE pi(0) measurements from 12 to 20 GeV/c and present the first measurement of eta meson production in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. The eta/pi(0) ratio is similar for the two centralities and reaches at high p(T) a plateau value of 0.457 +/- 0.013(stat) +/- 0.018(syst) A suppression of similar magnitude for pi(0) and eta meson production is observed in Pb-Pb collisions with respect to their production in pp collisions scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions. We discuss the results in terms of Next to Leading Order (NLO) pQCD predictions and hydrodynamic models. The measurements show a stronger suppression than observed at lower center-of-mass energies in the p T range 6 < p(T) < 10 GeV/c. For p(T) < 3 GeV/c, hadronization models describe the pi(0) results while for the eta some tension is observed.</P>
Neutral pion and η meson production in proton-proton collisions at s=0.9 TeV and s=7 TeV
ALICE Collaboration,Abelev, B.,Abrahantes Quintana, A.,Adamova, D.,Adare, A.M.,Aggarwal, M.M.,Aglieri Rinella, G.,Agocs, A.G.,Agostinelli, A.,Aguilar Salazar, S.,Ahammed, Z.,Ahmad, N.,Ahmad Masoodi, A North-Holland Pub. Co 2012 Physics letters. Section B Vol.717 No.1
The first measurements of the invariant differential cross sections of inclusive π0 and η meson production at mid-rapidity in proton-proton collisions at s=0.9 TeV and s=7 TeV are reported. The π0 measurement covers the ranges 0.4<pT<7 GeV/c and 0.3<pT<25 GeV/c for these two energies, respectively. The production of η mesons was measured at s=7 TeV in the range 0.4<pT<15 GeV/c. Next-to-Leading Order perturbative QCD calculations, which are consistent with the π0 spectrum at s=0.9 TeV, overestimate those of π0 and η mesons at s=7 TeV, but agree with the measured η/π0 ratio at s=7 TeV.
Correlated Event-by-Event Fluctuations of Flow Harmonics in Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
Adam, J.,Adamová,, D.,Aggarwal, M. M.,Aglieri Rinella, G.,Agnello, M.,Agrawal, N.,Ahammed, Z.,Ahmad, S.,Ahn, S. U.,Aiola, S.,Akindinov, A.,Alam, S. N.,Albuquerque, D. S. D.,Aleksandrov, D.,Aless American Physical Society 2016 Physical Review Letters Vol.117 No.18
<P>We report the measurements of correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of amplitudes of anisotropic flow harmonics in nucleus-nucleus collisions, obtained for the first time using a new analysis method based on multiparticle cumulants in mixed harmonics. This novel method is robust against systematic biases originating from nonflow effects and by construction any dependence on symmetry planes is eliminated. We demonstrate that correlations of flow harmonics exhibit a better sensitivity to medium properties than the individual flow harmonics. The new measurements are performed in Pb-Pb collisions at the center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of root S-NN = 2.76 TeV by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The centrality dependence of correlation between event-by-event fluctuations of the elliptic v(2) and quadrangular v(4) flow harmonics, as well as of anticorrelation between v(2) and triangular v(3) flow harmonics are presented. The results cover two different regimes of the initial state configurations: geometry dominated (in midcentral collisions) and fluctuation dominated (in the most central collisions). Comparisons are made to predictions from Monte Carlo Glauber, viscous hydrodynamics, AMPT, and HIJING models. Together with the existing measurements of the individual flow harmonics the presented results provide further constraints on the initial conditions and the transport properties of the system produced in heavy-ion collisions.</P>

The present study aims to focus on the site of fat bodies involved in the differential expression of vitellogenin protein in Bombyx mori L which is not yet fully understood. Culturing fat bodies and analyzing in in vitro and in vivo approaches made it useful to study this pattern. In Bombyx mori, L. The vitellogenin protein is 200–205 kDa and resolves at two molecular weight regions that are at 180 kDa and 42 kDa. We subject dorsal perivisceral (DPV) and ventral perivisceral fat body (VPV), haemolymph for this radio labeling cell culture and incorporation experiment. Based on our in vitro and in vivo experiments of S 35 methionine fluorography, Scanning densito metric, Western blot analysis and RT-PCR expression studies had strongly proven that the ventral perivisceral fat body is the significant and exclusive site of differential vitellogenin expression in silkworm, Bombyx mori but not in dorsal peripheral fat body tissues, haemolymph by radiolabeling studies. The present paper describes an experimental set-up based on the incubation of ventral perivisceral and dorsal perivisceral fat bodies and the measurement of vitellogenin with S 35 protein labeling incorporation method. These findings from our lab were the first report proved by in vitro and in vivo labeling experiments.
Multi-strange baryon production in pp collisions at s=7 TeV with ALICE
ALICE Collaboration,Abelev, B.,Adam, J.,Adamova, D.,Adare, A.M.,Aggarwal, M.M.,Aglieri Rinella, G.,Agocs, A.G.,Agostinelli, A.,Aguilar Salazar, S.,Ahammed, Z.,Ahmad, N.,Ahmad Masoodi, A.,Ahn, S.U.,Aki North-Holland Pub. Co 2012 Physics letters: B Vol.712 No.4
A measurement of the multi-strange Ξ- and Ω- baryons and their antiparticles by the ALICE experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is presented for inelastic proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The transverse momentum (pT) distributions were studied at mid-rapidity (|y|<0.5) in the range of 0.6<pT<8.5 GeV/c for Ξ- and Ξ@?+ baryons, and in the range of 0.8<pT<5 GeV/c for Ω- and Ω@?+. Baryons and antibaryons were measured as separate particles and we find that the baryon to antibaryon ratio of both particle species is consistent with unity over the entire range of the measurement. The statistical precision of the current data has allowed us to measure a difference between the mean pT of Ξ- (Ξ@?+) and Ω- (Ω@?+). Particle yields, mean pT, and the spectra in the intermediate pT range are not well described by the PYTHIA Perugia 2011 tune Monte Carlo event generator, which has been tuned to reproduce the early LHC data. The discrepancy is largest for Ω- (Ω@?+). This PYTHIA tune approaches the pT spectra of Ξ- and Ξ@?+ baryons below pT<0.85 GeV/c and describes the Ξ- and Ξ@?+ spectra above pT>6.0 GeV/c. We also illustrate the difference between the experimental data and model by comparing the corresponding ratios of (Ω-+Ω@?+)/(Ξ-+Ξ@?+) as a function of transverse mass.

We present first measurements of the evolution of the differential transverse momentum correlation function, C, with collision centrality in Au+Au interactions at sNN=200 GeV. This observable exhibits a strong dependence on collision centrality that is qualitatively similar to that of number correlations previously reported. We use the observed longitudinal broadening of the near-side peak of C with increasing centrality to estimate the ratio of the shear viscosity to entropy density, η/s, of the matter formed in central Au+Au interactions. We obtain an upper limit estimate of η/s that suggests that the produced medium has a small viscosity per unit entropy.
Measurement of electrons from beauty hadron decays in pp collisions at s=7 TeV
ALICE Collaboration,Abelev, B.,Adam, J.,Adamova, D.,Adare, A.M.,Aggarwal, M.M.,Aglieri Rinella, G.,Agocs, A.G.,Agostinelli, A.,Aguilar Salazar, S.,Ahammed, Z.,Ahmad, N.,Ahmad Masoodi, A.,Ahn, S.A.,Ahn North-Holland Pub. Co 2013 Physics letters: B Vol.721 No.1
The production cross section of electrons from semileptonic decays of beauty hadrons was measured at mid-rapidity (|y|<0.8) in the transverse momentum range 1<pT<8 GeV/c with the ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC in pp collisions at a center of mass energy s=7 TeV using an integrated luminosity of 2.2 nb-1. Electrons from beauty hadron decays were selected based on the displacement of the decay vertex from the collision vertex. A perturbative QCD calculation agrees with the measurement within uncertainties. The data were extrapolated to the full phase space to determine the total cross section for the production of beauty quark-antiquark pairs.
Single spin asymmetry AN in polarized proton-proton elastic scattering at s=200 GeV
STAR Collaboration,Adamczyk, L.,Agakishiev, G.,Aggarwal, M.M.,Ahammed, Z.,Alakhverdyants, A.V.,Alekseev, I.,Alford, J.,Anson, C.D.,Arkhipkin, D.,Aschenauer, E.,Averichev, G.S.,Balewski, J.,Banerjee, A North-Holland Pub. Co 2013 Physics letters: B Vol.719 No.1
We report a high precision measurement of the transverse single spin asymmetry AN at the center of mass energy s=200 GeV in elastic proton-proton scattering by the STAR experiment at RHIC. The AN was measured in the four-momentum transfer squared t range 0.003≤|t|≤0.035 (GeV/c)2, the region of a significant interference between the electromagnetic and hadronic scattering amplitudes. The measured values of AN and its t-dependence are consistent with a vanishing hadronic spin-flip amplitude, thus providing strong constraints on the ratio of the single spin-flip to the non-flip amplitudes. Since the hadronic amplitude is dominated by the Pomeron amplitude at this s, we conclude that this measurement addresses the question about the presence of a hadronic spin flip due to the Pomeron exchange in polarized proton-proton elastic scattering.
System size dependence of associated yields in hadron-triggered jets
STAR Collaboration,Abelev, B.I.,Aggarwal, M.M.,Ahammed, Z.,Anderson, B.D.,Arkhipkin, D.,Averichev, G.S.,Balewski, J.,Barannikova, O.,Barnby, L.S.,Baudot, J.,Baumgart, S.,Beavis, D.R.,Bellwied, R.,Bene North-Holland Pub. Co 2010 Physics letters: B Vol.683 No.2
We present results on the system size dependence of high transverse momentum di-hadron correlations at sNN=200 GeV as measured by STAR at RHIC. Measurements in d+Au, Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions reveal similar jet-like near-side correlation yields (correlations at small angular separation -Δφ∼0, Δη∼0) for all systems and centralities. Previous measurements have shown that the away-side (Δφ∼π) yield is suppressed in heavy-ion collisions. We present measurements of the away-side suppression as a function of transverse momentum and centrality in Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions. The suppression is found to be similar in Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions at a similar number of participants. The results are compared to theoretical calculations based on the parton quenching model and the modified fragmentation model. The observed differences between data and theory indicate that the correlated yields presented here will further constrain dynamic energy loss models and provide information about the dynamic density profile in heavy-ion collisions.
